Came to this site and am a little suprised. I purchased a set of bose am10.2 speakers to replace my high end M&k system MOSTLY because of size. I live in a small place open air and onthe ocean and with surf constantly in the backgroundI could not hear a GREAT deal of difference. Had the sub built into the wall midceling in the living room and the five cubes built in as well. For home theatre it works very well though I would recommend the additional outboard bose center speaker and use the A+B switch on your reciever for center and then set the balance. These DO NOT sound like the M&K system i took down (By the way if you have a dedicated room for a home theatre where space is not an issue I think M&K systems are unbeatable) but they are perfectly adaquate for movies in the living room and background music with company over. They are also both stealth beyond compare and do a wonderful job of dispersing sound throughout the room and impart an openess or sense of spaciousness expanding the size of the listening space. Yes, they lack some high end treble and deep bottom but offer a presence that is missing in many speakers and DO NOT sound boxy. Their placement in the room seems to be less critical. I have a Yamaha 995 reciever, dvd and yamaha 5 disc CD changer. I have not found my M&K 100 watt dual driver sub nesscary with the bose sub BUILT IN so the port is flush with the wall (midwall) at the ceiling. Listen with your own ears, if you can't hear the difference dont pay for it. I am quite happy with the am10.2's but knew ahead what i was getting and sacrificing. One last comment, I do not grow tired of these speakers when used as i described. If i spent all day focused on listening I would have left my M&K's up.
