Strength:

crisp highs tight accurate bass nice mid-bass and midrange, great imaging, size, price

Weakness:

the sub on one of them was blown right out of the box but thats about it

As a 13 year old its hard to get the money for things like theese. ive been saving for a year and i finaly got them. i was deciding between these and the rt800i. no contest the 1000's had better mid and lows. the highs were the same b-cuz they use the same dynamic balance tweeters. i love the very little space they need because i dont have much in the front od my room. they sound amazing in movies and hold there own in the music department even though the subs bottom out easy on certain types of music. they sound the best with rock crisp and clear. this is what my 1000's are set up with:
reciever: sony de935
fronts: polk rt 1000i
mid rear: boston acoustics vrs thx pros
rears: polk fx500i
center: polk 245ci which sounds betta with the 1000's than the 4000ci
subs: jbl 1000psw(2)
dvd: sony 560d
burner: h/k crd20
cd: in the process of geting a 400 megastorage from sony
t.v.: ghetto rca ran out of $$$$$$
front speakercable: the new monster z1 illl
pretty nice system for some one thats still in middle school right? 5 stars all around

Strength:

Slim clean design, Beatiful sound

Weakness:

Manual was weak

When I went to listen to some speakers for upgrade.. I was origionaly looking at the RT55i's... seamed more reasonable to pay 289ea...when on the RT800i's.. its the same..with biggger cabinet..WEll! For some reason, on the RT1000i's the tweeter sounded more defined than on the 800i's or the 55i's.. I was realy surprised. I ended up taking home a pair of the 800i's to kind of save money... But that night I could not sleep..thinking about the diff in the highs. So next day.. I took em back and got the RT1000i's. I have not been happier with the speakers. I have all black .. they match my system better.. and I cannot say enough good about them. Anyone who does not like them... just is picking on the name... Yes... there are better out there... but for the price..that would be hard to beat.

Strength:

Clarity and crispness, dynamic sound field, great for both HT and music. I like the green lights on the powered sub.

Weakness:

My wife says they don't match the furniture.

I have been eyeing these speakers for about a year, and after being on this site countless hours pouring over the reviews, I decided it was time to buy. I was looking at the 2000's but I figured with the free sub special that CC was running, I could upgrade the sub to the PS350, get the CS400i center instead of the CS245i, an order the f/x500i's for the surrounds and stay within a reasonable price.
These have been superb since the day I have hooked them up. For the price and matched with a powered sub for only an additional $100.00 you can't go wrong. I may not be an audophile, but I am particular about definition and quality, and these towers have it. Plus, my kids can't stop watching the first five minutes of Toy Story II. Maybe that's a weakness. Good luck on your endeavors, but I definately recommend these speakers.

Strength:

Crisp, Clear Sound; Looks

Weakness:

Always On Status Light-Don't know when the amp is actually on

I was determing to upgrade my speakers to KLIPSCH.
I got my mine set on the KLIPSCH.
After listening for two days at four different stores, I went home with the RT1000i.
They are not as good as the high-end $1800(ea) speakers. One big reason is I think the high-end got a bigger built-in sub, which I don't need (already got one), but for $499(ea) they are the best in the $300 to $800 range.

Strength:

Great sound, solid bass (adjustable volume!), clear highs and mids.

Weakness:

Pricey, but worth it.

I replaced my 30 year old Sansui 3-ways with these, and man oh man, I wonder how I ever waited so long! It wasn't till I wandered into the Good Guys sound room to audition these speakers that I realized just how old and tired my Sansuis were. My wife about killed me when I told her how much they cost, but now even she admits they sound great. Besides handling everything I throw at them musically or DVD wise, they look great too, with a lovely cherry veneer cabinet. The powered sub in them handles the bass just fine, and can be adjusted with a volume knob in the back. I doubt you can do much better than these speakers for the money. Polk's RT2000i is a step up, but in my opinion, the sound difference does not warrant the higher cost. Definitely audition these before deciding on another brand.

Strength:

Do not own yet but I have listened to these and like them compared to Bose, Infinity and other mid-priced speakers.

Weakness:

This is a message for Brent from Dallas.

Why don't you offer some constructive critisism instead of just trashing the speakers? You offer no explanation as to what the weaknesses you find in them. Basically your comments are a waste of everyone's time.

I am rating these five stars because, after several listening sessions at higher-end (Myer-Emco) and mid-level (Circuit City) stores in the No. VA area, I like the full clear sound of the towers. Bass is nice but not overpowering. I will likely add a sub for movies. As noted above, I am not an audiophile but in this price range, these speakers stand out.

Amazing Highs and sbusonic Lows

Weakness:

Haven't found any yet

i recently purchased these speakers along with the fx 500i and cs400i speakers. I replaced my existing Yamaha fronts and JBL rears. I realized after pruchasing the speakers that I could hear frequencys in movies that I didn't know previously existed. The 1000I's out preformed my infinity subwoffer at times. While still dilivering clear highs. I must say hats off to Polk on these speakers. The best investment I ever made

Strength:

Solid construction; bottom ported; tweeter; crossovers

Weakness:

Amp is always on; less sensitive than Polk CS400i

With a toddler running around I had to replace my Paradigm Phantoms which were dangerously balanced on stands. Wanting to keep living space to a maximum I tried to find a physically stable speaker that could be placed close to a wall without much compromise.

The bottom ported design of the RT towers allows for this placement nicely. The cabinet of the RT1000i is much stronger and heavier than the Paradigm's, evident in the clarity of mid-bass and stability of the enclosure during high load.

The built-in amplified subs are great for my needs. I have properly calibrated my HT and the subs produce impressively even levels from 35hz and up. Below 35 the levels taper off pretty quickly. I'm no big bass fan, artificial bass levels are a pet peve of mine so I am very pleased with the moderate subwoofer presence in theatre and music. I'm disappointed by the RT2000i design, which does not improve on the RT1000i besides subwoofer output levels.

I route full-range signals to both front and center (CS400i) speakers with great success. The center is very impressive at 50hz and up. I prefer using the tower's built-in low-pass crossover than that in my Yamaha receiver. The Yamaha does a great job routing LFE into the other speakers so the DVD experience is not compromised, to my senses, and stereo sources sound better balanced.

I advise driving these with at least an 80 watt amp, mine perform well with 100w input, which is the largest source I own.

I'm very happy with these speakers due to their excellent performance (especially with the placement constraints), build quality, and value.

They get a "4" value rating for not matching the driver configuration of the CS400 (which runs with a severe -7db level to balance the towers. Polk's top of the line towers are equipped to better match the CS400, but the price difference is very high.

For prospective theatre-only buyers and for the engineers at Polk, try listening to three CS400i's for L/C/R with the PSW650 sub and F/X500i's in back. That's a shoe-in for THX certification.

Strength:

Great mids for single driver, amazingly tight highs. Not to mention the punching lows.

Weakness:

ummmm,nothing I've noticed yet.

I bought these bad boys for my entertainment system just 2 days ago. I'm 17 years old and the price retail price is kind of high at 499 each. However the great quality of these speakers make it worth every penny. I already have a velodyne Sub-woofer so I set the speakers to produce sounds about 80 Hz and give 20-79Hz to my sub. Sounds smooth and works perfectly. I also purchased a Polk CS400i Center with these. I think it was made for these speakers. My rear speakers are Polk RT35s which used to be my fronts!!! All these componets are hooked up to my Onkyo TXDS676 with perfectly produces awesome sound through every channel. Before you choose a location for your speakers move them around a little. I can tell a difference when I move each one just one foot out. You can't go wrong with these speakers. And don't buy the RT1000s, the mids are not as crisp. I bought these at Circuit City which has an amazing return policy! And they offer an extended warranty protection that no one should turn down.

Strength:

Very nice highs & mid-range
Beautiful construction & style

Weakness:

Perhaps a little to "bright" for some tastes

My initial impression was one of superb mid & high range (very bright), and slightly muddy bass. The Marrantz I have listened to for years are a somewhat warmer more mellow speaker hence my comparisons to it yielded the above analysis. After dialing down the sub bass output the muddyness cleared and I feel it is clean and more than adequate for my mid-sized room and music listening. I'm not a big surround sound movie fan so I don't have much of a reference of comparision here-my guess is they would be excellent surround front speakers with maybe a stronger sub required for the bass "freaks". After a week of listening I am very pleased-coupled to my STR-DB840 and optical feed of my CD they are superb. Speaker reviews are always subjective. I would caution fans of the warmer sound attributed to vac tubes, LP's etc. to note my weakness comment, however this was not a problem for me after the initial comparison.
