B&W ASW 650 Subwoofers

B&W ASW 650 Subwoofers

DESCRIPTION

The ASW650 has all the attributes of the ASW600, but is more suited to larger rooms because of its greater output capability, achieved by a combination of a larger cabinet, driver and amplifier. In this case the driver is a 300mm (12 in) unit that can go lower in the bass that its smaller sibling. Its capabilities are fully exploited by the powerful 200W on-board amplifier.

Strength:

has ample power for most usage

Weakness:

does not go low enough.. should have a port is not everything it should be for brand and price

there are many things about this sub that are good... though the are many the reverse also... while the price is fitting for the subwoofer, it must be said that i am very disappointed by the lack of depth of the sound. sure, most people would over look this because it does pack a punch a few hertz higher (around 30) but for those like me who use it 99% for HT then it could be better. the ported system of the asw1000 is much more appropriate for HT.since that is no longer with us... this is the next best alternative... though it must be said here. that the size is great. (applause to B&W for this) for those who live in appartments, stop complaining about the size and buy a smaller sub. if you want the bass and the range of sound then buy this and dont complain on here. no one wants to hear it. when compared to the asw600, there is no significant difference to warrant the purchasing of this. i did indeed return it for a asw1000 which i had had the store manager keep for me. the amplifier power has been increased to cover the port (which has made the sound go less deep, yes it is noticable) and the rumblings at around 35hz the sub is good and does hte job.. but this is for those who buy the equipment and then overlook the bad points and point out only the good ones anyone who wants to discuss this further... please e-mail me, dont be shy dont be fooled... it is a very nice sub and kicks most (almost all) of the similarly priced equipment... but lacks a bit... everywhere

Strength:

Good performance, good value.

Great sub for the money. Sealed design, so no port noise at higher SPL's.

Strength:

GREAT BUILD QUALITY, SPIKES AND PADS SUPPLIED WITH SUB(YOUR CHOICE). TONS OF POWER. LOADS OF CONNECTION POSSIBILITIES.

Weakness:

ALMOST TO MUCH BASS. IF THATS ACTUALLY POSSIBLE!

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SUB TO BE LISTED ON THIS WEBSITE FOR WHAT SEEMS LIKE FOREVER. I WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE TO OWN ONE THESE MARVELOUS SUBS IN MY HOME TOWN. I ORDERED IT AND IT TOOK A MONTH FOR ME TO GET IT. THIS SUB WAS DEFINATLY WORTH THE WAIT. IT ROCKS THE WALLS IN MY APARTMENT. I CAN'T EVEN TURN UP THE VOLUME ON THE SUB PAST A 1/4 TURN BECAUSE IT IS SIMPLY TO POWERFUL! THE SUB BLENDS IN NICELY WITH MY WHARFEDALE PACIFIC 40'S IN FRONT AND THE 30'S IN THE REAR. GREAT SPEAKER, AND ALL YOU COULD POSSIBLY NEED FOR LOW FREQUENCY.
