Strength:

Mid's and highs. Great clarity, imaging and looks.

Weakness:

Low end.

I've had these speakers for 2 years and only regretted buying them at the very start, because they lacked bass (after parting with some monster JBL's with 10" subs), but after listening to some of my favorite songs, I realized I could hear subtleties that I never even noticed before, then I got used to them and began to appreciate them much more. It's wierd to listen to songs again for the first time. Great mid and high detail, along with a very discernable soundstage.

Strength:

Beautiful construction, do well with all types of music, biwiring really brings out a smooth high end and very tight tuneful bass. Can be positioned close to rear wall.

Weakness:

None in it's class

I feel like someone should point out that there are two different speakers being reviewed here. The 773 which can be had for $350 and the 773e which is a much improved design that retails for $800. The 773 has 2 drivers while the 773 has an additional bass driver and can be biwired. While the 773 was great the 773e is awesome! I'll let the rest of the reviews speak for themselves. I use these speakers for my front surrounds but also love them as dedicated audio speakers. Great all-rounders. I give them 5 stars - just as What Hi-Fi does (but there's are gold colored).

Strength:

Esthetic Speaker, clear sound, good quality/price ratio

Weakness:

none so far

I'm not an audiophile so I can't compare these to the B&W I heard. Either I was gonna buy the B&W's DM 305 which are the cheapest B&W speakers available or these. I wanted a speaker with better cones and with two woofers so I chose the 773e instead (don't forget that the 773 are not the same than the 773e with have two woofers instead of one). I purchased mine on E-Bay from Hifiguy111. For those who find that these speakers don't have enough bass, you should have gotten the 774 or 775 which are exactly the same in terms of sound quality but much more powerfull. Hifiguy111 also sells those ones at good prices.

Strength:

Bass response, design and finish quality

I'm delighted with my 773e Missions - a replacement for my tired 780s. I tested these initially with a Cyrus CD and Amp setup, and was impressed by the detail they portrayed (relative to some Kef floor standing speakers I also demoed). Interestingly, I was even happier when partnering them with my trusty Arcam setup at home. The warmth of the Arcam takes a little harshness off the Mission 773es - but they remain lively enough and detailed, with plently of bass. Personally, I'm not keen on too much detail at all frequencies, so if you're like me I would partner the 773es with an amp at the mellower end! I have them bi-wired - obviously a help. Finally, the Rosewood finish I selected is lovely - my wife is happy for me to position them where they should be - prominently, ideally located either side of my fireplace. For floor standers, they are narrow and rather elegant. The finish quality is fine - I'm even happy with the documentation!

Strength:

Clarity, midrange, small footprint, real nice in rosewood or black

Weakness:

Deep bass

First of all I'd like to thank all those that posted messages here to introduce me Mission. I'd also like to thank those reviewers who responded to my inquires that helped my buying decision. I originally bought these for my girlfriend who didn't like speakers on stands. I envied her so much that I also ended up buying a pair for myself. I have the 773e and find them to be very musical. As one reviewer mentioned, the whole spectrum is well integrated and natural, with a high level of transparency. I also like the fast transient response and the ability to disappear in a room. The soft dome tweeter configuration also does a nice job on vocals. I could hear the mids a lot clearer on the Missions than with other speakers I auditioned or owned. The 773e is one of those speakers that actually sound great with the treble and bass flat. They don't go very deep but I don't mind the trade-off with having a small foot print. Great set of mini-tower speakers. Highly recommended.

Before buying a pair of Mission 773, we tried out NHT Super One, Energy C-series, various Paradigm, Definitive Technology, Polk, Infinity, etc.. We found that these speakers have a warm, lively, clean sound with excellent imaging. It has plently of bass for music, but you might want a sub-woofer for home theater. The build quality is excellent. It also comes with spikes. Got them for $600 from a local dealer (They were on sale.) One last thing, it also has bi-wire capability. Excellent speakers!!

Strength:

nice to look at, clear midrange, controlled bass

I had been using Mission 702e and then JPW mini monitors, then I changed to this beauts... and wow, what a change. everything is clearer and more refined. The 702es are good quality speakers for their price, but bass a bit overwhelming and the mids and highs sounds a bit 'hollow'. the 773es are of a different league(and price range), and I feel that this is my best investment ever. Have been comtemplating of buying mission 780s, but then have to invest in a stand, and the bass is weeny bit on the weak side compared to the 773e.

Oh yea, I actually connected the speakers in parallel connection off the amps. set A and B, anybody found it better than biwiring using same terminal?

Strength:

These speakers have an incredibly realistic imaging and soundstage. When you play a concert of acoustic CD you can close your eyes and be there.

Weakness:

The low end doesn't go as deep as my previous speakers. If you're not careful when watching a movie or have your cross-over set wrong one low bas drop will send the drivers popping and crying away though if you have a high end reciever set the speaker setting to small or normal and you won't have much trouble.

I have to say for the pirce I paid for them on an auction site they are incredible sounding. I was going to be buying a set of klipsch's refrence series but I managed to get a full set of missions for around 1100 773e fronts 77c1 center and 77ds rears. They are very musical and as long as you're not listening to heavy drum and bass or something along those lines they will perform very well. The price of them in retail stores could be a bit steep for their performance as compared to a larger american speaker. Over all I love them though still plan on getting the klipschs maybe in a year or so

I am very sorry. I wrongly described MS 773e as MS 774(e) in the review below. Please replace 774(e) by 773e.

This time, my evaluation gets 4.5 (= 4 + 5 /2). This is just to make the effect of "double" review as little as possible.

Strength:

Balanced sound, stunning looks, superb build quality

Weakness:

Makes you regret not buying them earlier

I bought these speakers as a planned upgrade to my system. I listen to music primarily but I like surround as well so I put together a system around Sony's 445 Digital Amp. I had Mission 700's as the main speakers and whilst it was good in surround mode, I found that I wasn't enjoying music very much. I guessed that it was the entry level amp that was the culprit and was going to swap it out for a better one when I saw the Missions advertised at half price. All I can say is that these speakers have proved a revelation. I auditioned them against the new M73 and to my mind the M73 sound cheap next to the 773. Whilst they certainly have a more prominent base, the M73 were too bright sounding in my opinion. The 773's have made me listen to my music all over again and I have no plans to make more changes to my system - it sounds fantastic in surround mode AND straight 2Channel stereo. I bought the matching 77C as well and all finished in Cherry, they look stunning. Run them in for 24 hours first before you judge them and you won't be dissappointed by these fantastic speakers.
