Strength:

Low powerful bass, good price

Weakness:

center

This package is really good for the price. I love the bass produced from the subwoofers. Surrounds are ok, and the center could be better. I have to increase the volume on the center up a few notches. Maybe you don''t have to, but that''s just my preference.Overall, It sounds really good, much better than my aiwa speakers that I tossed out. There are alot of other nice systems, but I dont think you can find one as good for the same price.

Strength:

an all in one package with good sound .

Weakness:

one satellite arrived defective (it produced "scratches" in high volume) - i''m getting it replaced - but be sure to check urs before you throw off the packages !

i read about this speakers so much so i started to look around and see where can i buy them ... i foiund a good deal in stereo design , a nice place , and even though the salesman told me he''d recommend other speakers (from a brand i have''nt heard of) , i chose the JBL - i think the sound is great , and for home cinema - unbeatale at the price - as for music , it sound great in pro logic II with my onkyo 494 but i didn''t like it in stereo that much (7.5/10) - i guess for stereo satellites are not optimal ... a good buy for sure !

Strength:

Large, clean sound. Good bass when the sub is set up properly in the room.

Weakness:

None that I have found so far, but the system would probably not be the best for large rooms. I have mine set up in my bedroom which is 16'' x 12'' and they sound great.

You can''t go wrong with these speakers for the money. The sound will absolutely blow you away! It is amazing that such small speakers can produce such large sound. It is very important to get the sub set up properly to get the most from this system. I have mine near a corner against a wall. I found a trick to getting other manufacturer''s speaker stands to work with the JBLs. I used the wall mount bracket that comes with the speakers and attached it to the Bose speaker stands that I had. So far this is working really well.

Strength:

small size, solid quality, HT package with a very good sub woofer

Weakness:

Center speaker, only 50 watts.

Great package for a complete HT speaker system come with brackets at this great low price. The 100 watts sub woofer comes with LFE and is powerful enough for any DVD movies.
The center speaker is still weak and mud when high and low. I shouldn't complain at this price, hm.
Acutally, JBL needs packs a larger center speaker for whatever HT package since the size of center speaker doesn't matter for HT setup. I may be wrong. After all, this system is good at compact size and great moive effects for HT setup.

Strength:

Size, Mounting options, Quality Construction

I bought these speakers with an understanding that I could take them back if I didnt like them. Well, I couldn't find any reason to take them back. This is an excellent Home Theater speaker package to get anyone started. The size of the speakers vs the sound produced is incredible. The sub handles a nice range for an 8" woofer. Hey if you want more range, buy a larger woofer.

I also like the fact that I can hang the speakers with the directional brackets or put them on stands. A nice feature if you move into new house and don't want to ruin the walls.

Way to go JBL. For the price, you can't beat it.

Strength:

Solid performers in a compact design. Optional mounting methods give much flexibility in final placement descisions. Comes complete with mounting brackets and speaker wire

Weakness:

Center channel lacks depth. Perhaps larger drivers could be incorporated in subsequent models. LFE cable not included for sub

Was sold on this set the first time I layed ears on them!! Bass from the sub is solid and crisp, the highs and mid-range from the satellites are the closest to "live" as can possibly be had for anything in this price range. For size, quality, and performance, you would be hard pressed to find a better value. **Comes with a five year warranty**

Strength:

Size,bass,ease of set-up.

Weakness:

None for the price

What a great small speaker package. I would recommend this package to anyone who has a smaller room or apartment. The powered sub delivers floor shaking bass, while the satellites sound crisp & clean. After tweaking my Yamaha 5440,these speakers rival my old Bose system! Way to go JBL!!

although not an expert i think these speakers sound fantastic, and at the moment i only have them connected to a old 4channel amp and a Yamaha s510 DVD, so i can only listen in sterio, and they still make my mates bose accoustimas sound crap. iam planing to get a Yamaha reciever soon and i can hardly wait.i would like to know what others have the sub level set to ,whith the amp flat i set the sub at max for a dvd and half for music because it seems like way to much bass other wise

Strength:

Compact size, hanging brackets & speaker wire included, clear sharp sound, great bass

Weakness:

LFE Cable not included (not necessary though), but this is probably better since you'll want to buy a high quality cable if you'll be using Dolby Digital/DTS.

First I should descibe my setup:

Yamaha HTR-5250 Receiver (DD/DTS)
Pioneer DV-333 DVD Player
Philips 32" TV
Digital Optical & S-Video Cables
Monster Cable Interlink I201 Subwoofer Cable

This is all in a small room approx. 8' x 10'.

I can't say enough about these speakers. I was shocked by the huge sound that came out of the four tiny satellite speakers. The quality of the speaker construction and its components is impeccable (titanium-laminate tweeters!). Including the hanging backets in the package was a real nice bonus and a great money saver too. If you are concerned about these speakers sounding muddy at low levels...don't be! Just make sure that you set the speakers to "Small" on your receiver so that all the bass sounds go directly to the sub.

The center channel speaker is also deceptively small. Some users have said they would like something more powerful, but it is more than enough for me (plus you can always turn up the power via your receiver).

The 8"/100 watt/powered subwoofer absolutely pounds. It also gives you plenty of options concerning how to hook it up to your system. At first I used the speaker wire that was included in the package (this provided some great bass). Then I upgraded to the Monster Cable Interlink I201 Subwoofer Cable (I thought the room was going to crumble!).

I am currently using the pre-packaged speaker wire, but I am curious to know what kind of difference I would see if I was to use Monster Cable speaker wire. If anyone has done so, please send me an e-mail (ronsibley@yahoo.com).

These speakers have sounded excellent playing everything I've thrown at them in terms of movies & music. Let's put it this way...after watching T2, I checked my walls for bullet holes!...it's that good! Good luck putting together a better home theater speaker package for under $400! Great job JBL!!!

None yet.

These are great little speakers.I didn't know how well I would like the tiny speakers and sub, since I was used to the 15" woofers in my old front speakers.Well the first time I popped the DTS version of "Saving Private Ryan" into the DVD player I was literally blown away.I had never "felt" the movie except when I saw it at the theater. These are awesome speakers for the price.Highly recommended for those that don't want to spend an arm and a leg for a grat sounding system.
