I own a pair of SDA-CRS+ and also a pair of it's bigger brother, the SDA-1A. I am currently using them in my home theater. I just cant say enought about these speakers. Go out now and find a pair and buy them. They work best with the cord connected between them. Proper setup is very important to make the illusion work. Cost? I gave $200.00 for the CRS+ w/stands and cable. The 1A's I got as part of a system I bought(Adcom 555II amp,Adcom DAC 600,Adcom 565 preamp,Audioquest Crystal Bi-wire 12'long and the Polk SDA-1A's for $575.00!)The Carver C-9 Sonic Holography does the same electricly. I have one of these too. See my in depth review of how it works there. But remember this: They only work in a sweet spot and if u move ur head an inch the illusion may disappare.
MUSIC: This is great because it only works with certain music. So u get to go through your entire collection just to see what has magic in it!E-mail me at

I have owned these speakers for 11 years, and I haven't even come close to replacing them. The bass I get from these things is phenominal. And the Siver Voice coil tweeter was the industry reference for years. The SDA technology work like most cross-talk cancellation circuits. The CRS's did benefit like its big brothers because they had more drivers, and that seems to be essential for the effect. I don't use the SDA cable because it seems to detract from the bass impact.
The two drivers are horizontally alligned with the tweeter placed in the middle just above the mid-bass drivers; not unlike most center channel speakers. The inner most (center-most) driver contains two voice coils, one for mid-bass, the other for cross-talk cancellation. In fact that's how All the SDA's are configured, no matter how many drivers they used. They sit on metal stands about three and a half feet above the floor. I got these things on sale for $750, but saw them go for as little as $600. I wouldn't trade these for anything.

Strength:

Incredible Treble, good bass for size

Weakness:

at very loud levels the bass doesn't sound as good, possibly my amplifier

I got these speakers from my dad about a year ago. The imaging is excellent and the bass is very good for the size of the speakers and my amplifier. I run a 50 watts per channel amplifier and that seems to be plenty of power for the casual listener. Overall this is one of the best pair of speakers I have listened to. If you ever see a nice pair for sale, I would suggest you buy them.

Strength:

Great sound, excellent imaging. Good bass for their size

Weakness:

None. Although, I should have gotten the matching stands when I bought them.

I've had these speakers for over 12 years now and they are simply awesome. Got them in high school and have looked at upgrading several times now that I can afford it, but I haven't found any speakers in a decent price range that have made me want to change. If you can find these used somewhere, BUY them!
