Strength:

Model is 2001. Fullness, airy, Soundstage depth, Fullness, great looks

Weakness:

Sound bright w/some amps

I'm in the process of putting together my first "real" audio system. I listened to a number of speakers in the price range of 3-6K, and found that all have their high points and advantages, but for me, the Sonus Faber GP speakers made the music come alive and had layers of fullness, and depth that I did not experience as much with the other speakers that I auditioned. You could really sense the soundstage. They sound simply fantastic. On all the speakers, I played Diana Krall, Yes, Queen, Miles Davis, and Le Nocce Di Figaro since I like to listen to a wide variety of music.
The GP's sound the best with jazz and vocals. The Aerial Accoustics were my second favorite speakers and sounded better to me when playing YES and Queen.
I also listend to the speaker in a HT audition w/Theta CasablancaII and was really surprised/impressed at how fantastic they sounded since I was primarily interested in them for music. I thought they sounded better in HT than the Revel speakers that are supposed to be awesome for HT.
I listened to the speakers with Krell amp/preamp and the GP sounded a bit bright, but when I auditioned them with Classe amp/preamp, and Theta CasablancaII/Dreadnaught they sounded much warmer, and the bass was more prominent. The salesperson at the store indicated that when the new GP model came in a few months back that everyone was really surprised at the improvement over the previous model. I haven't heard the previous model so I can't speak to that.
In summary, a wonderful speaker that I'm sure I will enjoy for a long time.

Strength:

Sound stage, smooth articulate detailed highs, full bodied midrange and fast clear bass

Weakness:

Absolutely none

I have looked for speakers for quite some time that would work well in my medium to small (13.5'x17'x8') listening room. I have owned all of the speakers I listed above, and over the last year auditioned numerous others. To the point, I have found the Sonus Faber Grand Piano HOME to be one of the best speakers I have ever listened to. And in my listening room, it is a perfect match.

Soundstaging on all forms of music it phenomenal. These speakers have the best soundstaging of any speakers I have heard. I have several discs that I use to evaluate soundstage, and with these speakers they throw a huge soundstage, far to the left and right as well as above and behind the speakers. Far from requiring placement away from the back wall, I specifically bought these because they sound great placed near the back wall. Mine are only 24 inches from the back wall.

The mids of this speaker are glorious! Good grief. If anyone auditions these speakers and finds the mids anything but glorious, you are auditioning speakers that have clearly been set up pathetically, because the midrange of these speakers is just what I said, glorious.

The highs on these speakers are also fantastic. Not only do they allow a silky smooth presentation of detail, they blend seamlessly with the rest of the frequencies to present a wholeness to the music that must be heard to believe. I cannot stand bright, edgy or sibilant sounding recordings or equipment. Hearing the highs on these speakers it an absolute marvel.

The bass is also solid for speakers of this size and two 7" drivers. They are not the last word in deep bass, but these speakers reproduce a bass that is harmonically integrated perfectly with the rest of the frequencies. It allows you to follow distinctly all of the bass lines in the music. It is also a bass that works exceptionally well in small to medium sized rooms.

In addition, you can turn these speakers up LOUD with no listening fatigue. I have played these speakers as loud as I can for hours, dancing and partying. I have danced more with this system than with any others.

The speakers excel at providing detail without being bright or etchy. They also unravel complex passages like no other speaker I have heard.

These speakers were a breakthrough for me, and I will tell anyone, go and audition them and if they have been set up correctly, you WILL be awed. I know of no one who has auditioned these speakers who has found them anything BUT phenomenal. People either love them or have not heard them.

SYSTEM: SONY 777ES -> AQ Lapis III -> Audible Illusions M3-A most recent version -> Silver Audio Hyacinth -> Bel Canto EVo 200.2 two in mono -> AQ Sterling II -> Sonus Faber Grand Piano HOME (Glorious!) If these speakers were ever going to be bright, they would be in this system, and they are anything but.

Strength:

Good soundstage, sweet mid and high with a good warm up.

Weakness:

No re-sell value due to the unresponsible dealer

The speaker does not have any problem at all it's really worth for what you pay for. But I would like to said SF had the worse decision on the dealer in Hong Kong. I bought this pair at the easter for 2700 but it's price drop to 2000 for less than one month from the dealer, I was rip off by the dealer (Excel) and felt piss off. If SF want to have an image for you product in Hong Kong and the Mainland China then they need to think twice on this dealer that wound your name.

Strength:

Dynamic,3D,Transparent,Very good detail.

Weakness:

None.

I traded my Concertos (Stereophile class B)for the GPHome because I needed more dynamic drive. Right away I noticed the speaker sounded better than the older Concertos. The GPH sounded more musical and showed a little more detail than the Concertos. They were not as dynamic as the ForteII but they sounded more natural. I have notice some unnatural vocal simbilants while playing bad recordings and natural simbilants while playing good recordings. My system is B&K PT3 preamp, B&K 1400II amp ,Sony SACD 333ES. Sometimes I use my Odyssey amp.

Strength:

Vocals, details, soundstage

Weakness:

NO bi-wiring

Very nice product. I have an hybrid amplification that give to these speakers a velvet sound with great clarity and a very good soundstage. Vocals are simply realistic. Sometimes I thought to meet Patrica Barber and Ani Difranco at my home :-) !For a better soundstage you have to to try more positions in the room. I found the better one at 130 cm from the front wall and 100 cm from the lateral walls 10-10° angled to the center. If you prefer jazz, classic and blues music, you have to try them!

Strength:

Clean deep controlled well integrated Bass, Very Open detailed mid-range, Clear detailed and sweet High End. Also very wide sound stage.

Weakness:

? Need a good run in. But don't they all?

I've completed over 100 Hrs at fairly high volumes. Before the run-in the mid and top was harsh/too Bright/Forward and quite coloured (I very nearly returned them), But now that the speakers have run in, The sound has opened up and the speakers have all but disappeared and what I have left is just beautiful music. They have given a new life to my existing CD's, The CORRS and Bryan Adams Un-Plugged really transport you there, You can relate to Andrea Corr's beautiful voice, Close miked guitar is very realistic.
I've also found that facing the speakers directly at the listening position made a lot of difference to the sound.

Very Highly Recommended.

Strength:

Vocal, overall soundstage, Bass

Weakness:

Need careful positioning

I changed my Grand Piano Concerto to the new Grand Piano Concerto Home, the immediate impact I have is deeper bass, better and extended vocal and a precise mid range. So for those who have the old model, it is strongly recommended to have such a change/upgrade. Now in the process of running in the speaker and will put something up later.

All speakers were attached to Arcam Diva 92 CD player, and Arcam Diva 85 integrated amp.
Superb sound in our living room...13 x 20 x 9 (H). The salespeople all thought that their speakers sounded better at home than in their showrooms.
The Pianos provide concert hall sound, particularly with string quartets, solo piano, solo violin. The bass was so inegrated that you could never say, oh, that's great bass (which was the problem with the Totem Forest). The Tempo was fine, but just too bright. In any case, this is a fine combanition of components.
A useful lesson here....if you can listen to all components in your own space, you are much better off. Listening rooms can be deceiving, and dealers often attach their finest components for speaker listening, components that you many not afford.

The product year is really 2001 ..Well I guess im the first on this product. This is my 3rd set of sonus farber..When i unpacked them i was impressed on the stands . Very heavy cast metal..came with what I call there own dust covers..Or blankets..for when they sleep. But with these babys i dont think they have slept since i owned then..found no flaws in them..I got them hooked up sounded good right out of the box..Used 10 dollar speaker wire even..Broke them in for a week then went out and got some audioquest clear wire. I feel the sound got a little softer with the wire..Im using a crown pro amp and a b&k pre amp..Ok for the highs i feel they are clean and crisp..The mid is very good, very smooth .the bass.. dont tell anyone but i put in some rap to see how it would handle that over recorded bass..Passed i feel with flying colors..Bass is improved from last years models. Also they crank up real good to if you like it load and clear...The listening expeareance is awesome with the GP's..Makes you really appriciate jazz. Very realistic sound, piano, horns drums, gutars..they really reveal bad recorded music,, you can tell right away if the recording is good..They blow away the concetinos..The other ones i owned..They sound makes you want to keep it on all night..anyway..im not going to talk sound stages and stuff.. I did get a chance to listen to there big brother the Amatis..Only if i had 20k best speakers i heard..The pianos are good for me.. no complaints..
