Strength:

Big sound, Excellent highs and Lows.

Great price for a speaker that with great sonics! If you expect high end sound then pay high end prices. If you want a excellent performer that does justice to HT (fronts) and music at a affordable price then this is it. My neighbor is a audio nut and was truely impressed by the 400's performance. This speaker gets pretty decent ratings here and now I am a believer too! Turn em' up and they go. They really project audio. Yes they can be had (now) at a bargain and will exceed your expectations!

Strength:

Real Tight Bass, Outstanding highs

Weakness:

Lacks Midrange power

This speaker is great for the money. It is true that it lacks midrange but is compensated by a power punch bass and a tremendous tweeter. The beautiful thing about this speaker is that it matches perfectly with my bose 802 professional speaker. I combined the sound of 1 of my 400 valdus speakers and my 802 and I can't stop listening to them. They are especially awesome when playing party musics, hip-hops, etc. The clarity of sound coming from 802 is phenomenal but the strength of this type of speaker is purely midrange. So, by pairing it with my valdus 400, I get the highs and base that the 802 is lacking, hence; I listen to perfect music. I power my speakers with a Harman/Kardon AVR75 receiver (Another outstanding piece of electronic equipment)and so you can just imagine the sound you can hear. To get the results desired, you really need to crank up the volume on your receiver. When ever I listen to party musics, the family feels like we are inside a club with all the thumpin sound we hear. My kids, and even my parents actually enjoy the sound even though the volume is cranked way up. The higher the volume, the better the sound comes out. I can't explain how great the sound is. You can hear the vocals clearly, and the instruments just simply stand out(Guitar, Drums, piano) the bass especially feels like it is penetrating through your chest, and I am just astounded as to how the 400 can actually keep up with the Bose 802. If you have what I have, I suggest you put them together and listen for yourself.

Strength:

Brilliant tweeter, Tight Base. Very good drivers

Weakness:

Crappy grill, impossible to remove easily (same for all of the valdus range) looks cheap, but looks are deceaving

good for both Home Theater and Music, nice imaging, good overall sound, still need a subs with a crossover set at about 50hz, because they distort at very low frequencies (only when u really pump it, and i mean pump it!)

I havent heard better in the price range.

If ur serious buy a sub or build your own.

Strength:

For their size, these speakers deliver excellent frequency response. When combined with a good home theater receiver, a descent center channel and a pair of surrounds, you will be amazed!

Weakness:

Plastic front port gives the appearence of a cheaper speaker.

These are the best floor standing speakers for the price that I have ever heard.

Strength:

Excellent three way speaker that holds it's own when you put the pedal to the "metal"

Weakness:

At $190 are you NUTS

What a steal! These babies rock! They punch hard low. They sing way out high. They maintain great mid's. Gambled on these speakers and won...won what ???. When they arrived I qucikly unpacked them wired them up and they have sounded better everyday. As posted before if kmart has these speakers at that price the blue light would running 100 mph.
These speakers look and sound better then speakers 4x the price. I AM VERY HAPPY

I have heard the Speakers on A shop, so I had the option to compare about 38 differnt speakers. I have compared the Valdus-400 And Valdus-500 and the difference is hugh if not "ear dropping" meaning not even close to the 400. Also I have heard One of AR Speakers and it was very close to the 400 but the price was double. I listened to clasical music for better diagnostic and it sure made the difference the sound was worm and clear (not cutting angles) from the 400 and the AR and very metalic from the 500. Needless to say that my check was on the same conditions including Yamaha CD/DVD player and Reciever. My vote for 5 stars is for excelence in sound and price. I'm sorry that i didn't write all the details about the Cd and Recv. I'll add them tommorew for your review.
Good luck to all seeker of music and would appreciate comments to my email about other companents like CD/DVD, surround and central speakers and Reciever with the Valdus-400 which i'm going to buy

Thank you all and for this site.

I just picked up a pair of these gems for about $100 a piece at ubid.com.... damn what a deal! They sound fantastic! It has great sounding highs and good mids and bass. I hooked them up with my Sony STR-925 receiver and Harman Kardon FL-8300 CD player and well... sweeeet. Oooh snacky cakes? get down... (Cartman) They blew my old Yamaha POS's out of the water big time, the Yamahas are now stuck pulling surround speaker duty. The Valdus' can also get VERY loud.(much to the disgust of my neighbors) I can't put the volume up past "3" without having to grab my remote and go to a different room... buah ha ha. Well, it looks like those English people did something right with these. Anyone know any good sites for powered subwoofers? My friend asked me the other day... "hey Adam, there's a Velodyne 500 watt 15 inch subwoofer on sale for $100, would you get 'em?" ummmm..... yaaahhhh!

Recently purchased a pair of these and hooked them up with my Onkyo 656 + Onkyo DV-S717. Great sound - Very 'big' and rich.
A suggestion which I found made a heap of difference was to buy decent speaker cable. These speakers have a lot of energy to burn.

NO BETTER VALUE IN MY OPINION

I bought these pair of speakers at Ubid for just over $200.00 and I crossed my fingers hoping these speakers were as good as described here at the reviews. I thought I was making a big mistake by taking a chance on a UK product when clearly U.S. speakers are the best speakers. Well, the speakers turned out to be incredible for their value. I can't stop listening to my compact discs, I also can't stop watching movies. I use a HK AVR-75 to power these speakers which also happens to be a beautiful receiver. True, not much of a soundstage but these speakers are as good as other name brand speakers in the U.S., maybe even better when it comes to value. Go get them at Ubid, you won't regret it.

I too purchased these speakers for a little over $200 at Ubid. I was pretty nervous because I never had a chance to listen to them and based my decision just on these reviews. Needless to say, I don't regret purchasing them at all. They sound great and the bass is tight and quite responsive for their size. For the money they can't be beat. If anyone's looking to put together a budget system, check out ubid.com to see if you can pick up a pair of these great speakers.
