Strength:

It will be the one component I won't have to upgrade. It's that good. Most bang for the buck I've spent on my system. It also allows me to spend more on quality components since its built in 300w amplifier is more than adequate to reproduce the fundamentals.

Weakness:

Makes me want to add another for true stereo subwoofing, even though my neighbors would surely have me excommunicated. Other than that, none.

I was lucky enough to find a guy who could no longer keep his 2W in his tiny apartment. His loss was my gain. But he was happy to pass it on to me, as if passing a torch for a truly great product. I understood how the poor guy felt. So he reluctantly accepted my $500 offer, a great price considering its near perfect condition. The hardwood finish on the top plate looks great in my living room, and compliments my 2C's perfectly. It is small enough to stay out of the way, yet attractive enough to draw curiosity from all who visit. The connections are a bit odd, but they make sense when the operating perameters are understood. It was easy enough to hook up using the pre/main jacks in my Yamaha A/V receiver. I was running 100 watts per channel into my 2C's, and with them rolled off and the 2W adding it's power and precision to the deep end of the spectrum, the sound was transformed into being utterly effortless and commanding. I have since upgraded to Audio Research and Aragon for my pre/main setup, and the difference is astounding. I am considering changing my venerable 2C's for Magnepan 1.6's. But, my 2w will remain in my system, and again I'm considering adding a second 2W. Anyway... although I originally intended the 2W to be used for music reproduction, which it does with clarity and definition, as some have stated, a bass cello sounds like a bass cello, etc., it has also proved to be revelatory with movie soundtracks which contain low frequency fundamentals which change the experience of the sound completely. You don't hear the bass emanating from the sub, you just feel it. It is in the ambience of the sound, integrated and floating in the soundscape. Scary indeed. I think you get the picture. Highly recommended. I worked in a radio station a few years ago, and have always looked for great sound. The 2w's are great at their price. If you can find one, grab it. It will grab you with it's quality and juice.
