Weakness:

Bass reproduction is muffled.

I purchased this pair from Hometicket.com for $269. For the money, it is quite a steal. However, these speakers do not reproduce real deep bass even with the 12" woofers. The nominal impedance is 6 ohms and will not work with many receivers. The treble and midrange sound adequate. The back of the speakers are fully laminated and equipped with 5-way binding posts. I would recommend the AR-P428PS from JandR.com for $398(pair)if you are looking for some nice speakers but are financially restrained.

Strength:

Nice broad soundstage due to side firing woofers, great value for the price, solid construction

Weakness:

Not as much bass as I expected, bass is very loose

An outstanding value for the $155 that I paid and I really have no major complaints. Overall, the sound quality is excellent and these speakers faithfully reporduce a wide variety of music. The sound is nice and broad thanks to the two midsand the side firing woofers. I was pleaseantly surprised by the highs. Given Yamaha's reputation for a bright sound, I was cocncerned that these speakers might tend too much toward the high end - not so, they have a nice balance.

I was a little disappointed in the bass. Just like many other reviewers, I expected more powerful bass from 12" woofers. In addition, the base gets a little muddy when the speakers are processing a lot of low end sound. This is due in part to the bass reflex design and also in part to the fact that my living room (ceramic tile floor) is very unforgiving.

Overall, I highly reccomend these speakers if you can get them for under $225. once you get above that price range, you may be able to do better with something else.

Strength:

some bass,great sound

Weakness:

none so far

ive only had these for a couple of days and i definatly think their worth the money. these speakers do have bass but not a lot. this is only probably because i'm only putting 30 watts into them (i'm getting a new receiver soon). i'm sure they would sound much better with more watts. these are great for movies and music. for the $155 i paid for them i think they are great speakers. buy these now!

Strength:

I dont know if you other guys are giving these speakers enough watts.I'm giving 100 watts rms each and these speakers rock. All of you say theres not enough bass. You must be kidding.I cant even turn them all the way up cause the bass is so loud.Belive me i know.I have 2 10" subwoofers in my car and the bass is freaking loud. The yamahas are almost just as loud. And about the weight, their suppose to be heavy.Their tower speakers. My last set of speakers were kenwood 12"s and they cant even touch these bad boys. The only thing wrong with them is the speaker covers break easly.

Weakness:

speaker cover/cloth is weak

Overall i dont think i would give up these speakers even if sombody offered me twice of what i paid..........They are discontinued.
