Strength:

LFE Input. Nice appearance and finish. Nothing about the Construction feels cheap. Great bass & volume. D.Digital and DTS just kicks butt.

Weakness:

None found so far. No LFE hum in standby mode (yet anyway!)

I wanted to replace the sub that came with my Kenwood HT-503 home theater that I had gotten for christmas. The Kenwood sub was the weakest link in the chain, so it's the first to be replaced. I plan on replacing all of the speakers (and then the reciever) a piece or two at a time.
I really didn't have any intention of getting a Polk until I heard it at one of Circuit City's new cheesy listening rooms. I had gone in to hear the Velodyne CT-100, but their display model had a torn cone. Scratch the CT-100, as the cone looked and felt cheap. The CT-120 didn't sound that much better than the cheaper Polk, and the Polk just blew the doors off of any of the other 10 and 8 inch subs.
The construction of this sub also seems very solid, esp. compared to the JBL PB12 which I almost bought at Best Buy.
I was concerned about the LFE hum I'd read about, but after a couple of days, I still haven't heard it. All in all I'm very impressed with the Polk and now plan on replacing all of my speakers with Polk products. A great value for the money!

Strength:

Can go really deep. Will bother the neighbors :)

Weakness:

Lack of purity for music. Annoying hum when in standby mode.(and its not a little hum either!) When using for watching TV is turns on and off frequently(very annoying)

If your looking for just a big boom, this is the sub for you. But consider spending another $200 and moving up to a better class if your looking to reproduce music faithfully.

You owe it too yourself to audition the next class before you purchase. Making the move up by $200 is unbelievable. The bass becomes "alive" and surrounds you!

I have tried the PSW-250 and would only recommend that sub to someone in a very small-room. College students could definately do worse than the 250 or 350, I think they would fit just right in a dorm-room.

When using a few songs that test the "bass depth" you may notice a slight vibration. Try using the test "Jurassic Lunch" the sound of the T-Rex coming is very dramatic and sounds good. Again its a big-boom speaker. Just dont expect the clarity to be there !

Make sure to definately shop around, the price of this unit can really vary from store to store

Strength:

My first powered sub, as opposed to a passive sub. There's no comparison.

Weakness:

It shakes the "collectables" off the shelves.

Ijust bought a Yamaha HTR5250 receiver and the bass was in-
adequate. After establishing a price range and then check-
ing the reviews on this site I decided Polk Audio PSW350 was the way to go. I put "U571" in the DVD player, I knew the depth charges were coming and they still threw me out of my chair. I love the Sub, but if anyone one out there can explain that "Phase toggle switch" to me I'd apprec-
iate it. I haven't figured out what difference it makes.
Other than that its a great sub. I have Boston Acoustic CR-6's in front and CR-5's in back, and and old Koss for the middle channel which works a lot better than some I've tried. Next the big screen HDTV,any suggestions out there?

Strength:

Loud, clear bass. Nice appearance.

Weakness:

Forward firing. A tad slow on music. Would be an overkill for a small room.

I've been very happy with this purchase. It shakes my walls and adds realism to my home theater. The Jedi vs Darth Maul fight scene in the Phantom Menace in particular comes to life with this sub. People posting reviews about shaking the house and annoying neighbors aren't exaggerating.

Musically, this sub sounds great, but delivers the bass just a little bit slow. Not really noticeable unless you are listening for it, but slow nonetheless. I'll use it for music until I get a chance to upgrade my fronts, at which time the sub gets dedicated to home theater.

It's still an outstanding sub...I haven't heard better in this price range. Also, it's not as placement sensitive as some I've tried. If I could I'd give it a 4.75 overall.

Strength:

small, nice looking

Weakness:

not enough power

i purchased this subwoofer to complete my home theatre system.
i found that you have to turn the volume almost all the way up to get an adequate response.
it sounded okay, just not enough power.
i returned if after about three days and now have the def tech pf15tl. 15 inch sub instead of 10... also has a 500 watt amp. paid $630 for it, so almost double the price of the polk... but you get what you pay for ... and the def tech certainly has the power... also sounds better, both for music and movies.

Strength:

Excellent bass for the size. This is the perfect solution for someone who wants instant bass without the fuss.

Weakness:

Price/Value

My downstairs neighbors used to play their bass loud and would never turn it down. My solution was to purchase this sub as a replacement for a small Yamaha sub that came with my home theater.

They move out three months later.

Strength:

Fast, unboomy bass, goes low for the price, the different possible hookups.

Weakness:

Lack of high pass filter, speaker level input are spring clip (not using anyways)

Replaced a cheap boomy Radio Shack junk with this sub. Been very pleased so far. It is able to shake the room in HT and is fast enough without the boominess for music(main reason I replaced the Radio Shack sub). It is built very well. I find it very useful that it has 3 different hookups, a LFE unfiltered input (for filtered sub out jacks on recievers) and filtere line level inputs for using the sub cross over along with the speaker level inputs. Currently use the unfiltered LFE input and this works well. 5 stars for sub in this price range. Also auditioned Klipsch KSW-12, Velodyne CT100, and Infinity Entrasub.

Strength:

Awesome bass! Nice clean design.

Weakness:

White noise when on stand-by mode.

This subwoofer is the best one I have heard in this price range. It could easily compare with ones that are twice as much! The white noise that You hear when in the stand-by mode is a little annoying, but if you don't like it simply switch it to the on position instead of auto. This thing cranks out the bass especially when watching movies like Independence Day, MI2,and Gladiator.I highly recommend this sub if you are in the market for one and don't want to spend a ton of money just to get great bass.My system is as follows , Yamaha rx-v 1000,RCA DVD player,5 JBL in wall speakers,Polk psw-350 subwoofer. As of now my DVD player is a basic one,but I plan to get a progressive scan model when I get my 55 inch HDTV.Try the sub you won't be dissapointed.Happy listening!
