Strength:

Perfect for watching movies on DVD or sports on ESPN. Produces a theater environment at low cost.

Weakness:

Like all sattelite systems- not perfect for music.

Theater performance in the comfort of your home. Its been 10 days since I got the package. I have the speakers hooked up to a relativly cheap Dolby Digital receiver in a mid-sized bedroom. The speakers' performance exceeds my expectations. I was really satisfied with the sound effects produced when watching Black Hawk Down. The sattelites provided a real theater ambiance. I have no complaints about the sub too- it gives me the bass I need to enjoy movies and its cool for music as well( although it may be abit slow with fast techno music). Overall: all you need for watching movies or TV. If youre a music audiophile you may want to hook up a pair of large front speakers to get the true full range sound that sattelites alone simply cannot provide.

Price and Quality

Weakness:

Subwoofer

I picked these up for about $319+S&H at www.supremevideo.com and let me tell you they are worth every penny for an entry level system. I have them hooked to a Pioneer VSX 608 and a Pioneer DVD player with Monster Cable XP all around and they sound great. They only weakness is the sub it does not handle high volumes at all!! So I replaced it with a Aucustic Research AR-S500 and that thing thumps. So if you are looking for a sub+sat system for a small room get this one and just replace the sub it is worth it.

Strength:

For the price, it's a very good all in 1 speaker pack.

Weakness:

Considering this is the first home theatre speaker system I've listened to...it's pretty bad ass...no weaknesses.

These speakers are very good for the price. I have them hooked up to a JVC 888VBK reciever and they sound awesome. For only 100w, I was surprised the sub could put out some really good rumble in movies. Playstation especially rocks with these speakers (even if only in stereo). If you just want a solid pair of speakers for the dvd or game setup, get these, they are worth every penny.

quality of sound.

Well, I was able to pick these speakers for a mere $299 free shipping and no tax.
For the price of a 5.1 system I guess it was an OK deal. But to be honest I was disappointed with the quality of the sound. Though this is my first system, I must say I have heard much better. I guess I canft complain for the price. If you are on an absolute budget and are dying to have a surround system, this might be for you. But if you can afford it, try to go for the 705fs or better system. I might not recommend these to a friend.

Strength:

Price ( $260 if you know a Sony Employee) Good sound for money.

Weakness:

Sub don't handle high volumes well

Overall I am satisfied. They work good at low to mid volumes, perfect for apartments. Don't expect much from music though. I bought separate speakers for music (Polk RT-2000). I use a 555 ES reciever and the 7700 DVD player with these speakers. If you are looking for a bargin, these are for you. If money is not your first concern then go with Sony's SS-DD 100 or go to a different brand. I plan on replacing mine with Polks.

Strength:

Small, great sound, cheap, good looking

Weakness:

none

I did not think so small speakers could sound so great. I've read other reviews and some people complain about the subwoofer, I can not understand why. The subwoofer delivers to much bass sometimes so I have to turn it down. Perhaps people want earthquakes at home, I do not.
My girlfriend is really happy with the size, the speakers are very discreet and you can put it on a shelf without taking up too much space.

Strength:

Excellent performance from satellites

Weakness:

Subwoofer may not be so perfect (especially for the fact that it is rated 100W (in reality it's about 80W)).

Not bad. Satellites give an awesome, excellent performance. Subwoofer is not too cool, however it serves it purpose magnificently when playing DVD's. Also, Sony were genius at the idea of putting a line out socket in order that one may connect another subwoofer from it. If you want good bass from music you must keep the mode in Movie, not Music

Subwoofer does not squeek at high volumes, it just needs to have its level regulated with the amount of volume it is receiving (if receiver is high, you must obviously keep it low).

On the whole it is good for small - moderate sized rooms

P.S. I didn't buy the system in dollars therefore price is very rough (average)

Strength:

Good price from Inet.com ($192 if I remember correctly). Small size a welcome replacement of large bulky speakers.

Weakness:

None so far.

Great system for an apartment dweller. Would have opted for a better system if I didn't have to neighbors to contend with. As has been stated before, Sony isn't known for its speakers, but I really like this system and one day when the neighbors are all away I hope to see what they sound like at a higher volume. Have them hooked to a Sony STR-DE935 and Sony CVP-550D DVD playing on a Mitsubishi 27" TV. Recently purchased WS-FV10 speaker stands. These are almost imposible to find. If you looking let me know.
