PSB Speakers Image 5T Floorstanding Speakers

PSB Speakers Image 5T Floorstanding Speakers

DESCRIPTION

Coupling the Image tweeter with a pair of 6.5" rubber-surround woofers, this speaker combines great definition with amazingly potent and extended low-frequency response. The addition in enclosure size to accommodate the larger woofers helps add power handling as well as deep bass, for more performance in larger rooms.

clean sound ,video shielded.

BASS RESPONSE

I use these speakers with a Sherwood Newcastle R-945 and so far to date I find very little to complain about the music seems very clean and smooth for speakers in this price range
If there is any kind of flaw it may be in the bass response area but it is tolerant to most listeners. So don't be afraid to audition these, they will do the job , but don't get me wrong there is better , alot better in this class
such as the B&W's and Paradigm's but I wasn't able to find a dealer near bye . So I settled for these and I think they will do me for now. As far as my rating I never will give 5 stars because there is no such thing as perfect so 3 is better then average in my book.

For the money, the PSB Image line can't be beat. I bought a complete Image pkg and I have to say, I'm more than impressed. 5t's for the mains, 2b's for the rear, 8c for the center, and the Alpha SubSonic 5 subwoofer. I'm still blown away every time I sit to either watch a movie or listen to music. Fantastic bang for the buck!

Weakness:

doesnt go to low...too bad or else i wouldnt have anything to put here.

i bought the 4ts and exchanged them for this 5t for more bass. and wow, did i get bass? yeah...atleast for my little room. sounds like 2 12inch subs in my small room.
they may not be as smooth as the 4ts because of the bigger bass elements thou...but im still happy.
this speaker will fit on ANY, and i mean ANY cd or movie. trust me.

none so far

I just upgraded from the 4T to the 5T. For the relatively small amount of money to make the move (I arranged with my dealer to first try the 4T, and then move to the 5T if I decided to do so), it was well worth it. A night and day difference. Much more bass, more authentic reproduction of music and sound effects.

I only use the 5T for home theater. I use a very high-end ($50K)system for listening to music. I also upgraded form the 8C to the 9C center channel speaker. Much smoother, much more "weight" to the sound. I was watching/listening to the James Taylor DVD the other night, just spectacular.
I'm using 3LRs in the rear. I wouldn't use them as my front speaker. Not enough bass and too bright, probably because of the relatively poor bass response. But, for the money and for rear speakers they're just fine. Subsonic 6 for the subwoofer. You can read my review of that subwoofer under that listing.

I'm giving the speaker 5 stars as an overall rating, but it's relative to its class. Clearly, it can't compete with over $1K speakers, but for the money, it's an excellent value.

Price,Build,the high tech look!

The Image series is a great new series, I like the high tech look. The sound they produce is great, nice sound stage, easy to push, my Denon 3300 pushes them with no problem. The image series will easly replace Energys now discontined Con-series. I like the look better than the exl-series.With the cost for these speakers you cant go wrong! I would recommend the image 5's all around with the image 8 or 9c for center. There is enough bass if you are into just music, but for hometheater I would get a 12in sub. Anyone can e mail me for a Canadain shipper, I will put you in contact with a shipper who will ship anywhere at rock bottom prices, the PSB speakers are package properly, unlikley to be damage in shipping.

An attractive package. On paper a great speaker at a great price. However, a speaker should not be purchased for looks alone, so how does it sound?

Flat.

For some reason this speaker did not involve me with the music. It provided a laidback, almost muted reproduction. I must admit I may be biased since I had just listened to the Dynaudio several days before and the two speakers are not in the same price range $750 compared to $1600. For an entry level speaker that needs SAF approval it warrents a listen. But for the audiophile or enthusiast I would look else where.

Before I purchased this pr. of speakers I did some research by reading reviews and listen to them. Finally I pick the PSB 5T due to the fact that it fulfill my needed. Also price is a major factor for me. Frankly speaking of course there are a lot of speakers is much better than 5T but for $749.00 it just worth every penny you spend.Listen to them and it will tell you how much you can enjoy your HT and music . I like this speaker very much.

Strength:

Weakness:

mabye a litte light discant.

This is the best speakers I ever got, the bass is just so
great. One of the first CDs I tried with it, was the TOTO
1999 live, and the punsh in the bass drum just kicked my
ass;) I tried the song (caught in the balance, TOTO 1999 live)
on many other systems, and I never got the same punch and
feel as on the PSB speakers. I have played the speakers a
lot, and they are just getting bether every day. It took some
time to balance the NAD amp. right, and I still addjust the
bass and treble for different CDs. I just can't understand
that people buy amps without treble and bass???
I like all kind of music, all from classic to heavy metal
sounds great.
The only thing that I can complain about is that the discant
sounds a little high sometimes, but that's not a prob. as long
as you got treble controll;)
The greatest thing is the price, I can't understand that PSB
can sell image 5t for that crazy price.
Sorry for my bad english.
I can just say one thing, go and buy them!!

Strength:

These speakers are amazing. I listened to everything in this price range and my ears liked theses the best. These speakers sound good no matter what type of music I play. They are great looking and priced fairly. They took about 40 hours of listening time to break in and they just keep sounding better. They sound as good as they look.

Weakness:

None, seriously.

Great sounding speakers if they are played on a quality receiver. I run them off a Onkyo TX-DS575x with a Onkyo DV-C501 DVD player. They sound perfect.
