The Convergent Source Module (CSM), with its 3 poly-titanium woofer and 0.75 hyperbolic aluminum-dome tweeter, focuses sound for clearer dialogue and stirring music. i went around shopping for a moderately priced ht package. i had narrowedit down to the klipsch quintet and the take 5's. Initially i purchased the
klipsch. these were very good for movies. thier dynamic range is much much
superior to the energy's and the sound just fills the room, but they clearly
could not match energy for music. that finally made me switch to the energy's
ater a week.
So if you are HT fan, go with the klipsch quintet, you cannot go wrong. but
if you want the best compromise between HT and music you cannot go wrong with
the energy take 5's. They are best sounding speakers for music among the satellites.

Echoing what has already been said. I got the exact same deal as they guy who submitted a recent review - $730 delivered from Audioshop for the Take 5's w/10" subwoofer and 2 sets of stands. This is definitely the place to buy them. Great deals. Great service. Delivered in 2 days. I have them hooked up to a Denon AVR-1801, and these things sound great (room size 12'x 20'x 7' basement ceiling).

One piece of advice - I would use these with a receiver that has 5 channel stereo capability for music. The sound is much fuller when all 4 of the satellites are working. I know this feature is common on Denon, Onkyo.

You can't go wrong for the price. I never had a chance to audition the Klipsch quintets, so I don't know how they compare (any input from anybody?). However, I spoke to a guy on the west coast who sold both Energy and Klipsch. He told me the satellite speaker performance was comparable, but the Energy subwoofer would crush the Klipsch. He was selling the Energy setup for less $, so I suppose this was his honest assessment.

hi,
I am sorry to be including this in the review but want to know where I can purchase the Energy Take 5 speakers in dallas area ? I found one site online retailing the take 5 with xl-8 subwoofer for around 600$. I enquired and got a reply from Energy advising me to buy only from authorized dealers(haven't been able to located them in dallas so far).
What do u advise, is it safe buying speakers online ?
Also, could anyone tell me good home theater shops in Dallas/Richardson area ?

Thanks

Once again, guys with a name like Reemo, prove that Bose-only customers close their ears for the sake of loyalty, and don't know what a volume control is for. Energy Take 5's rock! Unbeatable for the money and size.

I can't even believe that someone would try to put these speakers in the same class as Bose. Bose speakers are cheaply made and do not provide the sound that these babies do. The Energy's are a great first system for those on a budget or with limited space. I wouldn't even pass off a set of Bose to my worst enemy. This set definitely gets the highest rating possible.

I think these are great speakers for the money. The main speakers are pleasing when listening to music. More musical than the Boston Acoustics 9000's I listened to at Good Guys. My only small complaint is with the center channel. I didn't find dialogue most pleasing when listening to them for home theater. However, you have to pay half again as much to get something better. I opted to pay 3 times as much and get the M&K 750 THX system, which is simply incredible. One caveat when listening to speakers... don't listen to speakers above your price range, because it's hard to be as satisfied with lesser speakers once you've heard better speakers! Energy Take 5 HT: sound 4, value 6, overall 5. M&K 750 THX system: sound 6, value 4, overall 5.

As a Canadian I will take any opportunity to raise the flag and toot our horn. I had purchased the Take 5 HT system from Enery after reviewing many columns including this one. I have to say that I am not disappointed, in fact after all the positive reviews I was still impressed with the sound these little suckers put out. Add the 8 inch sub and you have yourself a relatively low priced, but high end solution to your HT needs. Bang for the buck

I purchased the Take 5 system with the 10" subwoofer. The local dealer in Tampa wanted $950 for the set. I wound up purchasing them from a dealer in Ill. for $660 SHIPPED! I had been shopping speaker for about four months. I originally looked at the AM-10, but after listening to a Boston Acoustic HT system, I decided to shop further. Then I listened to the Take 5. They were similar to the Boston acoustics, but have a much more punchier bass due to having a more powerful amp.
Once getting these speakers and hooking them up, they sounded good.. Then, thanks to advice from others on this sites BB, replaced all my 16 guage speaker wire with 14 guage Monster Cable.... I would have never thought it would make such a difference, but WOW!!!!. These things went from good to GREAT!!
I have them hooked to a YamahaRX-V850 reciever.

One word would describe this package: AWESOME! I bought Take 5 and ES8 from Ray Adkins in California. At first I was doubtful about the performance of the sub, it's only 8 inches. (I have two tens in my car) But was I suprisingly pleased when I heard that fat, low bass coming from a small black cabinet. This sub rocks, literally! I love the finish on the satellites, looks much more expensive than it really is. As for sound, I don't think I have heard anything better in satellite package for less than $1000. Some people complain about the highs, but that's way I like it. I have these speakers paired with H/K AVR40, as my first home theater system. I think I got spoiled with this package...wonder how expensive the replacement may have to be to surpass the performance of what I have already. GREAT SOUNDING SPEAKERS!

I recently received the Take 5 System from Audioshop in Canada. The price? $630 US plus shipping for the Take 5 and 10 inch subwoofer. I am amazed at the clarity of these little speakers, and the depth of the bass from the subwoofer. I've been a fan of the rock group Chicago for years. After years of listening, I finally got to hear the saxophone consistently in their harmonies. Thanks, Energy! These speakers are definitely an improvement over my 20 year old Pioneer speakers (Pioneer was a good brand name back then). The Energy speakers are a little "bright," but I solved this problem by turnining back the treble control a little on my Yamaha RV 905 receiver. Great system for an affordable price.
