Strength:

bass is sweet(psw-650), clear highs, size.

here is my setup

jvc 35inch
onkyo tx-ds777(b)
sony 5 disk dvd player
polk rm7500

first off im going to talk about the sub (psw-650), my lord does this thing want to show off. the two 10's in the 650 sound quite well. also i like the volume knob on the bass, some music tracks have exaggerated base and when you go to watch a movie you might want a little more punch. so instead of reprograming your reciever you just turn this well hidden knob under the polk insignia. in all the 650 is clear and powerful.

now to the center: with two 5 1/4'in mids and a 1'inch tweeter this center sounds incredible. voices sound extremely realistic, might as well have the people in the room with you. highs are in typical polk fasion getting a review of "sweet".

now to the satellites: each have a a 5 1/4' in mid and a 1'inch tweeter. all four if the speakers are the same.
and even though they sound amazing, also they have a great ability to handle power. my onkyo can send some massive electrons but the polks seem to act cool, and never distort. although a slight hiss comes into play. probably some interferance im gettin' from wiring around my tv and computer.

some of the movies i used were:

saving pvt ryan, where you almost start to think "were dying out here".

u-571, with underwater depth charges and the hull taking alot of pressure you realize you are also holding your breath.

5th element, when the alien starts to sing the speakers show her vocal detail. and then explosions shortly afterward. shows the control of the speakers.

matrix, never have i heard bullet shells hitting the deck so clearly. feeling the chopper blades thumping my chest.
nice.

all in all i think these are the best money can buy in this price range.

I have become enamored with the product. My only problem is that I can't seem to find any great deals anywhere. I can't find it being sold locally and online it is either USED or REFURBISHED or AS NEW. I have also been told that Crutchfield is the only authorized online dealer. Is this true? Does anyone know of another dealer that will sell at wholesale prices? What ever happened to buyitnow.com??? PLEASE HELP! I WANT THESE SPEAKERS BUT I DON'T WANT TO PAY A MINT!

Better than Bose

I haven't set it up yet...but i'm sure it will blow me away once I do....

Just thought i'd share that you can probably get this system for around 1100 or less if you try liquidprice.com...

That's where I got my RM7500 for
$1084(including S&H and Tax)...what a steal/deal!

Strength:

Very strong sub, nice finish, superb sound quality, and life-like clarity.

Weakness:

Soundstage could be better.

There's very little that hasn't been said about these speakers on this site. The build quality is excellent and the sub is first class. I've been auditioning different speakers for a month and very, very few, within the same price range, came close. The first time I listened to them was in a crowded and noisy sound room at the WIZ. But despite the noise at the store, I could tell how wonderful the sound was even at an outrageous level. The salesperson had to crank up the volume; the only way I could hear the speakers above the noise. My list came down to two speakers: Atlantic Technology T170 and the RM7500. The only place where I could hear the T170 was at Sound City, 45 miles from my house. The sound was good but didn't blow me away. The salesperson turned on the 270THX and I knew I didn't want the T170. Went back to the WIZ to listen to the RM7500 again and the rest was history. The only thing that needs improvement with these speakers is the soundstage. Although it's not offensive, the depth could be improved. This is evident when listening to music. But with DSP and other special effects found on many receivers, this becomes a very minute issue. As far as the finish is concerned, it works for my wife. Initially we were going to cover it with something to hide since it sits in a corner. But it looks so good we left it the way it is. Some people don't like the gloss but it matches some of our furniture.

Strength:

Powerful Sub would make a perfect compliment to any system.

Weakness:

Nothing for the price you are paying.

Their great speakers to listen to music with, but they are even better at movies.

Similar Products Used:

I wouldn't say similar but I had Bose speakers for a couple of years before they were outclassed by the RM7500.

Strength:

Build quality, subwoofer clarity, sound in both 2-ch. and 5.1, gold binding posts

Weakness:

Hernia-inducing sub, glossy finish is reflective and shows prints. Hard-to-find

Yeehah! My home theatre construction is finally far enough along that I've been able to do proper "live-fire" tests and tweaks over the last week+ The satelites take everything my Denon AVR5700 can throw at them (up to the distortion limits) and give me every whisper, pin drop and rustle just as clear as every shout, shot and crash. Both classical (inst. and vocal) and pop music sound as good as on this rig as movie sounds/music, with the highs coming through clean, and the sub rattling my teeth, all up and down the volume scale.

Minuses are small: glossy black laminate looks tres chic, but is awful shiny in a front-projection environment, and it shows fingerprints like a forensics lab. A matte finish might be better.

Bottom line: great sound, look good, strong sub, great value...buy 'em!

Weakness:

Biiiiiig Sub than what I expected - but its worth the weight ;-)

One thing far more than any thing else that convinced me to go for RM7500 is - it is no natural sounding!! You are so close to reality. Since other reviewers already mentioned about many other good things about this system - I shall end my review here my current home theater system:

Polk Audio 7500 speakers
Yamaha RX-V995 receiver
Sony 650D 5-disc DVD/CD/VCD player
Sony tape deck
Philips Magnovox TV 27" (going to be replaced)
Philips Magnovox VCR (going to be replaced)

Strength:

Without question, the center & sub

Weakness:

None to speak of.

If you want home theater sound, and you have good audio/video components, you won't be dissapointed with this set.
MOVIES:
I am running this satellite set through an HK AVR500, and a Proscan DVD player (both of which I did my research on, and they are also highly thought of). The only problem I have, is that popcorn made in the nuker is never as good as at the theater. (Translation: this speaker set kicks total ass)

MUSIC:
Ok, running a Pioneer PDM435 (old faithful) six pack through my HK, which really sounds great. I have had this CD player for 10 years, and have no intentions of replacing it (until it dies). This Polk Audio set replaced the Polk Audio 5400 set, which replaced Acoustic Research.
I tried several different CD's on this exact set up (HK AVR500 & RM7500) at Circuit City before purchasing. (Fleetwood Mac, Foo Fighters, Elton John) I figured this was a pretty good sample.
These speakers really put out some great sound. You literally could hear Fleetwood moving his striking position during Dreams. That just blew me away. I have heard that song for years on the radio, on my on system at home, and the set is the first I ever heard that picked it up. Pretty cool.

Strength:

Very clear sound with clear highs and lows. The sub absolutely kicks.

Weakness:

The set is a little heavier than I expected, but with the sound I cannot complain

I bought this product four months ago and have loved every minute of it. My friends are always impressed with its sound when they come over. I would recommend this set to anyone who wants great sound without a lot of space taken up. I would much rather have speakers that I can mount (like these) than two big towers next to the TV that sound just the same. I got mine from buyitnow.com for $1050 (used a 10% off coupon).
