Strength:

Big Sound for Small Price

Weakness:

How can there be at this price

I bought a 50" big screen TV and put it angled in the corner of my room. I could not have my Missions for the fronts as they are not isolated and are just too dam big. I had to find fronts that were small and decent. I believe I have stuck gold. I thought I was really going to miss my missions, I was wrong. These speakers perform almost as well as my missions, I just couldn't believe it. I have recently added a Paradigm PDR-8 sub and the combined sound is incredible, all the bass I want and the vocals out of the Atoms are impressive.

Thanx to another Canadian Company to produce superb equip.

I can't wait to purchase the CC-170 ( centre ) and the ADP-170 ( di-pole surrounds )and a DD 5.1 reciever.

You will enjoy these little speakers.

Strength:

Neutral, uncolored sound; wide response; low price; small size

Weakness:

none

These speakers live up to their rave reviews. They sounded pretty good in the showroom, more neutral than the similar Boston CR-6. But when I got them home they were even more impressive. The treble is superior to anything I've used, and the bass is unbelievably good for such a small box, without being boomy or artificial. I love my old Advents, but the Atoms are clearly superior in nearly every respect, at one-eighth the weight and nearly half the price I paid for the Advents 20 years ago.

Although the Atoms produce great bass, I still missed the really deep lows on certain types of classical music, so I added a Velodyne CT-100 subwoofer. Together, the set makes music like Bach on the pipe organ or Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" very satisfying, and even exciting again.

Strength:

Pure natural mid and high sound with less but tight bass.

Weakness:

Bass is weak for very good for its size of speaker.

What I hear from this little speaker is a pure natural flat mid and smooth treble sound. Bass is actually very good for its size of speaker. Image is very good, especially when you watch movie. Vocal sound was also very good. When I just had this speaker, I was bit disappointed, the sound was little bit dull with very little bass. However, the sound keeps getting better and better everyday. I give my highest recommendation on this speaker under $1,000 price range for highrange and midrange sound. I also tested the Titan and the Micro with the Atom, however, I preferred the Atom for clear, detailed natural flat midrange and highrange sound. The Atom was the best among them.

Strength:

Clear imaging, sharp detail, incredible price.

Weakness:

None

Used in conjunction with a sub, these are a fantastic way to enjoy reasonably priced great sound. On vocals they are super -- James Taylor, Johnny Cash(American Recording), Allanis Morissette. I play everything from pipe organ, to Kroumata Percussion -- what a triumph of smart engineering over raw $$$.

i heard these by chance at my dealer the other day. i had actually gone in t to listen to the budget nht's. i own the 2.5i's wanted something for background tunes in another room. on a lark i asked him to play the atoms for me. big surprise - they blew away all the nht's budget line. i had never heard any of the paradigms before, but i was impressed. actually the atoms combined with the pd8 powered subwoofer started to sound dangerously close to my 2.5i's. i went back later to listen to the rest of the paradigm lines, but i have to say i was dissapointed. all of the others had a rather prominent lower midrange hump that gave the impression of more bass than was actually being produced. too bad. otherwise the other speakers sounded pretty good. but the atoms are something special.these speakers have my highest recommendation. these are actually the first speakers that i have heard that sound both neutral and musical at the same time. my nhts can sound analytical, but not these boys. i highly recommend you go listen to them directly compared to any other speaker under 1500. you will end up saving quite a bit of money.

Strength:

wonderful precision and clarity

Weakness:

none

I've had Atom speakers for over a month and love them. I needed speakers to fit on small bookshelves, preferably standing upright. I was disappointed when I auditioned PSB Alphas. The Atoms have proven absolutely wonderful in every regard. The highs and mid-range come across with incredible clarity and sweetness. The bass isn't what one would get with a subwoofer, but it's surprisingly good nonetheless. I couldn't be happier with the Atoms. They're far and away the finest small speaker I auditioned, including PSB Alphas and the small B&W speaker.

Strength:

Price, great sound

Weakness:

can be a little "in the box"

I got these little atoms to go in a second system teamed up with a cambridge d300 cd and denon 345r receiver for the basement. I needed something inexpensive, good and small since there wasnt much room for them. I took my time and listened to alot of speakers from axiom,(m1) tannoy(mx1),kef(cresta 1), psb(alpha mini)and b&w(302)
The paradigm titans are also great but they were too big.
The only ones that were really in the same price range (the others listed above were all about $80-$100 more)were the axiom m1 which is a very small speaker that puts out a lot of SOUND but it was very faiguing and couldnt match the bass of the atoms. The other was the PSB alpha mini. IT was a much more open sounding speaker and I liked it alot except for the highs. They were very irritating. That tweeter just cant keep up the the atoms.
Like others have said, right out of the box they are alittle screetchy! Left them on at low levels over night and in the morning they sounded as good as they did in the store! They have a nice balance and are just plain fun to listen too and thats what it is all about.
Also the guys at Audio One are very good guys, who listen and enjoy helping out.

Everything is strong on this little speaker

I bought last year a pair of atoms v.2 for a restaurant. Unbelievable little speakers, I have it running on an old jvc reciever and they still amaze me. THis year I decided to upgrade my home theatre system and I chose the paradigm reference studio 20 v.2 for my fronts. I had old bose speakers for my rears so I went back to Kromer and found out that New Yes NEW atom V.3 were out. Just picked them up!!!! hookeed it up as my second fronts to compare the the refernce speakers and amazing to believe they still sound great in comparison.

Nothing and I mean nothing compares to these great little speakers for the price.

Highly HIghly recommended and a great company to deal with

I know of only one speaker for under $400 that out classes the ATOMS. And that would be the outstanding AXIOM M22tiSE. But the ATOMS are less than half the cost of the AXIOM's.
