Strength:

Deep clean bass. Easy to move around. Great customer service. Great performer for both movies + music. And the list goes on

Weakness:

Size but who cares

A must have for a true HT enthusiast. This sub can go really low was thumping bass. I was amazed by the clean, deep bass quality of this sub. SVS has a good customer serive and they help me choose the model based on my room size. I was going to by PC+ but the rep suggested me to buy the PCi series. Some people object to the size of this sub but they don't know what they are missing. They may end up paying double or triple amount of money but they won't reach the performance of the SVS sub.

Strength:

Great sounding low frequency bass. Easy calibration into HT system. Good combination of low and loud. Customer service and contact folks.

Weakness:

None.

What more can you say about SVS that hasn't been said. Amazing bass for the price. DVD's and music have never sounded so good. If you are in the market for a great sub >700.00 the 20-39PCI is that sub

Strength:

High quality parts. High quality sound. The BEST customer service around, IF you need it.

Weakness:

This is a BIG one.

This is a great sub and you won't be disapointed. First thing you need to know about this thing is that it is BIG. You won't appreciate how big until you see the UPS guy huffing and puffing trying to get it out of his truck. By the way, the look on his face was priceless. Anywho setup is easy as it comes with subwoofers. Plug in the power and the audio cable and your set. I used my trusty Radio Shack SPL meter to match my speaker levels and I was ready to go. I popped in a CD and noticed instantly that the boomyness of my previous sub was gone and replaced with good tight bass. Although it sounded pretty darn good I wasn't as impressed as I hoped I would be because of all the glowing reviews around had pushed my expectations so high. I decided to pop in a DVD and chose Fellowship of the Ring(Extended) and selected the DTS-ES discrete track. This did the trick for me. I was really impressed after I did this. The bass coming out of this thing during the first battle and throughout the movie was down right scary. When the ring is sliced off Sauron's hand and hits the ground you can feel it vibrate your whole body. This bad boy can push some serious deep, deep bass. Bass that you can feel is really cool and makes movies that much more enjoyable. Anyway I guess I'll bring my rambling to an end and repeat that you won't be disapointed with your purchase. This sub will put forth bass details in movies and music that you didn't know existed and will make you pull out your whole library just to see what new sounds you can discover. If you looking for a sub you should do yourself a favor and check this one out.

Strength:

Tight clean bass. Very low distrotion. Easy to move.

Weakness:

You wonder what two would sound like. You want to buy the PC+ or Ultras

This is a great subwoofer. It goes as low as you will ever want it to go. In fact it goes so low that you can't hear it only feel it. There is no need for buttkickers any more, the sub shacks the whole house. Service is awsome from the guys at SVS. They will even help you with placement in your room. I am using this with my klipsch speakers and it blends seamlessly. You can't go wrong with anything from the guys at SVS. The best sub I own yet.

Strength:

A well made unit which gives clean, tight, deep, loud, flat, kickin' bass

Weakness:

Size perhaps but nothing else

First of all I need to say that this not just a subwoofer, it is a piece of artillery. When you play the 1812 overture, people will mistakenly think you are using a real cannon. It does 6 things with the bass it produces 1. It does it very cleanly. 2. It does it very tightly. 3. It does it very deeply. 4. It can do it very loudly. 5. It does it very flatly. 6. It also kicks quite hard. This sub is quite flat in its response. No bloom at 35-45 hz, and that does take getting used to. But it is very strong it what it does. I have cranked this thing up were you would have to shout to talk over it. Even at high levels I did not bottom the cone or reach its limits. On music I have tried a high energy jazz album by Flim and the BB's called Tricycle (DMP cd-443) Especially on the first three tracks the results are really amazing, a totally soild bass guitar line, and a kick drum that pounds cleanly. (This an excellent demo album) The next music in line was Dave Matthews "Crash" album. The first two songs have a bass guitar and bass drum which sort of blend together. This posed a real probelm for my last subwoofer it simply made it sound like mud. The SVS made sense out of these complicated bass passages. In my opinion these songs of Dave Matthews are the acid test for a good subwoofer. A good one will allow one to hear the instruments distinctly, a bad one will just push mud out. On movies I watched the iron giant. The scene at the end really showed the ability of the SVS. (The one where the iron giant shoots a power pulse at a battleship). When the power pulse explodes, the room shakes with various cadences of bass sonics. I played the scene over and over 'cause it was so cool. The only thing that could be a probelm is its size. I might write "Army" on it and tell people its a howitzer. In the end I think the SVS 20-39PCI is a quality product made by a good company at a reasonable price. $599 P.S Do not use this in an apartment building unless you want to be evicted.

Strength:

Hard hitting, tight, clean, LOW BASS!!

Weakness:

Size (if it bothers you, but not me) so loud it bothers others on my block, who cares about them anyway i love my big black tube!

THIS THING POUNDS! Oh man i love it...and my neighbors hate it HA! Seriously this has to be some of the best low freq. bass i have ever heard...or felt for that matter cause it goes SO low that you only feel it. None of that boomyness other subs have, all you get out of this sub is pure, clean, tight, hard hitting bass that WILL shake your house from one side to the other. Excellent sub for movies and even does very well for music, but i would say it is a better movie sub. If you want an SVS more for music i would say go with the 25-31. Only downside to it is the size, i mean this thing is huge. For me its not even a downside... i love the fact its huge, people are amazed at it when they see it and i think it looks cool too.

Strength:

Clean, accurate, loud and deep bass Great looking and well made Easy to setup

Weakness:

Could be a lease breaker

First of all, thank you to everyone who has given their review of their SVS sub on this web site. It helped me decide on what subwoofer to upgrade to from my Paradigm PS-1000. With all of the positive reviews about this line of subs I just had to see what all the commotion was about. I have had my SVS for about two weeks now and I am very impressed with this amazing sub. There really isn't a lot that I can say that has not already been said but I have been floored by the amount of clean, accurate bass that it is able to reproduce. It is never boomy or unatural sounding. I have the volume on the sub at about halfway and my sub level on the preamp at -1db after calibrating with S&v's HT Tuneup disc using the DTS tones. I am afraid to turn it up anymore but I am sure it could take it. I don't have things flying off the wall yet like some others have had. My system consists of: Paradigm Ref.20's for fronts and surrounds Paradigm Ref CC-center chan Paradigm Mini Monitors-back surrounds Outlaw 750 and ATI 1502-amps Outlaw 950-preamp For movies I have tested out FOTR, Monsters Inc, Fifth Element(SB-DTS),Dark City, Independence Day, Star Wars-Epsiode 1 and Pearl Harbor in DTS. Pearl Harbor was what I watched tonight and the bombing sequence was really impressive. I am hearing things that I never heard before with my old sub. This SVS really plays loud and deeper than I could have imagined. My favorite so far is LOTR-simply amazing. For music I have listened to Steely Dan-Two Against Nature and Gaucho in DTS and Alan Parsons-On Air. The bass is very precise and clean, giving a solid foundation to the music. It will take me awhile to go back watch all the dvds that I have but I am looking forward to it with this sub. Thanks again to all who have contributed their thoughts on SVS and thanks to SVS for putting out such an outstanding product at an incredible value.:tu:

Strength:

Low, Loud and Clean output. Ample power. Great Construction.

Weakness:

Generally Low WAF factor. More imposing in size that it can appear on the web.

I have had my SVS 20-39PCi for just under a month now. I upgrade to the SVS from the infinity bu80 after having demo'ed the 2 Velodyne's listed below and also listening to other subs at some local audio stores. While the Velodyne 15 sounded good I couldnt see myself paying the extra 100-200 dollars for the Velo when I had heard such great things about the svs products. Despite not having the opportunity to demo the SVS I figured with the great return policy it wouldnt hurt to atleast give it a try so after a little convincing of the fiancee I ordered my 20-39PCi. The SVS hands down is the best sub for my budget and needs and sounds absolutely amazing. I actually find myself listening to music in my HT room again. Its musically very impressive while not being boomy like the infinity or muddy as the 2 velos seemed to be in my house. For movies there is no question this sub is amazing. Feeling the rumble as bombs explode or tanks roll by is simply amazing and deffinately brings you even more into a movie.

Cool look (I love it) Great value (just try and find a sub that sounds as good for under $1000 Fantastic sound.

Weakness:

Uh, I guess the "Wife acceptnce factor" is low.

I've been waiting for some time to update my Home Theater. I read many sub reviews online and have never heard a bad word about SVS. I basically ordered on faith, and I couldn't be happier. This sub produces the smoothest loudest bass I've ever experienced. After calibrating the sub with a SPL Meter, it sounded even better. This sub does a great job with both movies and music.
