Strength:

very powerful sunfire amp, looks, rigid woofer, price and value

Weakness:

foam surround, front controls easy to be moved or broken

I dont think you can find a better sub for the money. I was used to the pdr-10, which I felt was good for HT but sucked for music, it just rattled and made unnatural noises....enter the ARS 300. I found it on AOK.net inc, it was very cheap (for reasons I will never understand) and I saw it was powered by a sunfire amp, so why not take a chance? this sub is easy to set up, it gives you plenty of hook up options and setup options...also gives you a switch that changes between audio and video. this sub literally shakes the room, and sounds great doing it...no rattle, very responsive....if you are a cost conscious audio enthusiast, I cant recommend this sub highly enough.

p.s. AOK.net is an excellent online retailer...even with a day off for systems being down, this sub was delivered in less than a week using UPS ground....bravo, guys. :o)

Strength:

Tight/smooth/high output/slick cabnet/clean ports enclosure/LFE out

Weakness:

crappy crossover freq knob, crappy phase switch

I have gone through three woofers, one small 8' one and two 15'. The 8 was ok with music but was terrible with movies, then i got the big ones and the Infinity had some impact but was real sloppy/boomey, then it broke down and i got a cheap 15'; it was all boom/no punch or tightness, just a big sloppy POS.

I decided from my studies I would be happy with a well built 12 incher in my 15x15 room and i was right, in fact this baby puts out more impact in movies, and for music its just goes beyond high expectations...

Music : My old 15' put out boom with music but no tighness at all ( either of them ), the ARs300 had even MORE bang and its so tight it blends in no matter how high the volume. I don't even like the walls to rumble with this anymore; i like music at a level now that i thought i never would, so it blends with the music and you can't even tell its on but makes the biggest difference at the same time. Music by Sugar Ray, Spears and Jen Lopez really have a great rythem for a perfect demo CD or MP3

Movies : I love my movies really loud and thunderous. With this new woofer i have more bang in my explosions and more thump in my gunfire. Gunfire scenes like in Heat ( drive through shootout ) and Last Man Standing give new and improved impact from the bullets, and the impact doesn't trail off or give muddy effects, its all tight and powerfull. Explosions now make me grind my teeth like especially in Lost In Space, Armeggeddon, and Starship Troopers.

Basically with this woofer you get tight/clean/punchy bass with music and a bigger jolt/blast with movies. It is way better then the BU-150 in all aspects and ( close price ) and the Audio Source from Costco is a pure glorified piece of junk.

You will be at least satisfied with this purchase if not blown away. If you are considering going cheap and getting a small or cheap woofer: DON'T!, save up for a Acoustic Research ( s500 if needed ) and get more for your hard earned dollar, trust me its worth the wait. I got mine from www.brandnamez.com and they sent it UPS-ground and it came to me in 2 DAYS!!! Make sure you buy good cables and try different postions, both make a big difference: trust me on this. Goodluck

Strength:

Tight Mid Bass, Front mounted Volume Control

Weakness:

Crossover

I was very impressed by the output of this Subwoofer given it's 12" size. The only thing that would make me feel more like I was actually in the movie would be a flaming bowel movement from Gene Sherman's ass. Now that's an explosion. Ask his wife.

Strength:

Tight bass, great blend with other speakers, A/V switch, front panel volume control, well constructed, very handsome

Weakness:

??Heavy??

Great amp, great price, great company to order it from. I got my ARS300 from audiovideo4u.com (which just happened to be in my city, Housoton) and couldn't be happier. I got the sub and noticed that a screw on the back was vibrating during heavy, deep bass. The vibrations were not noticable when there was the smallest amount of treble playing. But I called audiovideo4u and told them my situation. The owner drove all the way across town (Houston being a huge town) to my neighborhood to bring me a new ARS300. I already had the other one installed and calibrated so I just put the new one where the vibrating screw one was. At $800 list, and $395 from audiovideo4u.com, I couldn't find a better deal. I never thought my system could sound so great. Plenty of power, tight, quick bass response. The x-over really isn't a weakness if you know the best way to hook up your system. (Use the LFE input on the ARS300 and let the receiver be the x-over.) This sub goes deep!!!

Strength:

Sound, power, clarity, looks, everything.

Weakness:

None so far, save picking nits about the X-over knob

Wondeful sub, great power.

Bob Carver's amp always comes through! Deep sound, more bass than you'll ever need. Great in DD/DTS, Stereo, and, hell, even TV!

I wouldn't trade it for the world!
