Strength:

Broad soundstage, visceral impact, fit-n-finish

Weakness:

Audtioned the VT 1.2's and the M&K THX Select 750 LCR's. Both systems performed exceedingly well. Has anyone auditioned the M&K's as well. I'd love to hear your thoughts as I'm probably going to snag one or the other.

My impressions:
Looks: NHT wins hands down. M&K's have a very spartan look bordering on cheap.
Soundstage: Slight edge to M&K
Visceral impact: Slight edge to NHT.
Price: About even.
THX certification: Nod to M&K as I'll be driving them with a Pioneer Elite 027tx which is THX cetified.

Anyone have any thoughts? I'm at Mark_Musto@Deutschinc.com
Cheers.

Weakness:

Resale value

These speakers are great and well worth the money! Although I always wish I could buy the best, with my budget these work perfectly. Great Highs, Adequate lows(although i dont care b/c of my sub), and great mids. I would recommend these speakers to anyone. Only thing I dont like, but dont care for right now is the poor resale value(checked Ebay) of these as opposed to other NHT speakers like the Super series. I guess too many people just do not know about these speakers...but they rock!!!!!

Strength:

Clear clean Detail & subtle,Good Sound Stage for HT & Music

Weakness:

None: no comments compared to others.

Now Here this, It's has a unique features in design & physical out look. It's easily blend to your home decor & easy to calibrate it, either in a small or larger room. Compared with other speaker tested physically, it has no barrier. Especially bi-amp VT 1.2 with SA-2, it's sound even superb. (Made for HT & Music)

If you are using the NHT VT 1.2 System with HDP 2 as surround speaker & SW-2 PI for LFE ... with that kind of price, you are paying you'll be suprise by it's performance, But if you really want to invest for superb system try NHT VT-2 system.

Have been using these 1.2's for six months with a SONY TA/TN 9000 setup.Have the towers up front L&R and 1.2's center L&R rear up high 6.5 ft.
They need a sub (Velodyne HGS12) for home theater, but as a package, kick serious ass for the money ($1700). For music the sound is sweet and warm. For HT they clear & clean, top to bottom. The nice plus to the system is they not only sound great but LOOK stellar and take up very little room. The rears are white and are hardly noticable on the wall.
Very highly reccomended.

Strength:

Good sound imaging for a small litte guy. The NHT VT-1.2 sould impressive in both audio and HT mode. Good value for money.

Weakness:

Complain??NOne

I had an intention to to upgrade my front l/r speaker about two months back. Eariler about a year ago, I had intensively with afew of my friends went around auditing different speaker brands like the System Audio, Dali, AE, Yamaha, Energy, Agesis and Castle.

I was impressed with the System Audio (1130) and only the bass is disappointing. Anyway, I was thinking of getting the System Audio until I stumble unpon NHT. I audited the 2.5, 2, 3.3 etc. I am really overwhelmed by the superb soundstage these guys have. Sadly, the price of these guys are well over my budget.

Sometime caught my eye is the NHT 1.2. It appearance look quite identical to the NHT 2 but only smaller in size. I thought maybe I should give this little guy a shot and also it look to be in the price range of my budget. I get the dealer to hook it up to a Yamaha DSP-A1 HT Amplifier (which my current HT amplifier) and test it with cd from Rebecca Pigeon and this little guy really give more punch than I first thought of. The vocal is crisp and clear and the bass is impressive.

After listening to it for about almost 1 hours, wow, I am going to get this little guy. Now, I been listen to it for three months

I recommend NHT 1.2 to anyone whom is looking for a good sound image speaker on a tight budget.

Strength:

Crisp Clear and Beautiful.

Weakness:

extra power needed for bass (best to bi-amp or have a good stand alone sub).

Well fellas these are some great sounding speakers, very clear at all levels. I have to admit the looks and the narrow width first caught my eye. Then the two hours I spent listening to them really got me hooked. NHT has a history of fine quality and for the price this is the best loud speakers they have.

Some may say that they are a little power hungery but a small price to pay for such a great piece of equipment. Iam running an Onkyo 777 now but they worked great with my old Onkyo 575.

Oh yeah... Did I say they look GREAT too!!

Strength:

Nice piano-veneer finish

Weakness:

Flabby bass, sizzly highs

Not bad but not great. Bass is boomy and muddy.
Highs are typical NHT --> easily mistaken as
"detailed" but upon extended listening they become
sizzly and busy.

The woofer really needs to be driven separately,
but even then bass is not particularly fast nor
articulate. For the cost of these speakers +
bass amp you can do MUCH better.

Strength:

Good price per sound ratio

Weakness:

one can always buy better

Having been impressed with NHT SubTwo (see review) to match with some Martin Logan SL-3's, Logos, and Scripts in my front room, I wanted to check out NHT other speakers to maybe Zone 2 from a Theta Casa Nova D/A surround sound pre-amp into my bedroom with maybe a small 50 watt tubed amp (or something like that). I heard that the NHT 2.9 were a good value, but the lower woofers play towards each other and this would not fix in my bedroom, where I want to place 2 speakers up against a wall and in between a dresser. Therefore I needed the lower woofers to face away from each other and the NHT VT 1.2 matched my plans. They sounded rather sweet and semi-balance, maybe lacking clarity in the mid-range. The NHT VT 1.2 sounded a lot beter having a paper tweeter than the NHT's Super Ones/Twos which lack a large woofer and had a metal tweeter that SCREAMED at me. Another issue was that NHT newer model, the NHT VT 1.4 had a rear firing tweeter and woofer that I would never use, because I would be placing the speakers against the back wall due to the lack of space in my bedroom. The NHT VT 1.2 sound nothing like my Martin Logan's, but that's being un-fair, for these are not top class speakers, but a good value per sound speaker. I am thinking of checking out the NHT VT 2 which are a little larger and have a greater Hz range (25hz-21Khz) but I am not sure if a 50 watt tubed amp could ran them. I am rather impressed with the NHT VT 1.2 value ratio, but I want something a little better.
