WOW!! This sub rocks!!. It will also keep up with very loud systems. I had to upgrade to Denon's 5 speaker stereo just so the rest of the speakers will balance out what this sub will put out. Much of the music is felt. It rattles not only my windows but my neighbors as well. It knocked down the track lighting in the family room and purfume bottles in the bedroom. People wlak by the house and think a bad is playing inside. Yes, I like it as loud as possible and this sub keeps up with anything live you might find in a medium size bar. But i do recommend that you use it for really low bass and still have good performing main speakers. Although it will go up to about 90 Hz, it is not really designed to do so. Things start to get muddy. I recommend using it for stuff below 40. I am using it with a pair of Acoustic Research AR-1s (also using the sunfire amps with 15 inch woofers) and the combination is best I have heard for under $10,000. With the powered woofers and sub you wont even need much of an amp, permitting you to use low power tube amps like my Golden Tubes. The sound is very clean and I am in the process of building a surround system that can truley simulate stadium and arena environments. Oh yes, one more thing, this thing is so small it fits almost anywhere. I can even bring it over to my friends for parties. Try to get it online for about $12-1300. I have seen it in audio stores for as much as $2000.

Cheers,
Jethro

AT LAST SOMETHING MY WIFE AND I AGREE ON IN HOMETHEATER,
NO SYSTEM ON THE HIGHER END SHOULD BE WITHOUT A SUBWOOFER THAT CAN MAKE YOU A PART OF THE ACTION. WHEN THIS SUB IS SET UP PROPERLY IT MAKES GOING TO THE MOVIES OUT OF THE QUESTION, THE THEATER AT HOME WILL BE THE ONLY WAY TO GO.

Strength:

Unbeleviable amounts of bass.

Weakness:

None that I have seen.

This thing is incredible. I have had this for about 1 year now. My only problem, is that I live in a Condo and my neighbors hate me. Have been asked to turn down my system a few times. One time I was told I was shaking the "building" Very happy with this sub. Both with music and movies.

Strength:

deep, powerful bass

Weakness:

It's a bit expensive as you can get some decent subs below a grand

Unbelievable power and depth, greater than my Velodyne which was rated flat to 20 HZ. I think what you would find with those that say it can be boomy with music is that it is turned up a bit high. If you turn this sub up more than a quarter of the way, you have it set too high. If you have a processor where the music soundfields are adjustable (like Lexicon, etc.) you can tame the power, cross it over at 40 HZ and have accurate, deep bass that integrates well with music or video. Most people crank their subs up listening for a distinct bass sound. This is not a sensible approach. Use some software like Avia to help integrate this sub and it will vibrate your seat when played loudly and stay clean and deep at other times. It's an excellent sub.

I just puchased the Sunfire Signature Subwoofer to finish up my HomeTheatre System.THIS SUBWOOFER MARKS A NEW MILESTONE
IN SUBWOOFER REPRODUCTION. I've been a semi pro musician
for the past 10 years playing jazz and symphony, and have been
a bass trombone player for the past 25 years. My ears are very much
accustomed to hearing the real thing at these frequencies this sub does
it in spades.I swear I can hear a real bass guitar player in my living
room for the first time.On DVD Movies your whole body and room
get energized with enormous spl sound waves at low distortion levels.
Contact and the movie Twister was spell bounding and had your whole
living room literally shaking what more can I say BUY IT!

The Sunfire True Subwoofer Signature is superb in the

Weakness:

For you Cerwin Vega sub freaks out there, you might think the Sunfire Sig. lacks a bit mid bass.

Keep in mind that you need large main speakers to set up with the Sunfire Sig. The point of this sub is not to complete your main speakers, but to give them an extra kick at ultra low frequensies. I recommend sunfire users to set the frequency knot to about 50hz. And before you buy this sub, buy a couple of large main speakers to go with. When set up right this sub deservs no less then a full 5 star rating for it's unbeatable sound level!

I am very impressed with the Sunfire Signature Sub! In its price range (and I know its not cheap), its got to be the best home theater sub available. It is also more than acceptable with music. I have compared this with the Velodyne FSR18, as well as several other subwoofers. I remember the Sunfire Mark II had a slight buzzing noise, as well as the Velodyne. The Signature is dead quiet. When it plays, it is powerfull and as loud as you could ever want and seems to be distortion free. I like it a lot! The unit is designed so that it can be placed in a corner and unlike front firing subs, its sound is not easily localized. I don't see how you could go wrong with the Sunfire Signature.

Strength:

Small Size, loads of volume, tight low bass response

Weakness:

None

I bought this sub to replace my cheap starter MTX sub. I was diciding between the Velodyne HGS series and Sunfire and chose Sunfire because of the size (easy to hide)

I don't know how Glenn can claim there is limited volume. I am using mine in a 12' x 22' room and there is more than enough volume. I have the volume control on the sub set at 0 (min to +15 available) and the sub output level on my receiver set at -8Db (other speakers set at 0) so there is loads of room. (my sub is placed at an angle in the corner which provides maximum bass output). I used a Radio shack sound level meter to set the level equal with my other speakers. (a good investment)

I have watched all of my DVD's again since purchasing this sub and have noticed loads of things I did not previously with my MTX sub.

I have them crossed over at about 50Hz which ideally complements the rest of my system. Glenn stated that his burrowed sub moved around the floor. My sub came with an extra set of rubber feet and it does not move at all. It sounds like he used the original feet which would cause the sub to bounce around the floor.

I listen to movies extremely loud (especially A bugs life - once a week, and Saving Private Ryan) the bass is tight and undistorted. I need to find some way to stop my windows from resonating but otherwise have no complaints.

I paid $1,500, so shop around as I notice most retailers have a price of $1,800 for this unit.

Strength:

ummmm...

Weakness:

limited volume, hard to intergrate with room, moves around

I had this unit on loan and really wanted to like it (would get a good deal)...alas, the bass never sounded intergrated and woven into the music. I tried various mini monitors, room positions and combinations of adjustments...no dice. The sub also shifted position on the floor as music was played. Nothing short of sitting on it would stop it. Screwing spikes to the bottom would work but the unit wasn't mine. I bought the Audio Concept Sub 1's...Wow !!! This is more like it, perfect pitch definition and seamless transition and tight as a drum. Has Bob Carver done it again? Yup. Fooled us again. Who was it that said there's a sucker born every minute?

I just upgraded from the MKII, which I thought was an tremendous sub. However, I must say that this is the most incredible sub that I have ever had in my listening room. This is a sub for reproducing the lowest octaves, don't try to get midbass from it. As i listened to different tracks and DVD's, I found sonic information that on those tracks that I was unaware even existed. I have had a number of great subs in my listening room, which is fairly large, and this is by far the most impressive. Yes, it will literally shake your concrete foundation. If you have an average size listening room, you will probably be very content with the MKII. But if you must have the ultimate bass, or a large listening area, the Sig can't be beat. By the way, take this or the MKII home to audition it, I haven't found a showroom yet that can compare to the sound I got out of either of these when I got them home and set up properly. Just get it, you'll be amazed at the ocatives that you didn't know you were missing.
