Strength:

Deep bass, price, service

Weakness:

none

I chose the Hsu VTF-2 based on the enthusiastic recommendations of fellow posters on the Axiom message boards. The purchase was easy, shipping prompt. Setup was easy...I had some hum from a ground loop, but this was easily overcome by using the included "cheater" plug. Setup and calibration were a snap using an included CD with bass-heavy audio selections and test tones. For music, the VTF-2 is wonderful. When properly set up, you do not know it is there...it is just as if your main speakers are putting out more bass. Accurate, deep bass is the name of the game. It is in home theater applications that the Hsu really struts its stuff. The airplane crash scene from "Fight Club" is a particularly demanding sequence, and with this Hsu sub it is almost as it you are actually there. Make sure all the breakables are secure, because you will rattle the room. The instruction manual is crude, but has all the information you will need to set up and enjoy your Hsu sub. If you need more information, you can call or e-mail Hsu Research, and get your problem solved. In short, a great sub at a great price. Strength:

Very musical; it isn't limited to just an annoying thump. Plenty of power for a small-medium room. Great price.

Weakness:

Not the most attractive design--the new rosewood veneer model is an improvement, but further finishes would be nice.

After years of listening to friends' systems with blunt, brash, and just plain bad sounding subwoofers, it was quite educational, for lack of a better word, to hear what a subwoofer *should* sound like. My wife wanted to strangle me when I mentioned ordering a subwoofer, as all she could imagine was a loud thumping noise. Once she heard some of her favorite music with the VTF-2 though, she changed her mind, despite the utilitarian look. For my room, it provides plenty of boom for HT, and it just plain sounds good with music.

Strength:

Powerfull, fast and very clean sound. Migrates very well with my Martin Logan's Electrostatics.

Weakness:

Small paint marks on the front od the box (This is a B-Stcok model)

I've had the opportunity of seriously playing with many Subwoofers much more costly than the VTF-2 and I have to take my hat off and bow to HSU. The quality and definition that this unit puts out it is, simply, the best I've heard. I've had this unit side by side to the B&W, 3K unit and to the the Focus speaker system from Audio-Legacy which they dont require a sub. and the little VTF-2 beat them both by a far margin, specially in bass definition. This is it !!! Bare-none, the VTF-2 is the BEST sub at any price range.

Hats off to Dr.Hsu&co.I was looking to replace an old M&K.Went out looking for about 6 months but nothing from $500to$800 seemed to sound any better than what I had. After talking to Dr.Hsu I decided to give the VTF-2 a try. Man this sub Makes you feel the music.I checked out plenty of other subs but nothing can come close to the VTF-2 for the price.

Strength:

True bass with no distortion.

Weakness:

None that I have found yet.

Simply put, this is one of the best values I have seen in the home theater market. It simply does everything I wanted in a subwoofer. I needed to replace a subwoofer that I was not satisfied with. For my tastes, I needed something that would work great with music and not just movies. I was prepared to spend over a grand to meet this need. That is until I heard the VTF-2 at a Home Entertainment show. I can finally listen to acoustic, up-right bass without cringing.

This is, hands down, one of the most accurate subs I've heard. I spent several months testing out other brands and finally chose HSU. Once I heard this sub in action I was hooked. So damn powerful that pictures would rattle of the neighbors apartment wall. I really had to watch it for a while until I got a place of my own to really work this thing. Easily the strongest component in my system. A great buy!!!!

VERY CLEAN BASS-simply dial in how much you or significant other can take.

Weakness:

N/A BTW; got a B-stock unit with one open port and one sealed,{max extension} extra savings just bonus for this top notch product!!!

There are already plenty of positive reviews for this item,i sort of feel guilty for not posting my comments for sub shoppers, {like not bothering to vote!} I get all the bass i hoped for and then some. Had used a yamaha sub with an 8 inch driver for 6 or 7 years, but knew many improvements have been made over the years. thanks to this site i hit the bulls-eye on the first try!

Loud, Clear, Beautiful. Kills all other products in this price range and beyond.

Weakness:

The power cord is about the length you'd expect but I am always wondering when the hell people will start being considerate and double it to a truly usable length, I'm willing to pay just that little bit for a longer cord... it would be perfect if this small detail would be spruced up allittle 8 )

Let's skip all the lead in and get to the point... -Best sub under $500 I've ever heard. -Nice revamped finish which was the only downside ever mentioned with this sub.. -kix so much a$$ with music and movies it's a no-brainer must buy for any starter or medium system. -Ultra low low bass for that tingly in the back of your throat feeling . -Bumpity bump WOW factor is outstanding compared to similiar priced subs. -Very nice adjustable sound modes to fiddle with when you get bored... -neato bass cd to feel the music right out of the box. -big enough for an end table, small enough to hide somewhere if you have the room. -A feeling of truly getting what you paid for (may be the only time you ever get to say that..) This was the last addition to my HT and multi-entertainment room, and I am amazed I did it for this much money. Very, Very pleased customer.

Strength:

Fit, finish, size, power, clarity, punch and polish.

Weakness:

None that I've found so far, not even the dreaded hum.

Amazing product. I already own the VTF-3 as my sub for my main HT system. I needed a smaller sub however for my bedroom surround system. I used my old JBL PB-12 for a while but then sold it to a girlfriend for her first system. I looked at other small subs but none struck me. Finally I said, what the hell, I'll give the VTF-2 a try. If it's already good enough for my main system why not upstairs. I won't bore you with rehashes of previous posts. The things small, pretty, tight and amazing. Integrates seamlessly with my Platinum audio mains. Small enough for fit behind the TV yet loud enough to rock the house. Good WAF factor too. You can't go wrong for $449.00 direct plus shipping. Buy with confidence.
