I like the Yamaha NS-10M's better than these and they are a lot cheaper...wich is the bottom line for me these days! Times are getting tough! Seriously though, these are some of the best monitors I have tried recently in my home studio. Other contenders: Mackie Actives,FAR Actives, Totem Model 1's and a few others I'd like to forget! I am really jealous of my friend who eventually purchased them. I am stuck with my budget REVEALS for now!

Strength:

Good build quality;Easy on the ears

Weakness:

Lacking the "presence" of the better hi-fi speakers. bass isn't the greatest.

I've had these speakers for about 1.5 years now. Since I purchased them , I've upgraded my power amp and my pre-amp.
Ironically , Iv'e been using my Grado Sr-125 headphones a lot more than my speakers! Room acoustics and an apartment setting do not help. I've played around with room postioning for months looking for the "best" balance. It's been very frustrating! Maybe these speakers were just intended as a tool for mixing...Whatever the reason , they do not hold my attention for long even though they are accurate etc. Maybe it's time to check out some regular "hi-fi" speakers again or even better heaphones!

The first mix I ran through these pretty much amazed me. I have a set of Tannoy PBM 6.5 II monitors I have been using for a couple of years. (also really good) But the system 800's really have killer stereo seperation. You really can move around and still get excellent response. Handy due to my mixer location. I also lucked out with speaker placement on the first try. I tried messing with eq settings but they really do the best job run flat. They can also be wickedly loud. Too loud for nearfield monitoring so watch your volume levels and enjoy. The extra volume is handy for filling the room for customer auditioning. I would highly recomend them!

Strength:

clean sound

Weakness:

design ?! ;-)

Great product from Tannoy!
First used them in combination with C-Audio RA501 and Mackie SR32, Now thinking of using it with Rotel pre-amp and the C-Audio.
Straightforward, clear sound, just what u could expect from pro-audio stuff.
