Strength:

Excellent Imaging, Great Amplifier, Total control over the entire Sub. A Company that Stands behind their product.

Weakness:

None at this point...

This sub is outstanding. With one downward firing 10" driver, one forward 10" driver and its 200 Watt Amp, it creates an outstanding sound. The imaging is terrific. Combined with my Monitor Audio 4i's, 3i's and center 12i they are great. You will never now were the sub is located. This sub has power, tightness and you have total control of the sub, this is important. In regular stereo The sub, when teamed up with the 4i's is terrific. You would think I was playing some $25,000.00 speakers. No way a bookshelf speaker with a sub. As far as the Company Monitor Audio Is great to deal with. They know their product and the stand behind their product. David Solomin who is the USA VP answered any and ever question I had both pre and post sales. Go out and buy it. You will not hear a better sounding Sub.

I have just bought and installed this Sub, and it has been running in continously for the past 24 hrs, but I think it will need several days to fully bed in.

Thus it wouldn't be fair to give opinions now, save to say that after 24 hrs running in, there has been a dramatic improvement in sound.

I anticipate further improvements over the next few days so I will submit a full report later next week.

As background, my system is as follows :

Turntable : Rega Planar2/Rega RB250/Linn K9/Nad Phono Amp PP1 CDP : Marantz CD5000
MiniDisc : Sony MDS-JE530
Portable MiniDisc : Sharp MD-SR50
Tuner : Sony ST-SB920
Cassette : Pioneer CT-S440S
Amp : Nad C340 Intergrated, with Nad 218 power amp on order.
Speakers : Dynaudio Audience 40's on sand filled Apollo stands
Sub : Monitor Audio ASW210
Cable : Straightwire Waveguide 1.5
Interconnects : mixture of Cambridge Antlantic and Pacific.

Since I prefer the sound of standmounts over floorstanders, (and I love The Dynaudio's) I simply wanted more of what I already got, hence the addition of the Sub and the imminent arrival of the power amp.

Strength:

One the most accurate subwoofers avialable without breaking the bank.

Weakness:

HUM. Read Below.

I love this subwoofer, I have it mated to M.A Silver 5's along with a Pioneer Elite VSX-29TX THX Ultra receiver w/ 120 watts per channel. The ASW210 is an excellent all around performer. NO it will not wake the neighbors five house down but it WILL give you some of the best intergrated bass response your likely to hear period. I would not trade it for the world.

As a side note about the hum. The hum is being taken care of by M.A.. They made a running change to the ASW 210, the new 210 has a black oak finish as opposed to the black silky finish, the new one has no auto, standby, or off selection just on/off. The new also has better amplifier components to reduce hum. So why the hum you ask if I got a new one. Well M.A. made the change in about 4 steps, and it seems I got the 3 step change in which I got the almost perfect version. They are sending me a new amplifier to change out with my old one. It is said that this new amplifier will relieve the humming.

Other than that minor complaint, M.A. tech support is among the best in the industry and the product sounds a ton good.

I would buy it all over again.

Strength:

Fast, tight bass

Weakness:

Poor packaging from mfr

I'm using the ASW210 to fill in the bottom with Maggie 1.5's running full range as my main speakers. The ASW210 has the speed and tightness to keep up with the Maggies and integrated quite seemlessly. The ASW210 was the cheapest of the Subs I considered. It simply does the job too well to consider spending any more money on a sub.
