Strength:

Clean and powerful for their size.

Weakness:

None at this price.

Bought these to place in the bedroom when I upgraded my HT in the living room. I was just looking to build an average HT with my spare parts from the upgrade. The bedroom system sounds so much better than my pre-upgrade system. They are fantastic to say the least! I use them for left right and center.

I bought these used at a stereo swap meet. I had been looking and listening to speakers for about a year(wasn't in a hurry) I wanted something that came close to what I had in stereo but could allso double as a hometheater speaker. As soon as I got these home I Listened To Loreena McKennitt's THE BOOK OF SECRETS. Wow she souned as if on a stage where my Tv sits. Ok I was realy liking these when I happened. A TRIANGLE? I had never heard that. Then it was confirmed, another rasp of the triangle. I was then turned into a kid with 500 new cds to listen to and not knowing how to choose which one. On Miranda Sex Garden's FAIRYTALES OF SLAVERY (THE MONK SONG) the voices are very huanting and life like as they pan back and forth between the speakers. I was very plaesed at how well they reproduced the ketle drums and then it happened again! I could actually hear that it was a brush hitting the cymbles. WOW! Over all I am very pleased with this speaker. The only thing that came close (and that I could aford) was the Paridigm Studio referance 40. But thay were a little bright after long listen for my taste. As Far as build The Pc3's wiegh 40# apiece.93dbl's at 1 watt. Flat piston drivers and are a true 3 way design. Now all I need are 3 more !!

I auditioned these speakers today at my local hi-fi store and was quite impressed. They allow for the midrange/tweeter assembly to be rotated 90 degrees so the PC-3 is excellent as a center channel or mains without the usual imaging problems inherant in MTM designs. Very nice touch.

The soft dome tweeter is detailed and not harsh. The addition of a midrange makes all voices clear and bass is pretty good for a speaker of this size, although a sub is still a must for HT.

If I didn't already have some $$ invested in to my current speakers, I would buy these in a heartbeat. Their sound quality is a steal for the price. Good, although not stellar build quality too.

Strength:

Clearity of speakers of twice the price

Weakness:

Could use a little more bass.

I have found this to be an excellent speaker for varied uses. I use it for home theater and classic rock. The clearity is superb without being tinny. Midrange is excellent, bass (without a sub) is a little weak, but I have never run them without the sub.

I just purchased a home theater set of speakers from Phase Technology, PC3 model. They are well balanced natural sounding speakers excellent for vocals but equally good for also for jazz, soft rock, or home theater application. I own also a pair of Infinity Kappa 6.1 but the sound is not even close to the PC-3's although they are of almost the same price. If you need great sounding speakers, I encourage that you audition them first. A. Plan Jr.

Strength:

Sharp, crisp, clear sound.

Weakness:

Not very deep in the bass.

Using as the center channel in my home theater set-up. Excellent for this use. The sound is very clean. Although the speaker does not have a very low range. I am very happy with speaker for my use.

An excellent product. If you are looking for a great all around speaker for both music and home theatre, this is it. I got 5 of these and they are great for setting up your DTS system. I am not sure there is a better sounding speaker at this price. (and I did a lot of research before buying). I only give it a 4 because I like Thiels a lot better, but then if I had unlimited money... there is always something better. I will say that speaker placement is crucial. As with any setup ( I think ), you will get quite a varied sound from where you are sitting. The PC3s are little too localized for me, but fortunately, it is usually just my wife and I on the couch so we don't have a problem with a sweet spot. I would like to have my rears about 2-3 feet behind the couch, though our room does not allow for it. If you can do this though, you will hear a significant improvement. They also have significant bass, and you can probably do away with subwoofers for a little while. Though once you have subs in your system, you can't go back though. But if you are trying to save some money and are buying pieces at a time, they provide plenty of bass. I do have the Phase Power 12s.
A great starter system. You won't be disappointed.

Strength:

sonic detail, pivoting tweeter, build quality

Weakness:

none

i decided on a trio of pc 3.1 over a year ago for the front three channels of a music/theater system. the phase techs are absolutely first rate in my receiver based system. the physical quality of the pc 3.1 is easy to recognize found them not particularily placement sensitive, however, they require a proper break-in before critical listening. two channel audio displays a deep, immersing soundstage, with clean, tight lower end extension. the vocals float at center stage with articulation & each instrument holds a true soundstage location. in ac-3 and dts, the dynamics are mega-powerful, and never sound compressed. mated with a capable sub, a quintet of pc 3.1's would be tough to beat in the mid-fi price range for a capable music/movie system.

my first impression of these speakers at home was they were a tad bright sounding. as i listened more, it became evident the added brightness was simply detail that i had not heard previously. what a joy to re-experience favorite albums & hear nuances that had gone unheard before. one of my buddys commented that my system sounded as close to a live performance as he had ever heard in a living room. that's the ultimate statement for a speaker costing only $500...

Strength:

Excellent transparency. These speakers dissapear when you close your eyes. Excellent bass, dome tweeter and midrange. Very efficient.

Weakness:

they are 6 ohm speakers which severely limits the tube amp options.

I bought these speakers about 2 months ago and cannot say enough about them. They are ABSOLUTELY transparent. I auditioned about 10 different speaker sets in the $1000 dollar range and can honestly say that these tickle my ears in the nicest way. They are not at ALL fatiguing to listen to due to the soft dome tweeter and midrange. I would have bought Theil .5's if they were not 1.5 times as much however. I have listened to opera, classical (horns and strings), reggae, blues, funk and electronica and can find no tonal weaknesses in these speakers. Oh yeah, they play VERY loudly without distortion, in fact much more loudly than I ever want in my living room. Enjoy.
