i purchased my 500s about three years ago and i am VERY satisffied with them.i feel anybody looking to buy speakers should look at these.ilooked at just about every speaker around and they sounded the best for there price.although the only thing i did not like is you cant turn the bass up very much at high levels other than that they are awesom speakers and ucould not go wrong with these.i am sold on the psb line of speakers.

Source - Pioneer 414 DVD
Amp - NAD 912
Pre - NAD 917
I/Cs - DH Labs
Speaker Wire - DH Labs

I have had these for 3 years now and cannot stop being amazed. On every upgrade these speakers have pushed the performance out further. Proving that they are not the limiting factor in what has evolved to be a pretty respectable system.
I remember upgrading to the amp/pre from our old cheapo receiver and we watched "Meet Joe Black". I was floored by the fireworks diplay at the end. I could feel the explosions make feeble impacts on my chest just like on the 4th of July (or the 1st in Canada).

Those who have not had a totally awesone experience may want to consider other upgrades in their systems before giving up on these. This sentiment is echoed by my brother-in-law who certainly qualifies as an audiophile and has a much more expensive system than mine.

The strongest points of this speaker are the ability to distinguish each component of sound, no matter how much is going on. Every thing sounds very natural, except for the lowest of bass. With test tones I estimate it starts to slope down below 40 hz, with usable bass at 32 hz. Nevertheless, with a decent system you will be continually impressed on how lot it can actually go. I cant wait to couple this with a more powerful amp and a good sub.

The sound stage is excellent between the speakers and often jumps even beyond. The latter to me is the mark of true high end systems. Often on a movie track I jump up because the sound seems like it is coming from way beyond the speakers, mind you this is without surround system.
Some other examples are;
on some material I can hear the singer draw a breath or the valves on a sax flutter.
