Strength:

Very good for the money when half price ($20). Very well constructed.

Weakness:

Low power handling (15 watts RMS). Minimal Base

These speakers are very good as rear speakers on my Sony 525 system. They have a good range for the size, and I don't need low base in my rear speakers (which they don't have!) The mid and high ranges are good and balenced. At $20 each they are a good deal. I would buy the X44AV's instead if they are on sale for $30, the $10 is probably worth it for the power handling and low end response. I don't crank things up real high so these work ok for me.

No bass, harsh trebles, low power handling (15W RMS/30W MAX), and poor frequency performance range (140-20K hz) makes this hard to use and setup because of how high your going to have your powered sub (which will force high bass/low midrange distortion and lag) crossover set. Don't use a passive sub unless you really want this for the cabinets to replace the tweeter/midrange. The only two things that this has going for it is the aluminum cabinet and punched metal grill but with such low power handling even a Casual Listener most likely would have a hard time of getting their use out of it. At low volumes it is pretty clear and maybe can be used with quiet electronics and all people in the room being silent. Save up your money and buy the higher model unless you need speakers for the sleep function of your bedroom AVR.

R/S goes too far in its 'something for everyone' marketing strategies. These things squawk. Probably not even as a 'Bose AM' replacement, and thats bad.

Strength:

price,looks,size

Weakness:

none for what i use them for

I use these speakers in my buisness(restraunt). While they wont rock the house, they wont strain your budget(15$ a piece right now at radio shack) They have pleasing sound for their diminuitive size. The midrange vocals of both males and females are very clear and the high frequency response is at par with speakers costing as much as 200 each. In the noisier areas of my restraunt i use the pro-x44av's in all I use 6-x33av's 2-x44av's.
The speakers do great for background music and as a low powered surround speaker, or replacement for a mini system.
