I have not bought many items on the net that I have not had the opportunity to listen to first, but I can safely say this was a good purchase. I have owned a # of higher end subs and the pair that these replaced retailed at almost twice the price. The system is primarily a music system and they blend very well with my monitors . The intial set up was a little dificult . The directions indicated starting with an input level of approximately .5 which put my processor at -7db for a test level of 0 at 80db, this in turn was not enough gain to even turn on the auto switch . Tom at SVS was very helpful. Once resolved, the 20-39's sounded very good with out any break in . I do not think I will be replacing these in the near future.

First, to all of those people who are considering this subwoofer: You have no idea what your missing until you have it set up in your home theater. I was very skeptical about the online purchase but who isn't? My only regret (and I'm not kidding) is that I waited for nearly 3 months before ordering this sub. The minute it was hooked up in my room, all of the anxious feelings I had about ordering it vanished and I couldn't wipe the stupid looking 4 year old grin off my face all night! The bass this thing pounds out is SICK! I had my doubts about how impressive it would be and I can't even describe how happy I am that I decided to pull the trigger and give it a go. The bass is so clean, tight and hard hitting that I can't imagine how I was even remotely satisfied with my last Klipsch KSW-10 sub. Let me wrap this review up by making one suggestion or challenge to those of you thinking about this subwoofer for your home theater. I suggest you put on "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" dvd and play the first chapter... specifically from the playing times of 3:45 to 4:30. When Saron's hand hits the ground this sub will absolutley knock you back with clean, tight and ultra low bass that will make you feel like your stomach is turning upside down and inside out! Then when the masses of soldiers get knocked down by the explosion there is a mid-ranged bass line that is unlike anything I've ever heard or imagined. If your sub doesn't perform this way for you then your missing out on the whole reason dvd soundtracks and audio cd's were created...accurate reproduction of sound the way it was meant to be heard. THE BOTTOM LINE: Stop dreaming about it and order the sub. It will be everything you hope for and then some!

Strength:

Build quality, power, and performance. You wont find a sub at this price point to beat itbar none!

Weakness:

I have a dedicated theater so there is no WAF, that would be none!

Now on with my review of the 20-39 PC+, from the moment I lead eyes on this baby I knew she was something special, once I got her set up with VE put in We Were Soldiers and then I was just in amazed how deep, loud and clean the bass was when the shells were dropping! The chopper blades were taken chunks out of the air and you could feel it! U-571 Wow! There is bass in this movie I never knew was there until this baby arrived. ATOTC chapter 3 assassination attempt when the chrome shipped explodes was the true test. Every sub that I demoed would bottom out including my AR's at reference, not the 20-39 PC+; she showed no signs of wanting run out gas at all. Matter fact she looked at me as to say. Is that it?! Is that all you have to offer?! I LOVE THIS SUB! 20-39 PC+ is the real deal a true subwoofer in every way; oh I almost forgot to mention that the 20-39 PC+ is very musical as well. This is the best $847.77 I have yet to spend on my theater and I consider the 20-39 PC+ as an investment!

Strength:

Ease of use, great customer support

Weakness:

I don't have to worry about it, but WAF. I think you could make a 'sleeve' to fit the sub in a cloth pattern that matches the wall, or the couch or the drapes and get past the WAF pretty easily. Make sure you dont cover the ports or the bottom opening of the sub and it shoud work fine. People wouldn't even notice it in the corner.

I really don't have much to add to previous reviews. This sub is awesome. With the addition to my home theater friends are offering to give me 7$ to watch a movie at my place. I've been told on more than one occasion that it sounds better than the local theaters. If you're in a large room and want great low-end, go SVS. My room is +/- 23'x27' with a peaked 11' ceiling and it more than fills the area. The 25 would offer more SPL, but I'm am happy with the 20. I listen near reference pretty much all the time and I've yet to hear this woofer distort...this includes Episodes I & II, Fight Club and LOTR....never heard it break....only good, clean, loud bass.

I had a crappy sub before..rhymes with 'yolk'. There is NO comparison. I have head a Velodyne and Sunfire in a store set-up(not sure what models) and the SVS blows them away.

Weakness:

None unless you have a Wife Acceptance Factor(WAF)

Well, I have the SVS PC-Plus 20-39 up and running. It's for REAL! I had to reset subwoofer settings down a few dbs. very powerful, but very tight and you can feel it! Where the Sunfire would "bottom out" this keep pushing. No humming or clipping! Just have everything on your walls secured. Now, it is large (especially in comparison with a Sunfire True Sub MkII), about the size of a small water heater. Just find a nice hideaway in the corner and you will hear and feel the difference. I have been in and out of the audio/video business for 15 years and this is dollar for dollar the best sub, period. Strength:

Deep powerful bass, wiide array of user controls and adjustability.

Weakness:

Physical size

Bought this monster after reading plenty of online reviews of other SVS products and their high reputation for customer support and service. So far I have to echo all the acolades I have seen. I pre-ordered this model before they were available for shipment and the wait was certainly worth it. The exceptionally low deep, accurate bass has added a whole new dimension to music and movies. I audtioned several other subs such as the Paradigm, HSF, Totem, Rebel as well as mainstream others. I am exceptionally happy with this product and would not hesitate to reccomend this subwoofer or company.

Strength:

Clear, clean, undistorted Bass all the way to 20 Hz. No distortion, even as my walls, floor and windows shake.

Weakness:

difficult to find an unobtrusive spot for a 39 inch tall subwoofer.

Quite simply, I am blown away! There's exceptional clarity all the way to 20 Hz -- Bass you can FEEL without the annoying harmonics that don't belong. I bought after reading online reviews and this speaker exceeds my expectations by a considerable amount

Strength:

Low, accurate, and taut bass. Excellent array of features that would cost much extra if purchased seperately.

Weakness:

Size...It's big....I don't dig the velvety covering..i'll be seeing lots of dust bunnies on it i bet

Wow..great product...It's not the end all but it's under 1000$ and quite a performer. Has ample power, adjustable x-over, subsonic filter, phase alignment. the subsonic filter is a welcome sight to a ported enclosure. The sub provides plenty of deep quality bass. Goes down to 16hz in the room with good authority...the Velodyne hgs 18 is a bit better and quicker...but it's nominal for the 2500$ extra
