Strength:

These speakers deliver a clear, sharp, tight sound. The bass is powerful yet controled. There is no fuzzy aaahhh!sound like many speakers will give with deep bass. The mids and highs are simply mind blowing. The vocals are rich and real. Paradigm tweeters are the best I ever heard. Most tweeters hurt my ears but these speakers deliver smooth sound with just the right frequency.

Weakness:

I have found none so far. The only thing that I would see that might improve the product would be to put the bass reflex exaust at the back instead of the front to help create a more ambiant sound. Then again these speakers do have a good ambiant sound already.

I have said pretty much what I think of them in the Strenghts section.

I love movies and music. I listen to a wide variety of musical genre. And no matter what music you listen to, they sound terrific.

The classical pieces will have a large soundstage and very precise delivery of each instrument. Pop music will benefit from having a deep bass even without sub woofers and having a great vocal frequency response. Rock and Metal music will benefit from the energy these speakers can deliver.

Make no mistake, these a high fidelity speakers, not boom boxes, but they can fill the room without so much as a sweat.

When it comes to home theatre, combined with the CC-350 or 370 it will place you right where the action is.

Best purchase I ever made, I can't recommend them enough. For it's price range, this is the product to buy. No questions asked.

Revising my previous review:

I picked up a Marantz SR5000 to replace the Technics SA-DA8.

What a huge difference!

The sound is far, far, improved. Clearer, more open. It's just worlds better.

Some people have said that the Marantz's 70W/c is a little underpowered compared to a stronger 100W amp, but... they'll push these high sensitivity speakers very well. Fills out a 16x20 room just fine (but you need a subwoofer.)

These poor babies don't like cheap amps!

But the crossover is still obvious: whenever I play classical violin, there's the oddest jump when the sound crosses from the boxy/throaty/hollow woofer to the sharp and detail-filled tweeter.

But I just found out (you may wish to consider these too) that the B&W 601S2's are going for about $450, only $50 more than these Monitor 3's.

Hope this helps.

Strength:

great mids and highs, tight bass

Weakness:

small sweet spot (at least in my living room)
tweeters reveal bad recordings a bit too much

My system so far:

Sony 777es receiver
Sony S360 DVD player
Sony bigscreen

Monitor 3 v2 mains
CC 370 center channel
jbl sub
jbl bookshelf for my rears

Well, at first these speakers were very bright. At loud volumes when I first got them, they hurt my ears. After about 40 or 50 hours on them they have mellowed out very nicely.

I am by no means an audiophile, but the vocals on the monitor 3's are sweet. Detail I have never heard before is
audible and clear on certain songs. And after the break in, the tweeters are singing.
As I stated before, on a bad recording you are gonna be able to tell its a bad recording. I don't know whether this is a good or a bad thing.

For music they are great, but in my big living room I have to use the sub for any real bass. (hooked them up in a small bedroom and the bass was MUCH better)

For home theatre they sound fine as well, my new CC 370 does most of the work, but I have no complaints with the 3's.

I listen to all kinds of music and don't have any complaints.

Highly recommended
