Sometimes in life one gets it right, not always but sometimes. Buying the Sonus Faber Domus Grand Pianos, plus sub, centre and rears was one of them for me. Not being an AudioPhile, like your other reviewers, I can't possibly comment on the finer aspects of the sound reproduction, but to me it is delightful, warm and thrilling. As for their sheer beauty I can certainly comment. Lucky people that own a Ferrari or a Lamborghini know the feeling, the one they get when they open their front door and catch the first glimpse of their beautiful super cars. Well I get that feeling too when I walk into my lounge and see the Grand Pianos standing there. Fabulous walnut and gorgeous black leather combined by Italian craftsmen into functional objects having grace and beauty. No they are not cheap, what worth having in life is. Are they worth it, certainly, oh most certainly.

Esteticamente bello e ben rifinito, occupa lo spazio di un diffusore da stand. Per suonare bene bisogna distanziarlo dalle pareti laterali e dietro i diffusori di almeno un metro, in questa situazione suona dettagliato con medio-alti presenti ma mai fastidiosi. Accoppiato ad un buon finale il basso è ben presente ma asciutto, non ci sono code fastidiose che possono dar fastidio alla gamma media. Io lo piloto con un krell ka 300i in una sala di 50 mq, ho distanziato i diffusori 2 metri tra loro, dalle pareti laterali 1,20m, posteriore 1 m. con i diffusori non ruotati nel punto di ascolto. In questa situazione spariscono dando la sensazione di una scena profonda ed un palcoscenico credibile. Da un confronto fatto con thiel cs3.6 le gpd sono meno luninosi, ma non per questo meno dettagliate, il medio basso è più presente di quello profondo, tutto sommato questo carattere le rendono molto musicali.

All SF speakers are gorgeous to look at, especially the Amati aniversario, the Domus Grand Piano is not an exception, it is beautiful to look at, and a delight to listen. Nevertheless, a speaker at this price range must sound good, not just look good. In my humble opinion, for the price range, and after auditioning several other speakers, including B&W, Dynaudio, Martin Logan, Opera; I felt that the SF Domus Grand Piano were the best of the lot. The best way to describe them is as incredibly musical, with an amazing level of detail, but were not as precise as the B&W, nevertheless I personally valued the musicality more. The sound is natural, even organic compared to other brands. This I would tend to think comes mainly from the use of a lute shaped design. They are very warm, although initially they tended to be somewhat low on bass and highs were a tad shrill. But after some consistent use the bass loosened up and the shrill went away; and the speakers really came into their own. One other point is that I have a Unison Research S6 tube amp that also tended to have somewhat feeble bass, but after changing the tubes to a sextet of Gold Lion KT 77's, and a pair of Mullard ECC82's, the sound improved incredibly, getting an amazing full range response at any sound level from the SF D GP. I also have a Lindemann 820 SACD, which I bought for a bargain, that undoubtedly helps get great sound from them as well. I listen to most types of music, from heavier rock to classical, and the speakers just rock regardless of whatever you throw at them, although prior to the tube change rock and more packaged pop music was not all that good as acoustic, bossanova, lounge, jazz or classic.

This is one of most classy design speakers I have seen. It is light and easy to move around. And the quality is 2nd to none.
It has a loud and clear sounds and very detailed. Sound great with female audiophile songs like Norah Jones.

It is expensive and sound a little too bright for me. But after 100 hours+ of listening, the bright sound get better.

This speaker looks very luxury, classy and sexy, especially the piano black.
It sounds loud and clear and very detailed. Bass is sufficient. I think it sounds better with 200w solid state amplifier even though im using it with Balanced audio VK-60 tube amplifier currenty.
