poor durablity

I purchased this unit for my son who is 15. It was much cheaper than its iPod counterpart. Although he was disappointed that it wasn't an iPod, he generally liked the unit. He had some software problems that he was able to resolve.
The problem started about 2 weeks after the 3 month full warranty expired. The unit wouldn't turn on. I called Sony and they said to take it to Sears. Sears saind to go through Sony. Sony said that for $82.50 I could send it to Laredo, TX since it was still under a parts, but no labor warranty.I expect better quality from Sony. This product has been a big disappointment.
