I recommend these speakers for serious music listeners who want uncolored, full-range sound without any spectacular "look-at-me" features, either cosmetic or audible. They are relative bargains for their sound quality, and come with brass cone isolation feet.

Now a discontinued model, the Pinnacle Platinum Performance P6.3 Tower was marketed as a successor to the Pinnacle Classic Gold Reference or Classic Gold Tower speaker. It was available in "Platinum" (dark gray) or black, possibly the meaning of the "B" in the model name given here.

In fact, after owning a pair of P6.3's, and after reading a recent review of the Pinnacle Performance P6.2 bookshelf speaker (which I also have a pair of, and which are the ONLY Platinum Performance speakers to have been reviewed professionally) on Audioholics.com, I have to say that the Platinum Performance series are probably not quite as accurate as the Classic Gold Reference series, or as authoritative in the bass as the Classic Gold Towers. However, they do have a similar design and drivers, and may come close in overall character and quality to the Classic Gold series. The Platinum Performance have polypropylene instead of fiber mid/bass drivers, and the tweeters do not have the gold layer (which may have been only cosmetic) of their predecessors.

I bought these online from a discount retailer in New York called Electronic Giant for only $300 a pair and free shipping. For the money, these were really a good deal. However, the retailer sent me a pair in "Platinum" (dark gray) rather then the Black that I had requested, and their communication regarding this problem (and in general) was pretty awful. In the end, I had little choice but to live with the color, made easier by the fact that my wife actually said she liked it better than black. Anyway, the main reason I bought them was the neutral and full-range sound quality. There were no speakers of their accuracy available in the stores.
