Strength:

very good bass response with no distortion. very strong sub for the money

Weakness:

none

Just purchased 2/17/03, only have listened to it for a few hours, all I can say is WOW!!!! A very good sounding sub for the money. The kids were watching Monsters Inc. I was outside and could hear it out there with the windows rattling. My theater room is about 15'x30' and it really works great.

Strength:

Design, tonality, efficiency, durability, price

Weakness:

Great design would benefit from a higher quality speaker, particularly a larger magnet and beefier voice coil to really handle some insane rumble without approaching an overloaded flap-out.

Probably the best inexpensive subwoofer on the market. With a bit of tweaking, this Klipsch can provide decently articulate lows, solid abrupt punch with minimal flap-out (if set correctly), and can "mimic" the warmth and perceived musicality of better-designed high-end subs that contain far greater quality loudspeakers. Excellent features, solid connections and controls, great rumble is on tap for flicks, and serious beef can be dialed in for any kind of music. A truly complimentary component that does exactly what it is supposed to without being overly placement-sensitive. Just watch the level settings on the unit and from your receiver or preamp, you can easily overburden or overload it turing a satisfying experinece into an alarming flap-out of immense proportions, shortening your driver cone's life as well. If you can't feel and hear dramatic bass and deep low-midrange compliment to your existing reference speakers, for example, try moving it around rather than simply turning it up.

Bought to go with my ss-1 and sc-1 klipsch center and surround speakers. I have MTX AAL15 fronts. I got at a great price on a special. Everywhere else in town wanted $420-450. I will not buy off the interent. I'm not familer with this audio stuff so the settings are taking some adjusting but i love this sub!! Star wars or twister sounds so good it sends chills up my spine. I find myself buying movies solely for the sound effects!! No complaints yet. Everyone on this site complain about bottomoing out and blowing fuses. you people are nuts, what do you have this thing set at? My level control is at 5 or 6 and it's enough to bring down the house during some action scenes

Strength:

It goes to 11.

Weakness:

Maybe it needs to break in a bit more, but the Blackhawk Down DVD overpowered it several times. I will continue to play with the sub and the receiver settings.

Good size, good sound. It definately takes some fiddling with the controls to get the sound correct. Very smooth sound that blends well with other Klipsch speakers.

Strength:

Powerful yet Smooth Bass!

Weakness:

Feedback! Feedback! Feedback!

The Sub has been great in every aspect. However, there has been one issue with it. I've been getting a low feedback from it when I shut my reciever off. This problem seems to be common as my brother has the 10" model, and gets the same problem occasionally. Really starting to bug me!

This sub is awesome! I would guess this to be one of the best around for the price. Really finished out the home theater experience.

Strength:

I would characterize the two strengths of the KSW-12 as extremely accurate reproduction of low frequency sounds with the necessary power to deliver them to the listener.

Weakness:

The only drawback to the KSW-12 is its massive size and weight, both complicate interior furniture arranging.

I am very satisifed with the Klipsch KSW-12 subwoofer. It added a great deal to the home theater listening experience of cable TV, VCR tapes, and of course DVDs.

Strength:

Sound, ability to adjust via, crossover/volume/phase...big boom for little bucks

Weakness:

Original drivers need improvements, motor too small, excursion too short. Original driver can distort at high volumes.

I've owned this sub for about 3 years, at the time it had the biggest bang for the buck, control, loudness, authority, realism. My sub is one of the first models that had a front firing woofer with a passive radiator in the rear, controls for phase, volume and crossover on the front. Recently the woofer was blown so I searched for a new after market driver to replace it (retail)before trying to get a factory Klipsch sub. I tried a Sony driver which had some improvements but lacked the excursion in high volumes, next I tried a Rockfort Fosgate sub (punch sub) 12in. the difference was immediate with much improvement in every area, much much louder, deeper, fuller, more control (musical) punchier, oh and did I mention louder! This $79 driver made this sub a beast, that rattles every room in the entire house with ease. If anyone is thinking of ways to improve the performance of this sub I would recommend trying this before spending major cash on wire etc. Nothing can beat this improvement for the $. Now I want two. Just for kicks I'm I'm going to buy another Punch sub and replace the passive drive with it in a push-pull configuration, I expect even more control (less slop) and even louder bass. If I can get this sub for $79 bucks at the store Klipsch could buy masses of them for at least no more than $40 each, they could mark up the price of their subs by $100 make a profit and beat just about anything under $1500.

I love this sub! I can't believe how good it sounds, especially because it is so affordable. Fans of Spinal Tap will love that "It goes to 11"! Seriously...the gain control on the back goes to 11! I laughed so hard I cryed when I first opened up the box.

Tight and solid base.

Awesome. This sub is fanstastic. How anyone can give this sub a bad review is beyond me. Some say it's too boomy for music - I don't think so. Some say it's not boomy enough for HT - I don't think so. If you take this sub straight out of the box and expect it to blow your socks off - forget it, no sub can do that. This sub comes with controls for a reason - adjust them (and perhaps your receiver too)! Maybe then, you'll learn to appreciate what a great sub this is!
