Strength:

mid & hi are great. with characters that other speakers cannot offer. the bass in fact is good & enough (even a subwoofer is not necessary) for a reasonably sized room. the look is gorgeous. (but again its really subjective)

Weakness:

this classy look or i will say its "classical" look can only be played with some kind of classical music & jazz (cannot go further than downtempo or alikes) but not dance, techno or alikes. its not about the capability its bacause "dance & heavy beats never come out from violin"!

i will cut all my review in technical aspects because its all been listed below.

one word to sum up all my feelings: IT SINGS. WITH TRUE EMOTIONS. technical datas & specs are for your discussions only but the most important things the speakers can offer you & the music itself are feelings & emotions being released. its look deserves these.

and i love the solid walnut.

Strength:

Very musical; good soudstage

Weakness:

Tonal balance is slightly "dark"; Needs a very high power amp in order to sound dynamic.

I liked the Signum somewhat better than the Concerto, but vocals were not reproduced as naturally as with the Dynaudio Contour 1.3SE. The mid-range was very detailed on the Signum, but the highs were less detailed and slightly recessed in comparison to the 1.3SE. Some may find this pleasing as it tends to smooth out some harshness recorded on some CDs.

I liked both Sonus Fabers better than the B&W Nautilus 805 which I thought had a more colored midrange and poorer bass.

Overall the Sonus Faber Signum is a good speaker at a good price for what you get.

Strength:

musical, pace, good looks

Weakness:

slight loss of low frequencies, but good bass for cabinet size

these babies replaced a pair of mission floorstanders and on the sonus faber stands the improvement was so good even my wife commented. the pace and timing is spot on and they look a million bucks! but they do sound as good as they look, they are driven at the moment by 100w avi monoblocks and seem to be able to take as much power as i can throw at them. i have to argue with comments about there suitability to "get dirty" they cope with the supersuckers admirably.
if your looking for small speakers with a big sound, check them out

Expensive mini-monitor ... but sound quality is excellent in small rooms, and with powerful amplifiers (100 watts up) ...
Detail is it's strongest point, as well as soundstage layering, and speed. In a small room, and about half a meter from the wall, bass is tight, agile, and sufficient (it's measured response is 40 Hz) ...

This is a fabulously clean-sounding speaker, with no trace of boxiness whatsoever. It reminds me of the Dynaudio Contour 1.1 and 1.3, except that the signum sound is obviously in a higher league. I actually preferred it over the Wilson Benesch Act One !

One caveat is that the price of this transparency necessitates careful matching. No big rooms, and no bright ancilliaries.

These speakers have just been reviewed as well in HiFi News & Record Review by Martin Colloms, June issue I think.

Sonus Faber has again achieved a new level of sound quality. The new Sonus Faber Signum proves in every way to be a high end speaker that breaks with the "fact" that only big speakers can sound well.
The precision of the different instruments is outstanding. It completely lacks the sound of a small speaker. Several times friends asked me where they could find the sub-woofer.

The sound is transparent (maybe also because the're connected to the amplifier by Transparent cable), the bass is impressive and mid and high really come loose from the speaker.

The speaker sounds best in combination with the Sonus Faber height adjustable speaker stands. Also the choice of amplifier can increase the sound quality of the speaker. I use a Krell KAV 300i and before that a Audio Lab 8000 C+P. The Krell produces a more stable sound than the Audio Lab.

Thanks to the guys of "De Hifi Studio" and "De Hifi Winkel" for their advice.

Strength:

Dynamics, imaging, and drive.

Weakness:

Very low bass, but it is a mini-monitor.
Needs powerful amplifier.

I have owned the Signums for over a year and through numerous system iterations.
I was looking for a speaker to play music the way I like it, hard/loud and punchy, but with bags of detail.
I'm a 70's jazz/funk and soul man, so I've got to feel the music, but having a 3m * 3m listening space ruled out floor standers.
I hadn't even considered the Signums until my dealer advised me to give them a try. When I turned on the music, I knew that I had found what I was looking for, I was just amazed at how big and powerfull a sound they generated, I looked for the sub-woofer.
I what start using the hackneyed audio phrases, plain and simple if you love music and that is what Hi-Fi is there for, and you have a smallish listening room then the Signums should be on top of your audition room.
They aren't cheap for how much physical material you get, but they are a work of Italian art to look at, and demand the best components that you can afford, as they get better with each step up in quality.

Strength:

INCREDIBLE DEPTH OF SoUNDSTAGE, BUILD QUALITY, TRANSPARANCY

Weakness:

NONE FOR WHAT THEY ARE MEANT TO DO

Was saving up for a year for a pair of Sonus Faber's Amati Homage or possibly a pair of Revel's own Salon's but after hearing these speakers with a REL STORMIII sub i completly changed my mind and put the cash i saved($10-15 thousand)towards upgraded cabling and amplification!!!Everyone that heard this setup vs. the floorstanding Revel's and Sonus's agreed it was just hands down the best sounding setup by far overall!!!!Properly setup theres nothing either of those floorstanders could do that this setup couldnt and in many areas fell far short.......these monitors are highly recommended with a REL in their corner!!!!!

Strength:

Detail, installation, transparency

Weakness:

deep bass

If you add a subwoofer which sounds below 80Hz you can't belive your ears. It sounds like at least 10.000USD speakers. Your listening room will be a concert hall. Thanks Akusta(local delaer) and Sonus for their works.

"Signum" - a present a creation italian masters , either as all product /SONUS FABER/. Earlier I had SF - "Concerto" , this has changed my Monitor Audio-"PMC 702", "Studio 6".
In my small room (3.15õ5.80 m.) they are brought forth on 1.55ì. and having impedans 4 Om. splendid coare read with partners ( Exposure-25, Exposure-CD, wire trakt - Transparent Audio "Plus").
Very strong line - a feeling a road, exclusive sound, separation super sort. This does not do SF-"Concerto".
Hope else much shall long rejoice "Signum".
Without fall install on branded stands.
I like music JAZZ, CLASSIC.
