Yee Fung,
I'm not really sure what your problem is. I thought I told you to rationalize before you talk. The NHT 2.9's are CHEAPER than the Sony's, thus the Sony's compete with the NHT 3.3. If you are shopping in this price range, you want to compare speakers equal in price. Too bad you have no idea what you're talking about. I never claimed to own NHT 3.3's. I hope you don't destroy anymore pages with your trash. These speakers are good, but not good for the money. And remember Yee, you idiot, that's only MY opinion. You're entitled to your own.

Note that Sony does not manufacture these speakers. In fact, they did not even design them. The old axiom holds true, "there is no reason an electronics manufacturer should be making speakers". It seems strange that with all of the high-end electronics out there from Asia,Europe, and North America, no one had done both successfully. Harmon Kardon came close, Carver tried, forget about Panasonic, Pioneer, Sony, Yamaha etc. Anyway, Sony commissioned someone else to design these speakers and Sony merely slapped their lable on it. Sony is trying to gain respect in the hi-end medium. I saw these at a dealer in Toledo. They are large and unconventionally shaped. I only heard these briefly and in not the best of settings; my initial unsubstantiated response is I have heard better, especially for the price range.

I purchased these speakers after selling my Legacy Focus. The SONY'S are one great speaker (The FOCUS is totally awesome, but they were too big for my home).I have owned them since 6/96. After break in, they can really sing. The bass is not quite up to that of a FOCUS of course, but it is great coming from 2 8" drivers. I run them bi-wired with Classe Audio DR-9 Amps bridged balanced mono. I have been an audiophile for over 25 years and seen, owned and heard a lot of audio equipment. Don't base your listening or judgement on SONY's other audio equipment. I even like the unusual cabinet design after living with so many tall rectangular boxes. These are great speakers. They are discounted heavily, so all things considered, for the money they are a great buy. They are worth hunting down and giving them a serious listen with an audioplhie front end--not a receiver (the owners manual tells the owner NOT to use any receiver with them) I have been happly living with them.
