I bought these for 150 bucks back in 04. I still use these speakers expect for the sub, although the sub still works. I replaced it with a Klipch sub12.These speakers have done a great job of supplying the clarity i need for movies and music, never heard distortion from these ever. Only one problem with these is that one of my tweeters failed/blew out, had to replace with a different tweeter. other than that great value for this package. The 8 inch 100w sub it comes with is good for moderate volume only, it will distort when bass heavy movie scenes are playing wich i thought was freaking annoying. which lead for its replacement. All in all best bang your buck for sure.I wont be upgrading these speakers for awhile.

my system: onkyo 6.1 receiver,cerwin-vega avs center, mains, surrounds,Klipch sub12,monsterpower center HTS1000, All monstercable wires through out.SAMSUNG HDTV, Fios.

Strength:

Super good sounding set of HT speakers. I will gurantee you will not find a better set of HT speakers under $400.

Weakness:

The cabling that came with these speakers are cheap. It's better to replace them with 14 or 16AWG, and also get a decent subwoofer cable.

These speakers give you super good value for your money. You can find them available for much lower than its listed price of $399 (for as low as $149). The build quality of these speakers is very good. Don't let the "Made in China" label fool you. They look like a much more expensive set. The center and surround speakers are crystal clear and their frequency response is very good (100Hz - 20 kHz). The subwoofer goes down to 35Hz. The center and satellites provide a rich and detailed sound. I compared them with a lot of speakers in the $500 range and higher (including the Bose AM-6 series III). These speakers beat the Bose, hands down! The subwoofer is not bad either, not the best, mind you - but extremely good value for the price. It is quite tight and reasonably fast. The subwoofer stays on standby and requires a certain minimum volume to kick in. Depending on your preference, you can override this setting by setting the jumper in the sub's amp from "Auto" to "On". (You would need to unscrew the amp, but disconnect the power cord first!) In short, these speakers are stupid good value for their price. I couldn't be happier

Compared with Bose AM-6, Series III. These are actually better!
