Strength:

great sound
great looks
affordable
well built

Weakness:

surrounds should be a bit more powerful if anything, a bi more bass without a subwoofer but then again these are speakers people not subs

before you read this review order these speakes now before they get more expensive.
well now i got to tell you that this are the best speakers under 400 and price is just relative, if you want to spend 2000 on speakers be my guest i'll take fluance any day. these speakers look, sound, feel more expensive, they're really well built
i have them paired with on onkyo receiver and sound awesome specially for music since you have the towers.i don't think you have to break them in thouhg
i think they sounded great from day one. you do need a subwoofer thouhg
i don't think speakers are supposed to give you the lows, these speakers do a good job at that in small rooms but common get a sub and be prepared to be amazed. oakvillesound shipped them double boxed ,well protected and fast too

Strength:

Great Price, Awsome Sound, great company to deal with.

Weakness:

None to speak of

First I would like to say that these are top-notch speakers worth much, much more than what you pay for them. I have broken in these speakers with anything from classical music, rock music, soundtracks, Movies. I have bi-wired the front L/R units, and they get so much bass when i turned my 12" powered sub off it sounded like it was still on. Great array of highs, mids, lows nothing to complain about like some negitive people that listen to their friends new setup for 3 mins and determine before the breakin period that they don't sound like $5000 speakers. I am sure $5k-$10k speakers could sound better but it is like comparing a chevy to a ferrari apples and oranges. Nothing better anywhere close to the price range.

Strength:

The Towers are really quite amazing. I agree with the past posts about breaking them in. They're very poppy and the tweaters are a little shreaking. After about 10 hours of listening, I started to hear them smooth out a bit. There is a nice full range sound coming from these. I disagree with the other reviews about the bass. There isn't floor shaking bass (like from a subwoofer) but the bass that is there is tight, clean and precise. I don't wish for anymore bass from these. I think too much bass distorts the natural sound of the recording (funny thing, I'm a bass player in a Jazz group). The center channel can be noticed as a little flat at times. During movies, the dialog comes through clear and rich, but they are out performed by the towers. The rear speakers are very similar to the center. They both share the same frequency response and drivers. These are very pretty speakers as well. They do have a vinyl covering on the pressboard but they look very nice at any distance. Besides the feel, you wouldn't know they were covered. They are also heavy. All of the speakers are very solid. The mains come with floor spikes which are great for stability alone.

Weakness:

I wish the center and rears had a bit more range. That would make this package perfect. The vinyl is also something I'd replace if possible, but that's why they're so affordable I guess (they ARE prettier than alot of big name speakers though). $50 shipping!

I've been wanting to upgrade my home theater setup for some time now. I had been reading up on affordable speakers systems and was pretty set on the Cambridge movieworks 108. After reading about the Fluance SX-HTB I started to get curious. I gave it a chance and they're better than I expected.

Strength:

Clear highs and mids, strong bass. Ridiculously awesome price.

Weakness:

Somewhat boomy bass - I recommend a sub.

I purchased these after checking out a number of more expensive, "mainstream" systems. Reading the raves on avsforums.com, I decided to take the plunge. I am definitely not disappointed. The packaging is sturdy. Very pretty speakers. What the other reviewers have said about the towers is correct; they are _awesome_. The centers and satellites hold up quite well, though. It's not that they're bad -- far from it -- they're just somewhat outclassed by the towers. The only noticable weakness is that the bass is somewhat boomy. The towers come with bi-wiring capability, though I haven't tried that yet; bi-wiring may cut down on that. Nevertheless, adding an old subwoofer I had remedied the problem easily.

Strength:

towers alone are worth the price of the entire system, very good imaging in stereo mode.

Weakness:

center, and surrounds sound tinny and hallow, due to their size i assume, but with $200 including shipping in upgrades this turns out to be a great system.

well, the towers in this setup are wonderful, deep bass, good mids and highs, ect... the center and surrounds however lack detail, and definition and are totally not up to par. then again, how much can you really expect from a $300 set of speakers, the towers alone are worth that. I would definately suggest going with the ac-sc center channel upgrade, and the fluance bipole surrounds, you'll be glad you did. The only thing this system is really missing is a sub, and since you're looking at fluance, you're probably on a budget in which case I would reccomend the sony wm-500 powered sub. Sure it looks horrid, but the sound is atleast decent.

Strength:

Excellent Sound Quality Nicely Built Very Attractive TOWERS themselves are worth the price Unbeatable Value!

Weakness:

I wish we could purchase these locally to avoid having to pay for shipping, but I suppose this is what makes the speakers priced as low as they are.

From start to finish, my experience with Fluance speakers has been nothing short of excellent. I ordered the speakers through OakvilleSound.com because they were cheaper than Fluance, and I'm glad I did because the service I received from Azeem was outstanding. The speakers arrived within 3 days via UPS, and they arrived without any damage because they are packaged so well (I'm certain you'll be as impressed as I was, or I wouldn't have commented on it!). Once I got everything wired up, I was very pleased with the cosmetics, and even more pleased with the sound. These really are the best speakers you can get for the money, I'm still shocked I paid under $250!

A real steal deal. Great workmanship. Solid build. powerful sound. Great customer service.

Weakness:

None so far

Best bang for the buck. A solid built HTB that sounds great with all kinds of music. When youmate this with a high end receiver, a sub and 12 gauge wiring and put in a DVD, it comes alive, no different to being in a theater. You're totally immersed. I've compared this it my JBLs, a friends Polk and Infinity and this just blows them away in sound and quality and at quarter of the price.

Strength:

Very clear Highs while keeping a solid full mid range and bass.

Weakness:

Haven't found any so far

I listened to and compared many speakers before deciding on Fluance. I was a little hesitant because there is no where to listen to them before buying. I was impressed with the recommendation of CNET and others, so I took the chance. I wasn't disappointed in the least. The others I was comparing were in the $1300 to $1800 price range. Since Fluance are only sold factory direct, the price is very reasonable and you aren’t paying for the middle man or show room. The Fluance speakers met or exceeded them all others I compared. Great, clear, crisp high range and full tone medium and bass. Just what I was looking for. I set up a 7.1 surround system with a Yamaha HTR-5890 driving 140 watts using the Fluance™ 5 Speaker Surround Sound Home Theater System SX-HTB and added two additional mid rear surrounds. The front tower speakers are Bi-Amp wired. This setup exceeded even my expectations. I would highly recommend these speakers to anyone wanting to set up a phenomenal home theater system.
