Strength:

-Crisp not harsh, highs. -Great Detail. -Very blended sound. -Good bass extension. -Bi-wireable (I don't use this) -Beautiful black piano finish

Weakness:

-Full time maid required to keep dust and finger prints off. -a little heavy (if thats even a weakness) -waveguide horn requires good placement -Low WAF (wife acceptance factor)? (not sure maybe) -might be hard to find other than online -nothing else at this price!!

I originally heard these speakers at BB and was impressed. However I had the Athena AS-F2's (also very good). I then lost some of my equipment including my AS-F2's in a car accident! So I started looking at speakers again. Don't be blinded by Bose, any serious speaker enthusiast will tell you that. I listened to many speakers again, including B&W's and Athena, and seriously considered Axiom for a while. I have a Friend who got the NS-777's for a pretty good deal online so I checked them out and they sounded great, again! So I jumped the gun and got a great deal online, with money left over to get the NS-555 for my rears! I have not regretted it! These speakers are awesome! I have them hooked up to my Pioneer Elite VSX-39TX, The detail and clarity is amazing! any kind of music I throw at it sounds absolutely amazing! The mid range is much better than my AS-F2's so I’m hearing things I've never heard before on my old CD's! For movies I don't have a subwoofer (yet) so my bass is routed to the main NS-777's and they haven't let me down yet! My AS-F2's might have extended a little lower but these make up in every other way! I watched Star Wars Episode I the other day and could feel the bass shake my chair during the pod races! Did I mention they look great with the black piano finish?

Strength:

Treble sounded clear. cheap price...but there was a reason.

Weakness:

Where's Bass? they have 2 woofers but I don't hear them much... alsoOutput seemed weak despite the 250watt they boast.

I decided to try these speakers after reading rave reviews here as well as from Best Buy salesmen. I was hoping to replace my Bose 701 speakers with these (after listening to those Bose Bashing threads I wanted to see if I was truly missing something). Well I understand that Yamaha's known for instruments and AV receivers but not for speakers...and now I know why. These heavy monsters weighed nearly 120 pounds and I was sorry I dragged them into my living room when I first heard their sound. Although they boast 3 way sound, these things hardly had any bass...and Best buy said their bass will blow Bose away..they were dead wrong. I have to admit their highs were more clear than Bose's but their overall their sound was not even close to the rich range Bose produced. While I can see that comparing unknown yamaha speakers to much more expensive Bose speakers may be a little unfair I was expecting a lot more from these speakers.

Strength:

Great range, good value, awesome appearance, biwireable

Weakness:

upfront, restrained bass(could be good or bad depending on your preferences)

Receiver used:Yamaha HTR-5590 Cables:THX Certified Monster As I have stated in my previous reviews I am an audio salesperson who gets to test and play with the toys we sell using many different combinations so that I can give accurate long term auditions. These speakers are most certainly an excellent value. Their piano finish appearance is bold and stylish but may be too bold for some. At any rate they certainly don't look like anything else on the market. The NS-777s are a 3-way speaker with dual 8-inch drivers, and include biwiring capabilities. They have great clarity and power but do not have quite the rich, full-bodied sound that some similarly priced speakers have. They have tight response with good full range sound but are a tad too flat and upfront. They have clean but somewhat restrained bass, this is a feature some people will enjoy very much while others will find disappointing. The highs are not to bright and have excellent range reaching up to 35KHz, but are a little on the metallic side. Overall these are excellent speakers particularly for those who enjoy classical, jazz, and other music that has a lot of midbass but don't want pounding rap-like bass.

Strength:

Warm, crisp sound; nice finish

Weakness:

None so far.

We saw the NS-777s at Best Buy and were impressed with both the sound and the piano finish look. After listenning to the speakers for a few days, we decided to bring them home. Coupled with the NS-C333 center speaker and a SVS sub, HT experience has taken on a new meaning. These speakers are a great value at this price and sound awesome for music and movies. Highly recommend these if you have the room.

Strength:

Beautiful Piano Finish Cabinet, Solid Construction. Crisp Highs, Smooth Mids, Clean Lows They can handle all the power you can throw at them whether is Movies or Music!!

Weakness:

None that I have found yet, whether its Movies or Music These things Rock!!!

This is my 1st review so you take it with a grain of salt. I Heard these speakers in june at a local Best Buy and I was very impressed with them (even with the best buy Crap Receiver and Angel Hair Wiring). As i continued to listen to them i grew more and more suprised by the crisp highs, detailed mids, and solid lows. They reminded me of the Yamaha High End HX series and not of the previous Yamaha Low ends series. So a month later I called checking prices well somebody made a mistake and only charged me 299.99 Shipped for the Pair. Needless to say i bought them, and started my home theatre. My 2 friends and myself got everything together (Onkyo TX-SR600, Panasonic DVD35S, The NS-777's and NS-C333Center channel, and my old crappy Aiwa Bookshelfs as rears <---Im poor). Both of my friends were former Circuity City employees and I would consider them fairly knowledgable. We fired everything up and popped in Star Wars Episode 2 and all of jaws hit the floor. I couldnt believe how clean and smooth the sound was. The 2 PMD 8's threw out some room filling base while the Mid and Tweet sang loud and smooth. Spencer looked at me and said "Thats the best $300 Anyone has ever spend on speakers" Comming from him thats a compliment cause he is into HIGH end stuff like (Energy, paradigm, B&W, etc). Well its now a month later and they are broken in and I also added the Polk PWS350 to really add some SERIOUS low end. I can honestly say these speakers are fantastic, The Piano Finish is elegant, and the PMD woofers look bueatiful. If you dont believe the review I would suggest listening to them in person, you wont be disappointed.
