Strength:

Loud and Powerful enough to be a good HT sub.

Weakness:

Not the most musical sub I've heard.
Large footprint.

I got this sub used, and not knowing anything about it, I wasn't expecting much from a DCM, but I wanted to try some monitors matched to a sub. I was pretty impressed overall. Not greatly musical in a dedicated 2 channel system, but still reproduced relatively tight bass. Extension was low enough that I never really saw the bottom. I no longer needed a sub in my 2 channel system, so this sub is now in my brother's HT system. This seems to be what this sub was built for. Good power and impact, with that "move your couch" rumble. If you need a cheap sub for HT, and can find one used, I don't think you will be too disappointed. My mediocre rating takes into account both music and HT performance.

Strength:

very loud, has stayed on for 2 years & no problems

Weakness:

needs a bypass input to use with sub output from A/V amp

Has been in use for 2 years & fits in great with my THX
system. Some bad reviews may be due to using it across the
speaker line instead of using it with the receivers sub
output. The sub was out of box with no warranty sale normal
599 but now 400 (early 99) & was the biggest bang for the buck I could find.
