Strength:

Easy connections, simple installation

Weakness:

I would like a front LED to see if the amp is on or off.

My KLH 11's use to be very basey until I changed out the
crossovers in them. Now they are much brighter, but I
had to give up base to obtain a more true reproduction.
With the KHL ASW 10-120 it allows me to capture the base
again better than the KLH 11's could reproduce. The costco
deal is a bargain if you check out the prices around. I
paid the 99.00 and am pleased with the value for the money.

Certainly there are larger amplifiers and better woofers
on the market....but what is the objective here. Mine
was to amplify the 50hz to 200 hz signals and adjust them
to my taste. It works.

Strength:

Low Low cost $99.00 at Costco.

Weakness:

Boomy. Slow to quit moving

Well, I picked up an Velodyne CT-120 Sub 2 weeks ago. It
costed me around $550.00. It sounds pretty nice. Not as
nice as the $1600.00 models that I could not afford.
Went shopping at Costco last week and saw these KLH subs
there for $99.00. My wife said I could take back the Velodyne and pick up two of these and have money left over.
So I picked up one of them to check out. Well, I had to
make adapters for the speaker input connections. The Velodyne has the banana plug inputs and the KLH has the
push to open the hole type. After making them I set the
sub up for some tests. Set the crossover at 80 and the
level to around 2-3. I was playing some movies on my Sony
S3000 DVD player and some current and old music. Some bass
parts were just missing on some songs with very low lows. The sub was too boomy too. Like the bass hit would linger
for a quarter second or so. So as the old saying go's ,"you get what you pay for". I must continue to eat
beans to keep the Velodyne. It is nice to see a powered
sub for $99.00 though. Because I know how it is. I do not
have millions to spend on the home theater system. Maybe one can beef up the inside dampning material and make it a little tighter. Recvr: Denon 3300. Room: 14x18

Used it for 3 days and it fried

Has great sound for watching dvd's, but broke after 3 days. It smelled like something fried on the inside (circuit or something). I have a new one but I am hesistant about how long this will last. To be fair though, when it is working it sounds the best at this price point.

You get what you pay for: crap

Ok, I returned the first one I bought after the amp fried after only 3 days. Well the second started making a loud pop after the automatic shutoff turned off the speaker. It startles the hell out of me. This is unacceptable, I was willing to give the KLH another try but I am returning this one and paying an extra 70 bucks for a sony SA-WM40. Much better quality and reliability.

Stay away from this crap. It is a waste of time and money, it is best to save a few extra dollars for a better quality sub.

Strength:

This powered subwoofer is very good

Weakness:

Costs $2,000 on sale

I heard one of these powered subwoofers at bestbuy and it is very good. One draback is the price. But is sounds better than JBL. I do not own one of these powered subwoofers. It rattles to much for the price.

Strength:

Excellent price $99 at Costco

Weakness:

Terrible port noise when playing the movie 5th Element (opening until the kid with the camel appears)

Had to return the AR I had just bough as it had a faulty auto on sensing switch, no more in stock so I took money in search of another SW...BTW that unit performed wonderfully playing all the movies wiht intense bass sequnces. Stopped in at Costco and picked up the KLH ASW 10 for $99. Figured it could do the job for about 1/3 the price of the AR. Took it home..set it up..played the opening of the 5th Element and was met with the most god awful sucking and trashing sound coming for the speaker's vent port. When the intense bass would start..so would all the noise. I had the cross set to the 12 O'clock positin and the volume set to 1/4...it was terrible..when I backed the volume to almost off..the noise would go away..but then It was operating like a passive sub. No way does this unit compare to the AR in performance...the AR had a vented enclosure compared to a single port like th KLH. I'm begining to wonder if a vented enclosure wouldn't solve this subs problem
