Good Highs, great looks, good build quality and can handle well music.

Weakness:

Hi to all
I purchased this speaker as birthday gift for my family. This speaker is well designed and well built can be used for mid rooms size. Speaker requires a good amplifer to power them with low end of AVR the speaker are hardly felt. As i have read for over three decades Polk has defined speaker power and performance. i feel every polk is a model of percision, high fidelity and exceptional tonal quality. I am not a serious audiophile who is particular ab out every detail but i am looking for a high power theratre experience.

At first hand of listen i planned to buy this.

Strength:

highs, looks ,build qualityand music.

Weakness:

low end is a little boomey, mids are non existantand movie quality suffers because of mids.

These speakers are a little hard for me to describe in a languge for you unaudiophiles out there hewever i will try.
First things first i used these speakers whith a low level reciever made by Onkyo the model number is txns595 they are rated at 75 watts per channel at 8 ohmes so naturally i figured they wouldnt hurt the speakers due to these speakers crazy efficientness (93 dbs is crazy.)Now to the good stuff.Idid bi amp these speakers and when i put them to the test (volume at about 38to42)they couldnt handle it i about blew them within 1 minute the two bass drivers were excruding to the max and crazy enough so was the driver for the mids, which leads me to believe that the xover is a little off,the high end was unflutterd and handled all the power very well never sounding overly bright(harsh on your ears.)I recently sold that reciever and suggested a pair of infinities to the new owner (who is new to the reciever world)and they handle the power just fine(however the infinities are not bi ampable)so i borowed the the reciever one last time to audition the polk rti10s again only this time not bi amped and the result was just the same.If you are planing to buy a set of these speakers make sure its not a higher end unit for it WILL blow these speakers so in other words buy a sony, lower end denon(under 1500)or harmon kardon i think they will match up well with a harmon and moderatly well with a better sony lets say 500 and above hell even the es series as well as another onkyo just make it a newer one the amp rating arent quite right.Over all id say the highs are traditional polk as is the mid range(yawn)and to try to impress the youger age bracket made the low end to easy to push to make them happy with a lower end reciever but believe me when i say bass is easy to creat but what makes relly good sound is a good mid range,if youre like me kick these to the curb and buy a infinity system preferably the beta, mids are wonderful and highs are real and if your really serious try the polk lsi series they rival boston, paradigm and many other moderatly high end speakers but that review is yet to come.

Strength:

Great highs and mid's Decent bass I also like the way the look..

Weakness:

Since I did recommend them for home theater setups, you will defintely need a subwoofer to complete the package...for powerful bass..I'd go with an HSU or Svs for that.

Bought these speakers after demoing and doing quite a bit of research. I think they were a great purchase, I would say they are an excellent choice for those who will be using them for 70-80% home theater, and 20-30% music. I don't think these are the best musical speakers, although they still sound great, I would prefer the Lsi series for music. Another thing that helps is bi-amping the speakers, which seems to make them sound more alive. I've been able to max out the volume on my receiver and still had excellent sound from these speakers. Very nice flat response, they do sound different than the Rti8's and 12's in that sense, so just because they are in the same series doesn't mean they have the same sound. Overall, I would recommend these to anyone that is thinking about doing a home theater setup. Obviously, audio will end up being a personal preference, so demoing any speaker is important.

Weakness:

Poor mid range and treble Low dynamic range Low efficiency

I bought the Polk RTi10 for my brother from Futureshop in Canada. I was vey disappointed in these speakers. They could not handle high power as the sound got distorted but they also require a power amplifier to drive them. The result was a limited dynamic range. The treble and mid range were terrible. They were ok for movies but not good for music. Even my Arcam Delta 290 seemed not strong enough to drive them. Then I compared the RTi10 with the B&W603. The B&W603 was far more superior than the Polk in every kind of music. The B&W sounded very natural and dynamic at all audio frequencies. Even my $150 Infinity speakers in my car sounded more accurate than the RTi10. I had to return these speakers. I also noticed the RTi8 was better than RTi10.

Strength:

Clear highs, future look(style is hit or miss I would guess) decent mids and solid(but not enough for me) bass

Weakness:

They are big and silver faced with spikes for the carpet, so they may not be your "style" as they are hard to miss.

I previously had the POLK rt800 speakers in CA but my move made me say good-bye. I found these for a reasonable price at a local Circuit City so I thought I would give them a try. Nice. Polk did a superb job with these. They were a bit "dead" sounding at first but really opened up after about 2 months of music, movies, games and Tv. They have an easy sound, clear highs, mellow mids and decent bass. The spikes are a nice touch as well. I was happy I already had an M&K sub to pick-up where they leave off but that is just because I like bass. A great speaker if you can find a good deal as I think 1000+ MSRP is too high.

Strength:

-Bright Highs - I like that -Rather Impressive Bass -When Bi-Amped they are really nice -Very nice speaker for the money

Weakness:

If not Bi-amped, Runs a 4-ohm load. Wish they were a 4 way speaker with a small mid-range, they do the mids nice enough but its a personal thing.

They are great speakers for the price. I'm an Audio Salesman for Circuit City so I got them at a great discount directly from Polk. I listen to many types of speakers and these impressed me greatly. They are a good choice if you listen to blues, rock, metal, or r+b. They do great with classical but i think there are better speakers for classical (mainly ones that have an aluminum cones or some other hard material). The Highs are bright, the mid-bass are accurate and the 2 7inch subs can produce pretty low frequencies considering their size. The Subs will reproduce most low frequencies in music but they will not rumble your house. A good sub paired with these speakers will make them complete and give you a near perfect sound. When I say a good sub i do mean something like a Velodyne, upper end Polk, Infinity or others. If you put a cheap $200 sub you will add nothing but a rumble in your room. The only thing that i noticed is to make these speakers shine you should Bi- amp them. If not bi-amped they sound great, but they really show you what they can do when they are Bi-amped. I have them Bi-amped and they sound better at my house than they do im my work which isn’t biamped but hooked up to a better receiver (HK AVR630). If you don’t have the chance to bi-amp them at least bi-wire them. Another thing is that they run at a 4-ohm load if they have a single wire or bi-wired hooked up to your receiver. I know they say they run at an 8-ohm load, but each post is 8 ohms, so when you parallel them they drop to 4 ohms, so make sure you have a nice enough receiver that can handle a 4 ohm load. All around I love them, I listen to black, death and various other types of metal, and these speaker really do a spectacular job at it.

I waited until Circuit City discontinued these speakers, then decided to buy the last set New in Box. These babies rock and produce sweet, oh so sweet music. I would definately recommend these puppies to anyone that wants great sound at an affordable price.Circuit City discontinued these speakers for the Monitor series, Great deal for me. I've never seen them less than $400each. I got both new in box for $590 pair!Black/Cherry Retail is $1139.00 Pair. There are good deals out there, you just have to wait, then snatch em up.
