Klipsch RSW-15 Subwoofers

Klipsch RSW-15 Subwoofers

DESCRIPTION

Reference Series powered subwoofers shatter your expectations for deep, driving bass by playing louder and going deeper than significantly larger designs, creating the most dramatic, intense bass you've ever heard or felt. Designed from the ground up for class-leading, room-filling low-frequency performance, the RSW-15 is sonically, cosmetically and technologically matched to the Reference Series. Low-level inputs that also operate as an LFE input (for compatibility with 5.1 digital sound formats) and an adjustable low-pass crossover allow you to configure the subwoofer to your room's acoustics. The easy-to-reach, side-mounted volume control makes for simple setup and convenient level adjustments between music and movie sources.
The RSW-15 surpasses the performance of a conventional 21" single-driver subwoofer through intelligent engineering. Pairing a heart-throbbing 15" rear-firing Cerametallicâ„¢ active driver with a 3-inch voice coil and 30-pound motor assembly with a 15" front-firing passive radiator gives you more surface area than a 21" subwoofer in a much smaller footprint.
Powered by a 2400-watt BASH® digital high-efficiency hybrid amplifier, the drivers deliver earthshaking sound without detail-robbing distortion. The RSW-15 is available in furniture-grade blond maple, medium cherry or jet ash wood veneers.

Strength:

LOTSA POWER, MOST MUSICAL UNDER 1.5K BEAUTIFULL COPPER COLOR WOOFERS, volume knob on side

Weakness:

retail price,I love it but its only worth 1500.00 usd max,

Alrighty then, the rsw15 is hands down the most musical sub at the 1350 price.I tried several of the super subs everybody touts as great up to 2k,most all were great with HT.The problem was in music, most of the subs left me sticking my ear to them to see if they were on.The rsw15 on the other hand puts out mega bass as music, melodic, evenly flowing throughout the room.Bottom line, for HT 600 bucks will get a good sub,for music/concerts the rsw 12/15 is as good as it gets for less than 1.5k

Strength:

Strong melodious bass. Easy setup and blend very well with my Dynaudio towers. Goes down easely to 25 hertz or lower.

Weakness:

Pricey and large.

I was looking for a sub capable of awesome level of bass, this sub is it. Although it is expensive, it is well worth it. While listening to Star War the Clone attack in THX mode, the bass is awesome and seem efforteless. It litterally blows you away.

Strength:

Beautiful Fast Crisp

Weakness:

Does not go below 30hz

I got this and all my other Klipsch speakers from a frien who works at the Klipsch factory. The day that I got this monster in the mail I was impressed. Before you hook this up you will be amazed at its beauty (I got mine in cherry). After you hook it up you will not belive the clarity and speed it has down to 30hz. The only problem with the speaker is that it won't get much lower then 30hz. To improve this I am going to get a SVS Ultra to back up this bad boy.

Strength:

deep, mellow, and extremely controled bass. doesn't get sloppy like other big driver subs.

Weakness:

heavey as a mo fo, otherwise I can't think of much else.

truely a great sub. Admitadly, it's not the loudest model availible (see SVS or Velodyne HGS-18), however, I think it sounds better than both of these subwoofers. Actually, it's pretty equal in terms of sound quality with the HGS-18, it just looses out in the last octave (below 25 hz reproduction), but this isn't a big problem since 99 percent of bass is around 50-60 hz. I have had a chance to test alot of subs in my home, (Klipsch RSW-15, Definitive PF1500tl +, Velodyne HGS-18, JBL-PB12, Klipsch KSW-15, the list goes on for awhile), so I have a good deal of experience with them. I think that the RSW-15 is the best option because they're decently priced at 1249, so you could buy about 3 of them instead of one Velodyne HGS-18,plus they are awsome looking!

Strength:

* Ultra Powerful * I have yet to have it distort * Easy installation into new or exisisting setup

Weakness:

* None

The RSW15 exemplifies that a subwoofer should be, and how it should perform. For Movies, you''ll want a subwoofer that can effortlessly play the extremely low frequencies found in today''s soundtracks. The RSW15''s 2400 watt amplifier and passive radiator coupling allow it to not only play bass so low you''ll feel it (most literally), it also makes for an ultra-effecient design. There are many other subwoofers in the class of this one, but have a hard time holding up under pressure because of their ineffeciencies and weak amplifiers. It''s hard to convey just how incredible the sound quality and output on this sub is in text, so you really need to experience it first hand. You won''t be disappointed...

Strength:

Strong, deep bass ... so much deep, clean bass you need to be careful how loud you crank it up. High quality materials used in the cabinet and driver. Side volume control, which is nice.

Weakness:

A little pricey. Also the I had trouble with the auto on/off feature.

I bought this sub sight unseen from a local electronics retailer. I took a big gamble and boy did it pay off big time. When I first plugged this in I used a music CD playing in 5-ch stereo mode to test the sub's response. Needless to say, I was blown away (nearly literally). I had the volume on the sub cranked up a little too high and it shook the entire room (my wife came running and asked what the heck was that??) After getting the volume set correctly, I tried several DVD movies, including The Fast and the Furious, Saving Private Ryan, and Gone in 60 Seconds. The rumble of the cars made it feel as though they were right outside the room. The explosions of the bombs made you wonder if your house was under attack. I'm only halfway joking ... this sub is that good. The only problem I had with it is the auto on/off feature did not work as I expected. It took too long to power on (>5 minutes) after being sent a low frequency signal from the amp. Fortunately, you can disable that feature and just power it on when you need it. Bottom line ... if you invest in good Klipsch speakers, especially the Reference Series, get this sub ... you will not be disappointed.
