Strength:

Incredibly accurate sonics, gorgeous cabinet, built like a brick . .

Weakness:

None at this price, only bettered by far costlier subs

The Titan II is a killer, pure and simple. Previously, I had found only REL subs to meet my standards for musical reproduction. As far as HT goes, there are plenty of subs that can sound like train wreaks.
Myself, I am easily irritated by a sub that gets in the way of the music, most of them do. The REL and the Titan II are the only two subs that I've heard that completely disappear and let you hear all the quality of the main system, yet with a low-bass foundation added. I'm not an engineer, but my guess is that the very solid cabinets of both the REL and the Titan have a lot to do with it. The other thing they both have in common is a crossover point that can be adjusted to a very low setting. The REL can adjust even lower than the Titan IIs 35Hz, but I've found the 35Hz to be more than adequate.
So why is this sub now my favorite over the REL? First, it is about 1/2 the price, $1K vs. $1800. Second, it sounds every bit as good and actually plays to louder sound levels. A complete winner. If you haven't yet found a sub that completely disappears, order a Titan II, you will not be disappointed!

Weakness:

None that I can find! Though, it could use a coat of Poly to make it shine a little more like furniture and floor spikes are not included.

The first thing that impressed me was the prompt shipping.
I paid over the phone with a credit card. The very next day after paying, Audio Concepts sent me a Tracking Number. First impressions are important, and this was good.

I recieved my Titan ll about a week later, Undamaged. They packed it so good, it would have be impossible to get damaged. Double boxed with styro between the two boxes.

After unpacking it, I was happy to find out it was very heavy. In my book, a heavy speaker is 'one' of the makings of a good speaker. I know looks are unimportant to the sound quality, but this sub is pretty. Though, I do feel it could use a coat of poly or something to make it shine a bit more than it currently does.

Hooking the Sub up was simple. No brains required!
I adjusted the sub by ear and it sounded GREAT for not being broke in. It blends right in with my B&W speakers.

I had a few questions so I called Audio Concepts. They promptly returned my phone call and answered all my questions.

I am currently letting the Titan ll run for 50 hours to break it in. I will then adjust the frequency after break in again as well as experiment with moving it to different locations of the listening room. It should sound even better after being broke in.

I would recommend this sub to anyone looking for the "Top Of The Line" at a reasonable price. The Titan ll is Great!

Strength:

Looks, performance when used for both music and home theater.

Weakness:

The manual could be better, long break-in before it sounds its best (not really a weakness).

I guess you can add me to the growing list of Titan II believers...

I have been waiting 3 years to find a sub that could keep up with my 5 Legacy Audio Studios (that I use for both music and HT). The Studios are great mini-monitors, but it is really hard to get a sub to integrate well/keep up with them.

Well, after many failed integration attempts (and they really *do* need a sub for the last octave and a half), along comes the Titan II...

I think the strongest advancement over the regular Titan, is the dual low-pass crossovers. They make integrating the sub with difficult speakers like mine easier. I was a bit weary at first (after my previous failures), but it really works! I now have a match that is so close I can't tell I am using a sub... The only evidence is that when it is called for, the low-end comes to life (but not the boom, boom, boom like I got before). The sub never calls attention to itself... now making music listening quite a new experience for me.

I think that HT performance gets overlooked a bit by people looking at this sub. All subs do *not* do HT the same... I can safely say the Titan II does HT *really* well. Before, I got a lot of low frequency distortion that could be perceived as great performance, but I am hearing things in movies I never realized were there. Maybe the Titan II does not get as loud as some other subs on the market, but I think it can hold its own quite well in the resolution department (which is more important to me). Oh, and yes, it gets *more* than loud enough for my mid-sized room.

I should also add that the fit and finish of the sub was much better than I imagined... I got mine in the natural cherry. Not quite up to Legacy Audio caliber, but quite good regardless.

Overall a fine addition to my Music/HT system and a very good value at $1000 (and I never thought I would say that).

Strength:

Looks, build quality, sound quality, ability to disappear into a room (non-intrusive).

Weakness:

Too loud, if that can be counted as a weakness.

Simply the best sound without any distortion. Even though it reaches its' 20 Hz with the help of electronics, you'd never know it. Rock solid performer so far.

Can't turn the volume up on my receiver (Panasonic SA-AX7) past the nine 0'clock position on just about any movie with decent LFE. Rattles the walls and windows. And this is in a room with 14' ceilings and wide open space. The room is not equipped for home theater as such, but I do have the sub about 2 feet from the back wall and about 6 feet from a side wall. Absolutely deafening!

And yes, people do wonder where the subwoofer is. They see all the other speakers just fine (towers are kinda hard to conceal), and they are amazed when I point it out to them. This sub is a work of art from build quality to sound quality. Highly recommended to one and all. Just make sure your room can handle it.

P.S.: Did consider the Bag End, Velodyne and M&K counterparts, but ...

Strength:

Definition, musical reality, seemless integration with mains

Weakness:

Not as loud as my Velo

The Titan II is a major step for ACI. I had a Titan, liked it a lot, but liked my REL better. Now I like the Titan II better than the REL, for a lot less money! The Titan II plays louder than the Titan did, about the same as the REL but not as loudly as my 18" Velo. However, it disappears better than any sub I've heard on all kinds of music and Ht. Oh, the cabinet appearance and quality is really exceptional. I wish ACI wasn't such a "well -kept secret" because their stuff is great and they go out of their way to be helpful
