Strength:

so so sound

Weakness:

cheap cabinets, woofers obviously need larger magnets

This review will not be stellar.Hope not to offend anyone.I purchased these back in 2001 and tricked myself into thinking they were "awesome" speakers.I was ashamed to admit they were not all that good after forking out 1000 dollars that I could not replace. The base was muddy, woofers bottomed out,and the cabinets resonated all the time. All this happened at low to moderate volumes.I use decent mid fi equipment.I decided to sell them for less than 500 dollars.Pulled my old bookshelf speakers back out, replaced all the crossover components with better grade material and never looked back.

Strength:

Transparent, clean and detailed highs and mids; fast bass woofers (6.5" OD)

Weakness:

Somewhat limited in the lower end, but not a showstopper.

Excellent speakers, from looks, build quality to transparency, clarity, imaging and range keeping in mind the price tag. The highs are crisp and clean, detailed mids and the low end is decent. Combined with the Paradigm Servo-15, they can take whatever you throw at them from 14Hz to 20kHz. I use mine for both music and HT. Weakness:

base is ok

The Sound on this speakers is amazing, the soundstage is incredible for the price paid, i did a lot of shoping and testing and the closest to my ear satisfaction was $4500.00 (B&W) wich sounded about the same as the monitor 11 v2, if you are not going to use a suwoofer then save some more money and get the paradigm studio 100 (for music only) if you are planning to do a lot of home theatre then you MUST get a subwoofer. break period is long about 40-60 hours

Bargain for entry level hifi?xD;?xA;Excellent mid-bass, midrange and highs?xD;?xA;The V3 is cosmetically superior to the V2 with the grill off?xD;?xA;The infection molded grill of the V3 is more transparent than the V2?xD;?xA;Bi-wire and Bi-amp capable

Weakness:

Weak below 100hz?xD;?xA;Video shielding will cost extra

Monitor 11.3?xD;?xA;?xD;?xA;Price was per pair when two pairs were purchased. I only kept one pair.?xD;?xA;?xD;?xA;Very tight and transparent above 120Hz, response below 120Hz is clean but drops off quickly. The highs and mids equal anything else I've listened to at twice the price and blow away any of the overpriced, over-marketed garbage you will find at the major retailers. If you are thinking about spending around a grand for a single pair of speakers take the time to find a dealer and listen. You can easily waste this much on a set of Bose, JBL, Polk (yes Polk), Infinity or any of the other "Callaways" of speakers, but you will never know what you are missing except the money you spent on an advertising budget instead of quality components. If you are looking in the $600-$700 range take a look at the model 7.3. If you are spending $300 the only speaker worth listening to is the Mini Monitor. With a good quality sub the Mini is really all you need to get started. ?xD;?xA;?xD;?xA;They take a lot longer to break in than I expected. Give them a good 40 hours before you listen critically.?xD;?xA;?xD;?xA;I must add that if you power these with a $500 receiver you will not hear much of what they have to offer and you might as well go buy some Cerwin Vegas and tell your friends how much bass you can get out of them. While you are at it, toss in a handful of Bose Cubes and you can show them how tinny you can get your system. It gets even better when you hit the "loudness button" doesn't it? Perhaps Snoop Dog will sound more impressive with some 15" three way coffee tables, but the 9th will blow you away on these guys. I would say if you listen to classical or jazz predominately you will love these speakers. If you listen to whales and dolphins exclusively you can probably stick with the Bose.?xD;?xA;?xD;?xA;I have the 11.3's in the front, Minis in the back, ADP-170's for surrounds (go look at the ADP-370 and you will understand why I have the ADP-170), and the CC-370 for the center. I didn't start out to buy all Paradigm, but nothing else seemed to make sense. Feel free to spend more on the B&W's but only if it makes you feel better about getting up and going in to your terrible job every morning. For 7 channel stereo it is nice to have matching drivers as well.?xD;?xA;?xD;?xA;I'm powering them right now with the Denon 3803 which is set up to easily hook up an external preamp and power amp for the fronts (actually all seven channels). For a compact, solid state home theatre amp it is hard to beat for the price. Owners of the 5800 may laugh at it, but for that kind of money (and ear) you should be buying components anyway. My next purchase will likely be the Sunfire sub. My dogs will have fun chasing it all over my hardwood floors

Weakness:

no bass under 40hz.lack of detail and air.music with lots of bass colors the sound(box coloration ).replaced two defective woofers! quality!! great marketing,if a speaker is designed right the first time you shouldn't have to come out with a new version every two or three years(mk1,mk2,mk3,11,11mk3,11v.2,11v.3)

i never thought i'd be writing a review like this, because i really wanted to keep these speakers.i've owned to other pairs of paradigms in past and was very happy!the monitor 11v.2 are alot of speaker for the money and sounded excellent when i auditioned them at the store i bought them from. when i got them home and hooked them up.the first thing i heard was two woofers rattling.after replacing them through the dealer(the voice coils were defective).the quality is NOT like it was when i purchased the other paradigms ten years ago.check out alex smith's review(from nashua,nh)paid $2250.00. of the studio 100's on this same site.this person replaced three of four woofers because the cones were not glued properly. my set were even two different production run's,serial #14269/18450.very disappointed!!

Strength:

Almost perfect imaging and quality. Sounds roll out of these things with ease and it will actually make hair stand on end sometimes its just that clear.

Weakness:

If your 16 years old and want to listen to heavy bass this is not the system for you. If however you are in your mid 20's and up and appreciate the value of clarity of bass quantity. Buy the Monitor 11's. Other than the bass junkies out there, I can find no issues with these speakers!

I went around town looking at everything my city and close cities had to over within a 100 km radius. It came down to 3 makes: Paradigm B&W Jamo The Jamos were the first to be put to the side as the cost was not in my opinion reasonable for the sound quality. The B&W's were almost purchased!! I was about to tell the guy to bag them up for me, when I was listening to Harry Conick, and noticed that for my tastes they were a little Bright. I ended up with Paradigms. Bang for your buck these things flat out smoke everyone in the same price range. You can attain one of the most sonically superior systems where I live for about $2500 cdn. Compare that to the Jamos that wanted almost $6000 and to me the quality was minimal in difference for such a price range difference.

Don`t bother starting at the bottom of the loudspeaker pile, buy these and be done with it.I upgraded several times with different brands and Paradigm models. would have saved money if I bought the best in the first place.Great sound at any volume with anything you play. They do sound a little bright with cheap recievers so don`t skimp there either!!

Strength:

Amazing abundance of all frequencies of bass, without the large driver subwoofer rumble and drone - EXTREMELY dynamic. Strong off-axis response - the sweet spot seems to be everywhere in the room.

Weakness:

My wife thinks they are too tall.

***This review is for the Monitor 11 v3.*** I am completely amazed at how well these speakers sound for the money. It began when I decided to upgrade my simple 2-channel music system in my living room. I was running Paradigm Atoms, with the PS-800 sub. I had always loved that system, but I wanted to use those components for a mild home theater set-up in my family room. I returned to the dealer where I purchased my Atoms, in search of some new speakers, and an amplifier. Because of my love of the Atoms, I naturally wanted to audition the other Paradigm offerings. Because I indicated that I did not want to spend more than $1200 dollars on speakers alone, I listened to the best they had to offer for that money - the Studio 60's. These are a fantastic speaker, with inccredible tweeters, but just did not have enough natural bass, and I wanted to go away from a separate sub again in my music-only system. The Studio 100's had the sound to die for, but at a price to die for (Second Place). I also demo'd the B&Ws, and again, at that price point, they did not have the sound I was looking for. (Another $1000 would have helped.) Somewhat disappointed, and with reduced expectations, I decided to listen to the Monitor Series. I started with the 11's. I was completely surprised! The 11's had excellent imaging, clear highs, and produced the tight bass I was looking for. The (4) 6.5 inch drivers (3 woofers, and 1 mid-woof) did a wonderful job at keeping the bass tight, while producing plenty of it. Also, the bass was not overpowering at any one frequency - they could produce a deep thump of a kick drum, as well as a snare shot equally. I also demo'd the remainder of the Monitor line, but I kept coming back to the 11's for the sound of those 8 tight 6.5's, although the Mini-Monitors put up a decent fight for $300, but would have required an active sub, which I was trying to get away from. Now that they've been in my home (powered by a Rotel RB-1080 - 200w/ch), I am continually impressed. I always loved the imaging on my Atoms, but the 11's are in a completely different league. The sweet spot is incredible, and the imaging is well defined throughout the entire room, allowing the a listener to be well off axis, but yet be able to experience the sound. I have driven these speakers hard with dynamic music by Spyro Gyra, Seal, and 480 East, and they handle it all perfectly, something that the other speakers in my price range could not do. I have never felt snare shots so tight in entire life! And the deep bass is amazing without any subwoofer rumble so common these days. These speakers are for people on a budget who have grown to appreciate a quality sound, but listen to dynamic programs, such as jazz or rock. If you are looking for a speaker that will produce incredible highs, outstanding imaging, yet has abundant, tight bass performance, and can handle some dynamic programs, these are the ticket.

Strength:

A truly neutral speaker with concise imaging. Good bass response and full sounding. Slim floorstanding speakers and looks impressive with the grills on or off.

Weakness:

I would rather get them in Piano Black.

I got these speakers for $849.00 which is normally $1000.00 during a demo sale. Value aside, these speakers are phenomenal. Midrange is clear and concise, bass is very responsive and deep, and the tweeter is not at all bright. These speakers can fill a large room with music with minimal distortion. I was going to go with the Monitor 7's but found these instead, it's a much better speaker for just $200 more. My girlfriend watches t.v. with them on all the time (with the cc-370) which she doesn't do when I had the Klipsch Quintets. Still, I couldn't get her to admit she's crazy about them.
