Strength:

balanced frequencies reponse both for HiFi and AV/HT

Weakness:

Tweeter seemed have drop off at high end frequencies in SPL used with its crossover design in order to match the mid range response. Thus some people may find it not "sweet enough", but this attempt is the best setting up for both HiFi and HT : exciting wih minimum (acceptable) harsh sound.

Value for money!

I bought a pair of M4 following reviews from this page. From this day I can't stop listening different kind of music.
Definition is amazing, bass well handed, trebble not very high, brillant Tannoy.

Strength:

Tight bass

Weakness:

none so far

I had never felt my but shaking while watching a movie. They sound great for dance/trance and for rock music. Such a quality for such low costs. Great.

Strength:

Warm sound, but clear midrange, tight and clean bass for acoustic instruments, and crisp enough treble

Weakness:

Cheap looking grill and emblem, and screw-type cable connection (which is a problem for thick Monster-type cable)

I auditioned the Tannoy and the Yamaha in the store using a Yamaha amplifier in a stereo mode (no effect) and I like the Tannoy better. The Steely Dan "Gaucho" album, which I used to use to judge a stereo system, could not help much, but the vocal, guitar and violin in Guinga "Suite Leopoldina" album sounds distinctively loud and clear without being harsh out of the Tannoy, while with the NS-300 they sound nasal.
Now that I bought the Denon AVR 2800 receiver, those Tannoys sound better with 5-channel stereo in my apartment. Without any subwoofer, they somewhat lack low bass sound on some CDs, but I can listen better to the beauty of acoustic bass.
I could also hear for the first time a couple of seconds of Joe Henderson's noteless blow in his "Double Rainbow" CD, and more Jimmy Cobb's brush work in Miles Davis "Kind Of Blue".
I am going to collect more acoustic music CDs, especially jazz and Brazilian music.
