These are Two thumbs up for sure...No question about it! I'm sure i've blown more speakers on purpose than anyone I know....and knows me, and I think I've had more than half the speakers out there from the Bose 10.2 which i sold and miss very much,a Project G from Claritone, and my JVC 360 globes, I rebuilt lost in the flood.. just to name a few..but these PSB 600's Rock my world! You can Unplug your sub with these guy's! I'm running it from a Sony TC-570 "1977 I think" and a Spectrum SEG 240 EQ. I always want to turn it up more because the sound is so there... I just want say Son of.... evrytime I listen to them and smile inside and out.
They also carry mind blowing sound with my Electohome S-610, I bought them new and still mint condition, I would buy a pair of these if you ever come across them, trust me your post will soon follow mine....Let your ears feast!

Strength:

Extremely accurate.

Weakness:

None

I bought these speakers based upon the reviews I read here. Nobody closer than a four hour drive carried them. I was looking for accurate speakers that would function in an HDTV home theatre, but would stand up as outstanding monitors for a stereo system. I have four of these enclosures as well as the matching center channel. I also have a Kenwood SW-300 subwoofer. I am powering all of this with an Onkyo TX-DS575 receiver. My DVD is a Toshiba with progressive scan (sorry, I can't remember the model).

I've never been in a situation where money was no object, but I have never heard a better sounding set of speakers. Everything I put into them comes out dead-accurate. Unfortunately, crappy sounding recordings sound crappier than usual. CDs that were mastered with modest sound systems in mind sound that way.

Speaking of mastering, I recently mastered a CD of some of my original music (a mid-life crisis, I guess). The sound system in the studio used Mackie bi-amplified near-field monitors. I think my PSBs sound better.

I have been using them for about six months and I find them to be incredibly versatile. I recently watched "Immortal Beloved," which features a lot of Beethoven. The sound quality was amazing. My very young cousin visited a few weeks ago and I cranked up the system with Stone Temple Pilots. His ears are probably still ringing.

I know I took a rather foolish risk by purchasing speakers without hearing them first, but I couldn't be more delighted with the result. I paid around $900 for all five enclosures.

I was looking for a pair of surrounds for my psb setup. I love the psb line but found that these speakers are a little muddled in the midrange. The psb 800i's I have as mains are much more crystal clear when I a/b them. The 800 also had more bass but I guess that is only to be expected. All in all a fair speaker. It does everything well though. I would have liked it if it wasn't side by side with its bigger brother. I think I will get another pair of 800s for the rear when I see a good deal.

Strength:

Superb Sound Quality

Weakness:

fussy on placement (low bass response if not stategically placed) No Problem with PSB Subsonic 5 added

I've had these for over 5 years now and I can honestly say I never get sick of listening to them, this is what started me on my PSB journey. Every speaker I own is a PSB speaker, because quite frankly I've yet to hear a speaker that pleased me more than these, I've had many hours in front of different Paradigm's and I just dont see the appeal, they do not sound nearly as transparent or centred as the PSB's, I've been pushing them with the same Yamaha reciever for 5 years as well, 55w a side, I've just recently upgraded to a new Yamaha RX-V596 (100w a side) and I was blown away again, It's like falling in love all over again. I couldn't recommend these speakers more.

Strength:

Solid sound spectrum from mid bass to highs

Weakness:

sub base just really isn't there

Have loved the speakers since day 1, and still not getting bored. With a complete PSB Dolby Digital sound system, movies are great. Subwoofer is needed to fill the lacking sub bass. Just purchased PSB 12" speaker stands and imaging has improved two fold. Seperation is amazing, and no small detail is missed. Funny when a friend spends 1000 dollars on Mirage speakers around the same size, and does not gain any performance compared to my PSB's....

Poor guy ;)

Strength:

good, tight bass; natural midrange

Weakness:

reticent highs

I don't own these speakers, but a friend does and I have listened to them for many hours in both a music and home theater context.

Compared to the Pardigm Monitor 7's that I own, I would say that I have a slight preference for the bass of the PSB's. It always seems controlled and distinct, whereas the Pardigm's sometimes seem a little soft or even boomy (with the wrong room placement).

I would rate the midrange as a tie: vocals are clear and natural-sounding on both.

The high seem somewhat recessed with the PSB's, compared to the Paradigms. Some people might prefer this tonal balance; but I do not. To me, the Paradigm's seem a little more life-like. (Paradoxically, when my friend cranks up the volume, the highs sound very harsh to me. However, this could be because his other equipment is relatively low-budget.)

Overall, this is definitely a speaker worth a listen. Also, I think the Century series is about to be replaced by the PSB Image series, in which case there may be some great closeout deals.

I listened to many speakers before I bought the 600is. At the end it was between the Vandersteen 1Cs and the 600is and the 600is won. Excellent soundstaging, clarity and tonal balance. The female voice is perfect. To get something as good, my next step up was around $1500. i love the 600is.

Very satisfied with 600i speakers. Replaced KEF 103.3. Powered with a NAD 2200PE amplifier. Replacing the interconnects with Audioquest topaz and turquoise cables brought the 600i's to life. Great value to the price. Bought a pair of PSB 400's for the rear channels. They are natural oak and not dark cherry like the 600i's. Bought them for the sound, not the looks. I believe that this is very important to consider when purchasing these or any speakers. In both instances, these speaker pairs were showroom broken in and I could listen the exact speaker that was being purchased, not straight from the box!
