Strength:

Very bright super elliptic tweeter. Depending on positioning very deep controlled bass. Quality made, last forever if looked after. Very interesting design overall.

I picked these speakers up 2nd hand from a local Hi-Fi dealer. They were demoed in a consealed audio room, and then I tested them on my Pioneer A-60 and was very delighted with them. The sound is very well controlled, I basically don't move my bass/treble from the default half way, and even then the bass and crispness of the speakers is astonishing. If ever need of repair Mission can do all the replacements etc. The terminal's on the back and top notch, and the homopolymer bass driver is very responsive. Each speaker weigh's 32kg. Im a very happy Mission Electronic's consumer now, and wouldn't hesitate to look no further then any of their other range of speakers. Be sure to run fairly decent cabling to them, im running cheap cable and can see that if I spent some money I would see some results.

770 freedoms are fantastic. even better once upgraded. I purchased these speakers from a freind who had moved on to Tannoys. At first I found them a little hollow with My system ( I am using a NAD amp and upgraded Marantz 63se. However I have another friend who is an electritian by trade and audiophile by choice. both he and his father upgrade old hifi eqiuipment by introducing Very high quality components (they follow all schematics) the first thing he did was to open up the back and pull a mass of hard foam out of the back. then he replaced some of the crossover components and biwired the sockets with Shark solid silver cable. The result was cleared top end with a bass weight to rival speaker systems costing £600 that I have listened. I wouldn't advise you do this unless you know what you are doing.

These speakers were the replacement model to Mission's original infamous 770 speakers. I bought them in 1986 and kept them for 10 years. Overall an unbelievable speaker. Very compact even with the 8 inch Mission stands. Incredible clean and natural highs. The bass was very tight but not that powerful unless you had a very strong amp. Actually they sound just as good, if not better than Mission's current 752F and 753F speakers, but can be purchased used at around $200. - $300. An incredible bargain because they are also built to last. No cheap foam surround on the woofers. They are a speaker that will easily last 20 years without breakdown. A definite best buy.

I liked the predecessor of these speakers better (its a long story). I'm finally going to get a speaker that I can listen to. For my tastes, these are too bright, verging on edgy, and have insufficient warmth and bass.

I agree completely with Nick (see his review). I've had my Mission 770S (an upgrade from their famous 770) since 1983! When I hear a speaker that can completely outperform the 770S then I will consider upgrading. As of yet I have not found that speaker (I've listened to speakers ranging from the Totem Arros to the Meadowlark Shearwaters). I believe my happiness with the Missions also stems from several small tweaks: the grille covers are off, they are almost 2 feet from the back wall and 4-5 feet from the side walls, toed-in 20 degrees and most importantly I reinforced, raised and spiked the wooden stands.
