Strength:

build quality, bass, spatial seperation

Weakness:

heavy, large, can be a bit boomy if not placed correctly

A nice sounding speaker overall. Plays both music and movies very well. I expected this speaker to give top notch performance on home theater, but was pleasantly surprised on how spatial and delicate the 2000i was on music. I have not found a better speaker that can perform both music and movie functions as well as the Polks.

My system:
Polk 2000i, 400i, and RT 55
Velodyne CT-150 subwoofer for movie bass
Cerwin Vega HT-10 subwooder for music bass
Yamaha RXV-2095
Sony 300 disc CD
Sony DVD player

Rating (price paid taken into consideration):
4 - Musical Performance
5 - Home Theater Performance

Strength:

Very warm sounding, especially for Polks. Handles music and HT very well. Not that expensive when compared to other models in it's sound class.

Weakness:

Big and not particularly stylish, unless you get the cherry finish. Built in subs are a fad and only add to the cost.

I first upgraded to a pair of Definative Tech BP10's, which I found to be very good for HT and not so good for music. I then went to the 2000i's and have been very happy. They are very "warm" sounding, not something Polk is known for (I also have a cheaper pair of 1000i's for downstairs and they are very bright sounding, as were the 800p's I upgraded them from via Circuit City's trade up program). The 2000i's also work very well for music and HT. Nice clean bass from the dual 8'' woofers. I still don't get this whole built in subwoofer thing - I have a HSU research VT-2 stand alone sub and for $500 it blows away the subs built in to the Polk's and the DT's, plus I can place it better (to be fair, the VT-2 blows away most subs including ones costing 4 times as much, check the reviews). I wish they would make a model like the 2000i without the sub but what can you do.

Strength:

great bass;clear detailed mids;nice looking

Weakness:

None other than being heavy.

I've upgraded form the RM3300 series HT system and I am pleased. Just purchased the RT2000i's two weeks ago and so far no problems. I have heard form other reviews of the RT2000p which stated a problem with the imaging and suggested that to hear the speakers properly you would need to aim them directly at yourself. I have not found this to be true with the RT2000i's. So far they sound great. I still have to break them in so I will come back with an update.

Happy Listening

Incredibly full sound! Excellent for both music and Home theater!

Incredible Speakers! I recently upgraded from my Bose speakers to all Polk Audio. I first purchased the RT1000i's as my front speakers with the cs400i center and fx500i for my rear surrounds alond with the Energy subwoofer I already owned. I noticed an tremendous improvement over the Bose but found the low end lacking. I could hear bass but not feel it! I considered a larger sub but with the 30 day trade policy decided to upgrade my front polks to the RT2000i's. WOW!!!! What a difference! Not only do I have incredibly full sound and bass that I can feel, all the speakers blend perfectly! These are some awesome speakers and I highly recommend them to anyone!

Strength:

Warmth, clear and accurate highs, excellent for music and HT

Weakness:

As mentioned below, they're very heavy

Over the past 3-4 months, I've built my long-term stereo/HT system. I bought all the major components first, leaving the speakers for last. I decided early on, due to space constraints, that I needed main speakers with built-in powered subs. Of the many I listened to (Klipsch, Def Tec, etc.), the Polks struck me -- in the store, at any rate -- as the best combination of musicality, power, features and style. What more can you do before you buy? So I bought...

Once I got them home and set up, I was even more impressed. The sound is outstanding, both for music/CD and HT/DVD. Paired with the Polk 400i center (I do not yet have rear surrounds), HT is a genuine reality. Even my wife love them, and she generally couldn't care less about such things. Overall, I believe these speakers to be the best choice available for HT/stereo use when you don't want a separate sub box and want to keep the cost within reason. Thank you, Polk, for producing such an outstanding product.

Oh, and since it seems to be the custom here, the rest of my system:

Sony 36-inch WEGA XBR TV
Sony 555ES receiver
Sony 9000ES DVD (an astounding product)
Polk 400i center
Monster Power HTS5000 line conditioner
AudioQuest / VideoQuest cables

Strength:

I'm new to all this but they sound amazing so far

Weakness:

None that I can find but I've only had them for a week. I'll update in the next few months

Easy to set up, they were out of the box, hooked up and pumping inside of 2 hours. I haven't had a chance to really put the speakers through their paces yet but everything is wonderful so far. I have these as my main (and only) speakers so far and they're running out of my Denon 3802 beautifully. I don't know if they are worth 850.00 a piece but if you can find them on sale for 500. 00 like I did they're great. I'll update my revies sometime soon.

I have had the speakers for about a week now, I can say they are an improvement over my current Boston a70's. There is a more depth and accuracy. I have ben listening to the speakers for about 30+ hours now. I will write more at a later date.
