I bought those speakers from craigslist and they sound decent! They are not the greatest but they are not and the worse. Good speakers with some bass and good highs. They got some power but not much for my amplifier Kenwood! With 2 words good 2 way speakers.

Strength:

my mom said "turn it down"

Weakness:

i bought a warranty for them and didn't need it

i bought these speakers in late 1999 / early 2000. i'm not an audiophile by any means, so don't get my review wrong here. what i heard was fine. the bass was low enough, the treble was high enough. i mean, what do you expect for about a hundred bucks? not much, i'd assume, so i'll leave it at that. but what i liked is that when i hooked them up, i didn't think "these speakers are crap." i thought, "these sound great." (the first CD i listened to, by the way, was Faith No More's "Album of the Year".) so try and listen to them before you buy. of course, by now you'd be buying used ("now" is 06/22/03). i don't think you'd be paying much more than $60/pr, so just go for it if you like the way it sounds. after all, for $60 or less, you could put them in your dog's luxury doghouse and not even blink twice. who cares. i don't.

Strength:

cheap. not too bad of sound quality, but well worth the 8 years I got out of them.

I've had them for 7 or 8 years, so I got plenty of use out of them. the sound quality isn't too bad. I'm happy with them. I have surround sound, a high quality pioneer sx-838 reciever, and a 10-band dual eq, so all that helps the sound of them. my technics speakers are 140 watts each. the manual for my vintage pioneer sx-838 says it's 50 watts. sometime in the past few months, I blew out the woofer in the one speaker. pioneer made some great stereo's back in the 70's and 80's. I have a 1000 watt sub in a cerwin-vega box, with a 400 watt kenwood car amp on a 1200 watt home made power supply, all sitting right next to that speaker, so I don't even knotice the difference.

Strength:

Nice for the price, BIG(boomy) bass, great for first system

Weakness:

not very good mid-treble range. sometimes bass can be TOO big

These were my first pair of OK speakers. And HA, I got them $60 a pair new.
Well, now the review.
For those folks who like bass, these are for you, I have never heard such bass from 10's(except subs), although voices and treble are not very clear, thanks to the godawful cone tweeter. at times the bass can be too boomy and annoying but that's why you have tone controls.
I got rid of these about 6 months ago, so I can't go into a more detailed review.Value, for what I paid 6 stars overall, 4 coz you could do a bit better with the clarity for a little more money

Weakness:

anyone who thinks these speakers sound good should be shot in the face. these sound bad even to deaf person

don't buy these speakers if you respect yourself or anyone else who would come into your house to listen to them. if you cant afford anything else, you don't deserve to listen to music.

sound

these speakers arent that great. i would not reccomend them. i blew one of the tweeters, and the woofers are quite pathetic. there is NO midrange. what do you expect? there is a big farking 10" woofer and a dinky tinny tweeter!!

BARF!!!!

they look nice though!

the speakers really though, are very chincy. i took them apart to see them, the magnet on the woofer must have only been 10 oz.! very cheap and chincy.

I thought the Boss Acoustimass speakers I had were good, but these blew me away. I borrowed them from a friend and I am not giving them back.

Strength:

Good overal sound, everything is clean and clear, good price too!

Weakness:

Big speakers, hard to lug around, but no complaints other than that. Bass gets muddy at high levels, doesnt handle alot of power without sounding bad.

I got these speakers and i hooked them up to an old pioneer receiver and these speakers blew me away. I have them hooked up to an EQ and you can get a 8db boost at 60hz and it sounds amazing. The other frequecies sound just as good too. If these speakers werent so big then u wouldnt even know they were there, they sound realistic. I got them for 90 bucks used, a great price for a pair of speakers that sound like this. One complaint is that you cant get a 12db boost at 60hz without it sounding too thumpy and muddy, even with the 10' woofer. Another complaint is that one of the woofers blew out on me about a couple months after using it, but i think thats cuz it was used anyway. And the tweeter can get harsh sometimes if you play it loud, which isnt good. But other than that i have no complaints and i would reccomend these speakers to anyone that likes good, full sound.
