Strength:

Very cheap, yet for price has very good, clear sound.

Weakness:

Low efficiency...a bit bright...only sounds good at high volumes

I really was pleasantly surprised by the sound, considering the low cost. It's very crisp, well-defined, and detailed. The bass is quite adequate for this size. The speaker can get very loud without losing sound quality. From what I can tell, what this is good-quality drivers in a rather cheap enclosure.

There are only a few drawbacks. One is the low efficiency of the speakers (88 db), meaning it takes a lot of power to get volume. No problem for my 100w amp, but I wouldnt recommend less than 50 watts.
Also the tweeter gets scratchy every so often, and really takes offense to bad-quality recordings.
The excellent sound quality doesnt kick in except at higher volumes- the sound is rather dead at low volumes. But all around this is probably the best speaker you could get for this price.

I am using a 70's vintage Pioneer SX-1010 receiver; this may somewhat bias things in the speaker's favor; a cheaper, less powerful receiver might not bring out such nice sound.

Strength:

there are many the price for one. the size three way speakers and can handle surround better than frontal base sounds.

Weakness:

trying to find stands to put these things on.

after looking over the reviews of this product I still wasen't convinced there are many confused reviewers writing in for this product. For one thing of coarse sony isn't going to be as good as nht cmon be realistic nht's are 500.00 or more dollars. And if you have a receiver under 70 wpc you wont be able to drive these things well. I subscribe to home theatre magazine and these were named the second best speaker in there price range the first being the new bic 64clr's. Also they were on consumer reports top 5 list for bookshelf speakers. I purchased these speakers because the experts told me they were good and they were right.
I have them hooked up as my rear speakers and they sound terrific matched up with my pioneer elite 37tx. of coarse I also have monster xp thx certified speaker wire hooking them up which makes the sound significally better. so my word of advice is to try them as rear speakers instead of mains you will be amazed by the three way sound behind you.

Strength:

Bass, Power, looks, tweeter can get high, nice size

Weakness:

Midrange can lack sometimes, the grille is very ugly, keep it off, the speaker looks better without it. clip connectors are small. No bass port

i bought these to replace my JBL500 after i blew the tweeters out (little 2-way 50watts, normaly $40 at best buy, i got open box for $20) well, these are normaly $90, i wanted to get nice mains for my HT, i didn't really care about bass, because i have a nice sub. well these were there, and the origanal tape that held the box closed was coming off and ripped, there was the best buy tape on it. they took $30 off it for that, they the $20 from my JBL's i brought back, brought the price down to $40 out of my pocket, the JBL500's were nice, but only 50watts, and they cant take much power (100wpc JVC digital/dts)well, i heard sony speakers arent good, i would never be able to say that by listening to these, only problem is, the midrange is weak, but i just got them today, i have to give them time to break in. i am sure they will get better (all speakers do)i really like them, for $60 i cant complane, they can take 140 watts peak. i would think with a bass port i would get more bass, but it is acustic tuned or somthing like that, the bass is very responsive, i was suprised (7" woofer) overall, these are nice mains, and with a sub, they are even better, if you can get them for under $100 and need nice speakers and bass)then pick thses up.

Weakness:

NO BASS

these dont woof like my supertwo's by NHT:) these speakers just dont rock the party they tend to have no bass hole, so basically when you are on the phone you cant put the phone in the bass hole. the worst thing is it's 50Hz SUPERTWO's go down to 35Hz these dont rock the party when you see a tall cottonwood out your bedroom window;)

GET SUPERTWO's by NHT >:o
