Strength:

guitar and vocals

Weakness:

bass isn't clear, symphonies tend to sound unclear

I'm using these speakers with a Musical Fidelity X A1 amplifier, Denon DCD 1290 cdplayer, Musical Fidelity X 24K DAC, TaraLabs55 and digital interconnects.
They sounded great to me when I first started with the audiophile business. But now, 1.5 years later, my music taste changed from guitars and vocals (Eric Clapton and the like) to classical music . And classical music isn't the strongest side of this speaker.
Nonetheless they still please me when I'm listening to Clapton, Rolling Stones and Dire Straits.
I can recommend these speakers to any starting audio enthousiast that isn't preferring classical music.

I got the M3 and alone with M1 and MC to complete HT system with Tannoy Mercury range for about one week now. I would say, M3 sounds like a good bottle of wine, it just age beautifully. However, it's not impressive straight out of boxes, it has really improved and matured.
The sound presentation is warm and musical. Bass was loss at the beginning but more in control after few days, however, the bass is lay back, bolt and can be boomy depending on type of music was playing. Vocal is nicely presented but not brilliantly detailed, I like M3 better with female vocals, but honestly speaking, there are better speakers to bring out the vocal transparency and priced much higher as well. With instruments, Tannoy is the most capable of bring out the image so realisticly. The sound stage is with depth and width, giving me a much larger hall fell in my 15x20 living room.

For HT, M3/M1/MC are fine and capable, it gives out the entertainment expected and I would enjoy spending the weekend watching AirForce1 or 007 with family. However, I don't think the M3 will create the earthquake without adding a good subwoofer to boost the bass. However, it's my subjectivness to loudness, I personally prefer subtlty and adequacy than blunt overpower.

I paid SGD450 (USD270) for the M3 or SGD900 for the entire M3,M1, and MC set up.
I cannot be happier when the Mercury driven with Sony STR-DE925 (110Wx5).

The M3 is a good speaker and its sound can be friend with for years that
your won't feel bored of but just getting better.
Although not brilliant for audiophile, but it's the "real" value for money
get it a 5 stars.

The Tannoy Mercury are something, I feel comfortable to have kids at home fooling around with them. For pure audiophil quality of music listening, I am aiming at other speakers which easily cost thousands more, but I would have to lock them in a special room away from the adventurous teens.
